Putgarten - a place of natural tranquility in the north of the island of Rügen. Close to the Baltic Sea, the town and its districts is the northernmost municipality in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Putgarten can be reached from the Muttland via the Wittow ferry or via the Jasmund peninsula from Glowe via the Schaabe and the Baltic resort of Breege-Juliusruh.
Putgarten itself is closed to private cars and buses (except for residents and holidaymakers). A parking lot is located on the southern edge of the village, from where you can take a shuttle to the village and Cape Arkona with the distinctive lighthouses and the Jaromarsburg or the nearby fishing village Vitt.
In Putgarten, the Rügenhof Arkona invites you to experience and dine - a restored estate as a red brick ensemble of houses. There are show workshops, stalls, a café, a coffee roastery and a smokehouse. In the village there are other dining facilities and cafes.
The northern peninsula Wittow is due to the flat landscapes very well suited for cycling.
