In addition to its unsurpassed beauty at the base of the Wasatch Mountains, Ogden boasts amazing history from fur trappers like Jim Bridger to bootleggers like Al Capone. Browning House is woven into the fabric of this local history.
Space, privacy, and charm. What more could you want?
This house was Perfect! Everything was as we expected. Couldn't have been better. Thanks Jerry for all your efforts in our behalf. We hope to stay again.
We used the house for a family gathering and it worked great for ages 2 to 80. Sleeping arrangements were great and there were quiet places for naps and several different gathering spots for other groups. The water pressure was low, but we all adjusted. There were plenty of towels.
The place was very clean when we walked in.
The locations is easy to find and we found good parking.
Jerry was so easy to deal with both before and after.
We would go there again.
We were in town for my daughters wedding on August 6th, we started with only two guests and peaked at a total of 9 friends and family, and entertained up to 20 on Sunday night. The house has lots of charm, with big bedrooms, great beds and pillows, large kitchen and gathering areas. The backyard well exceeded our expectations with several tables and green space for games and the kids.
It was in a great location, close to downtown, hiking trails, and most importantly our daughter.
We had plenty of room to host the bridesmaids lunch after they got their hair and nails done before the wedding.
Our host was very helpful in walking me through the process as it was our first time to use VRBO. He checked in with us before we arrived and checked when we got in to ensure we had everything. It was hot outside, but the house was very comfortable and at night was cool.
We only have two complaints and neither are deal killers. First, the WiFi did not work well in the upstairs area. Secondly, and most importantly there was only one truly usable shower in the entire house. The master has a full restroom, but just a bathtub and the second upstairs restroom had a very uncomfortable shower that would only work for a child as the headroom was uncomfortable for an adult. The "usable" shower was down in the basement and was very nice, but not convenient for the entire house. This was the only reason for not giving five stars.
The positives definitely outweigh the negatives and I would stay at this house again and highly recommend it to others that need a large house with lots of space.
House was fun. Pool table was a hit. Patio with tables made big meals easy and relaxing. Grill was great as well. Group of 11 adults and 7 kids and didn't feel like we were all over each other. Having the laundry with soap available came in handy.
The property was just as described, and it was perfect for my family. Thank you
This rental was perfect for our needs. We came into town for our son's wedding; children and grandchildren flying in from around the country. There were 19 of us staying at the house with 4 more family members during one of the days. The wedding preparations, activities, and event kept us busy and away from the house most of the time during the days, but it was wonderful being able to all be in the same house during the morning hours as everyone was getting up and eating breakfast, and during the late night hours when we were to tired to do anything but set around and talk. We don't see each other enough :) And, there was plenty of room for the young grandchildren to run around and be together. We loved the older character of the house and the largeness of the rooms, especially the bedrooms. All the beds are wonderfully comfortable - again an important thing for people who were very tired at the end of each day.
The kitchen is wonderful - convection oven, Kitchen Aid Prof Mixer, lots of counter-space, (our daughter baked the 3-tired wedding cake in this kitchen) . . . stocked with more than enough utensils, pots and pans, dishes, etc for all of us to fix multiple options for breakfast before we headed out for each day's activities.
We never had time to use the hot tub, outdoor grill, or gas fire pit, but they were there and in good condition. There were lots of little things about renting this house that were special such as; LOTS of bath towels, 3 copies of the door keys, all kinds of spices and kitchen needs, plenty of toilet paper and paper towels, washer and dryer on site with laundry soap, plenty of parking on the street, secure back yard, nice neighborhood, dark window covers for sleeping, and a property manager who came over right away when we had a clogged drain problem.
There was only one down side; really low water pressure upstairs. Upstairs is where 2 of the 3 and 1 half baths are. And the two bathtubs upstairs really are only practical for baths. Taking a shower in either of them isn't practical due to water pressure and the way they are built . So - with 19 people, we had to take turns in the downstairs shower. Which was only an inconvenience, but would have been nice to know ahead of time.
Overall - this is a GREAT HOUSE and a WONDERFUL option for a large get together of families and/or friends in the Ogden Utah area. We would rent it again if the opportunity for all of us to return to Ogden occurs again.
Also check out the Eccles Dinosaur Park, the Bear Lake Bird Refuge, Pineview Reservoir, Willard Bay, Great Salt Lake, Antelope Island State Park, and the dozens of miles of hiking and mountain biking trails in the foothills above Browning House.
