Create wonderful vacation memories that will last a lifetime. Whether you enjoy a sunny afternoon sitting out on the dock watching the fall show of colors, the peacefulness of the snow falling while sipping a hot chocolate, or the excitement of boating or fishing, this place is for you. No matter what season it is, your friends and family will have a fun and relaxing time.
This 2 story 3 bedroom 2 bath home is just 25 feet from the sandy beach on a quiet bay of Cotton Lake. Because the house is on the bay, there will be no speeding boats or jet skis going by the dock. The first floor has knotty pine paneling throughout giving the home a nice cozy cabin feel. The master bedroom features a king size bed, TV, VCR and is on the first floor. There are 2 additional bedrooms upstairs, one with a queen size bed and the other with a queen and a double bed with a TV, VCR, and a playstation2. There is a full bathroom on each floor - both with bath/shower combos.
The kitchen is spacious with a table that can sit 6 and two additional seats at the breakfast bar. The kitchen is fully stocked and includes a toaster, coffee maker, waffle iron, and a blender. The living room has 46' flat screen TV with digital TV and DVD. From the French doors, you may walk out to the covered porch. The lake is only 25 feet away with a sandy beach, and a gentle sloping lake bottom. There is plenty of room in the yard for the kids to run around and play and room if they would like to pitch a tent to camp out in. The kids will also enjoy fishing from the dock.
Cotton Lake is the only lake that has an island with a lake in it. The island is public and may be explored in the daytime. The lake is 1783 acres in size with a concrete public access on the north east shore. You may launch your boat or pontoon and drive it over to our dock to use it during your stay. We have an boat lift next to the dock for your use. You may also use the provided kayaks or paddle boat to explore the lake and quiet bay. The Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge borders Cotton Lake on the north east shore. The refuge offers picnic areas, a visitor's center, and all sorts of activities. There is bird watching, hiking, fishing, cross country skiing, snow-shoeing, and hunting.
You may snowmobile right off the property and gain access to the Becker County trail system. Books, movies, board games, playstation 2 games, and some younger kid toys and books are also provided for use during your stay.
We are only 15 miles from the Soo Pass Ranch and Amphitheater where We Fest is held each summer, and 10.4 miles from Frazee where the Turkey Days Festival is celebrated each summer.

We stayed at the cabin for a week and loved every minute of it. Five of us shared the home with plenty of space to spare. The back deck overlooking the bay was enjoyed any time of day (e.g., while sipping morning coffee or evening cocktails).
Our family had a wonderful and relaxing time at the cabin on Cotton Lake. Everything available for a fun vacation.
We stayed in this "cabin" for two weeks and found it absolutely perfect. And, it really isn't a cabin so much as a lovely appointed home that is kept in immaculate condition with absolutely everything you need to enjoy your time here. I grew up in the Detroit Lakes area and Cotton Lake remains one of the very best lakes in the vicinity. The Otter Tail River is a mile away for tubing and a variety of good restaurants are within easy reach. Detroit Lakes, with its great community center (yoga; Pilates; sports; etc); Holmes Theater; and variety of summer fun activities is also close by. But, for an experience of these north woods as they used to be, so is Tamarck Wildlife Refuge -- a naturalist's dream. And, we should also mention that all the fixin's that you will need for s'mores will be waiting for you on arrival.
We recommend this home without reservation and definitely will be returning!
We had a great time staying at this cabin. It was very clean and spacious for our family. We really appreciated the canoe, paddle boat, kayaks and kid's beach toys. The cabin is well stocked from kitchen supplies to nice bath towels and even some toys. It's also in a great location, Detroit Lakes is only a 15 minute drive away and the Tamarac Wildlife Refuge is only a 5 minute drive away, we had fun spending time at both places.
This was a very clean and well-maintained cabin. We loved the location on the bay, the paddle boat and canoe, and had a wonderful stay.
We had a great time. We booked the cottage late September / early October and the Fall colours at the time were stunning. Tamara was organized and professional. We brought our two young children and appreciated all of the toys and games available for them to use. It was nice to have a paddle boat and canoe to use too. The location on the lake was beautiful, sheltered and peaceful. Had a great time and want to return again.
