Overview

About the property

Villa, 4 Bedrooms, 4.25 Baths, (Sleeps 2 - 8)

Albatross Nest epitomizes Caribbean style living with truly breath taking 180-degree views from the property's open and elevated terraces. Enjoy magical sunset drinks with views of the island of Martinique in one direction and Pigeon Island National Park and Rodney Bay in the other.

Albatross Nest is our dream home - perfect views, distinctive open plan architecture, traditional Caribbean shingled buildings and beautiful tropical garden. Enjoy classic barefoot charm and listen to the sounds of nature and the sea below.

The property is secluded and provides perfect privacy - it is only ever rented to a single party/group. Its layout means that it is equally suited to 2 guests as much as it is for larger groups of up to 8 guests.

The villa was designed by architect, Robertson Ward, who designed the original Sandy Lane hotel in Barbados. Three buildings are linked by covered walkways around the large central pool. The design is perfect for a tropical, outdoor lifestyle and the central pool area spanned by an attractive bridge creates a romantic environment.

Albatross Nest is located in the North West corner of the Cap Estate which is generally regarded as the premier residential area of St. Lucia.

The property is a very short drive to Pigeon Island beach, Anse Du Cap beach and Cas en Bas beach. The 18 hole golf course at the St. Lucia Golf and Country Club, snorkeling, scuba diving, kitesurfing, horse riding on the beach, tennis club and an award winning spa, as well as many of the island's best restaurants are all within a ten minute drive.

Maid service is provided 5 days a week. The gardener is at the property 2 days a week. The property has a security system.

The property is managed by Kris Wagner who will welcome you to the property and advise on any aspects of your vacation. Kris is on call 7 days a week to ensure that you have a wonderful holiday in St. Lucia.

A pre-stocking service is available so that when you arrive at the villa you do not immediately have to go shopping - you can immediately relax, unwind and enjoy the view.

About Kris

The property belongs to an English couple who have been visiting St Lucia for the past 15 years. We fell in love with the island and after a very long search we finally found our dream home which we purchased in December 2009.

We look forward to being able to spend much more time in our beautiful home in St. Lucia when we retire but in the meantime we are making it available for holiday rentals when we are not there .

Kris purchased this villa in 2009

Why Kris chose Saline Point

We have visited St. Lucia for many years and love the island. We fell in love with the stunning view, the lovely garden and the architecture of this property. We enjoy the variety of restaurants and beaches easily accessible from the property.

What makes this villa unique

The property has one of the best sea views we have seen on the island. The sunset views are amazing. The property provides a restful, private location but good restaurants and a variety of activities are available within a ten minute drive.

Guestbook comments from the manager

It’s going to be hard going back to the UK after an amazing stay at Albatross Nest. We could not have imagined a more spectacular view. It feels like a slice of paradise. The sunsets, sky, sea was all so breathtakingly beautiful. We loved the stillness and privacy of it all and were happy to spend all days here.

Everyone made us feel so welcome. I have not come across a nicer group of people in all my travels. All thanks to Mr. Mike for his gentle manner and beautifully tended garden, to Ivy for her warmth and wonderful laugh, Gildas for keeping us safe with no complaints and to Kris for her attention to detail. We would love to come back again.

The only place to stay in St. Lucia!

  • 5 of 5

I was lucky enough to spend two weeks at Albatross Nest in January, and have already booked my return.

Whilst the photos give a glimpse of the stunning view surrounding the villa, it is difficult to describe just how beautiful it actually is. Perched atop Cap Estate, you can expect to spend the majority of your time here gazing out at the various shades of blue.

The property itself leaves nothing to be desired, and is beautifully appointed. Every effort has been made to ensure that you can relax in total comfort and luxury away from home, whilst the villa has also managed to retain a sense of Caribbean charm.

Ivy, the maid, and Michael, the gardener, were both absolutely charming, and looked after us so well; helping to recommend the must see sights and best restaurants to visit during our stay.

Staying at Albatross Nest is like spending a few weeks in paradise, and I cannot wait to return.

A fantastic, relaxing colonial retreat

  • 4 of 5

This is one of the best locations on the island and a property to suit it, relaxing, spacious, and tranquil. The Albatros nest is a place where you forget the worries and relax into a world of calm, great views, amazing facilities and definatly recommended. A few updates around the property needed, roads a little tricky and you need to like birds! over all a great place. Todd, Liz & Warren

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We are pleased that you enjoyed the property and found it relaxing and tranquil. The open nature of the sitting room (great room) and the tropical garden means that birds do visit but they should not be fed. Hummingbirds have been a particular favourite with a number of guests. Some of the roads are, as you say, a little tricky and St Lucia is a country of hills so we recommend that guests hire a 4x4 car for their stay. We are glad that you enjoyed the views and forgot all your worries during your stay.

Lovely property, beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

On arrival, immediately overwhelmed by the beautiful property and spectacular views, enjoying both lounging/relaxing around the pool and visiting the many restaurants & bays in the surrounding area. We tried casual dining at Rodney Bay to fine dining at Cap Maison.

A little further is Marigot Bay a little more secluded than Rodney Bay, but, great restaurants and bars whilst checking out the yachts moored and day dreaming about which one you would love to own.

Would definitely recommend a boat hire (with 'captain') from Rodney Bay for a day trip around the coast line to experience the many waterfront bars & restaurants and stopping to snorkel in the wonderful clear water - you decide how you want your day to unfold.

A very big thank you to Ivy (housekeeper) for looking after us and not forgetting Odessa who cooked us a wonderful in-house 'local' meal. Would love to return and would definitely recommend a visit. The setting is idyllic whether for a quiet retreat or exploring the island.

Gorgeous 180 degree ocean view

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this villa. Each suite is clean with really comfortable beds, total privacy, and an ocean view. The living area has comfortable furnishings and three walls of accordion glass doors which open to enjoy the breeze and 180 degree views of the ocean. There's also a hammock on the balcony that we ended up nearly fighting each other over. The pool and patio were definitely the highlight. We actually stayed in most evenings because the sunset views from the balcony and pool area were the best on the island. The landscaping was beautiful, the neighborhood is peaceful, and our housekeeper, Ivy, had us feeling very spoiled. We were able to have groceries delivered prior to our arrival which made for a nice welcome with food and beverages readily available. The manager provided us with great suggestions of where to (and not to) go around island too.

Owner's Response: We are thrilled that you loved the villa, found it comfortable and enjoyed both beds and hammock. We are really glad that you enjoyed the garden and pool and loved the beautiful sunsets. We never tire of the view and sunset drinks and we hope that you return to enjoy the villa again in the future. We will let Ivy know that you appreciated her charms. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this lovely review.

5 Star View

  • 5 of 5

This was a "last minute" booking for us as our other accommodations fell through but we absolutely loved it! Although I can't say it was the most plush or modern house we've ever rented it was great none the less.

The awesome view overlooking the ocean and Pigeon Island was breathtaking. The outdoor living area was great and separated from the sleeping rooms so if some want to stay up late it won't bother the other guests. Rooms were comfortable and cozy although with a view like Albatross nest you won't be spending much time in them.

Located on the North End of the island with plenty of great dining options within 10 minutes. Close to Gros Islet and Rodney Bay. Grocery market(s) were well stocked and only about 5 minute drive from the house.

We would certainly return and rent again!!!

Owner's Response: We are delighted that you loved your stay at Albatross Nest. The property is one of the more characterful and traditional properties in Cap Estate and we have chosen to keep the simple charm that first attracted us to the house. We are really pleased that you would like to return and we would love to welcome you back!!

Wonderful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

When you enter Albatross Nest you find yourself in a spectacular retreat with panoramic views overlooking the vast Caribbean, the coastline of St. Lucia and the island of Martinique. Sailboats and and ships are mesmerizing to watch day and night as you gaze down at the sea and out on the horizon. The beaches below the villa in front of the Cap Maison and Le Sport resorts are a 5 minute drive away and welcome visitors for swimming, sunning and water sports. They are also good places for lunch and dinner. But you don't want to miss the sunsets at Albatross Nest while floating in the pool with an evening beverage or lounging on the terraces and open living room. We found that we often wanted to stay for dinner and got groceries in Rodney Bay, just a ten minute drive away. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a great outdoor grill. The staff is outstanding with a manager who will arrange anything you need. We had a wonderful day on a boat down to the famous Pitons. The housekeeper and gardener kept the house and grounds immaculate and were very friendly and accommodating. We rented a car, which was all arranged by the house manager, and delivered and picked up at the house. The driving can be a bit challenging but easy enough and good to have the mobility and flexibility for short trips to the market, restaurants and beaches. We'd recommend a cab for longer trips like to to the airport, Pitons or rain forest. Overall, we had a verymemorable family experience.

Car: recommended

We recommend that you hire a 4x4 car to make the most of your stay. Beaches, restaurants, golf course, tennis courts and Pigeon Island are all within 15 minutes.

We highly recommend a trip into the rainforest and zip-lining for the more adventurous or a tram ride into the forest if the zip-lining does not appeal.

A boat trip is the perfect way to see the island and it is possible to join others on a large boat or to hire something smaller. Boats trips leave from Rodney Bay Marina which is within 15 minutes. Trips vary in length and cost but we enjoy going down the west coast to The Pitons stopping off at Marigot Bay and snorkelling from the boat at various bays along the coast.

Nearer home on those days when you want to do more than relax by the pool we recommend a trip to Pigeon island, to look around and investigate the history, relax on the beach and perhaps to eat at the restaurant there.

A range of watersports are available on nearby beaches including kitesurfing with excellent tuition.
