Sit back, relax in the rockers, and enjoy the view and serenity of the Western North Carolina Mountains.
This private, two-story, white-pine log cabin home is in a country setting and situated about 4000 feet up on a large lot in a quiet, gated community near the top of the mountain.
This home is located near Waynesville, Maggie Valley and Cataloochee Ski Area; also, Lake Junaluska. Beautiful Lake Logan is only 5 minutes away. Blue Ridge Parkway and all area attractions are close-by, including Cold Mountain, made famous by the best selling novel and film. Camp Daniel Boone (Boy Scout Camp) is about 3 miles away. Asheville is about 45 minutes away.
There is plenty to do and see in the area.
Once you have visited, you will want to come back, as many of my guests do!

We live in Florida, but love to escape to the mountains, especially in the summer, to get away from the Florida heat. In the fall, the leaves are gorgeous and the views are spectacular! Everyone who has ever been there always tell me how much they enjoy my place and many of them come back again. Come and enjoy - you will not want to leave!
We enjoyed the house, we really felt at home. However, the drive to the house was a little scary and steep. We took a wrong turn one night, and ended up on a very steep gravel road. We had to get our tires to catch onto the concrete gutter-thank goodness that was there. Otherwise, who knows what would have happened! My kids were quite scared! I think if we had a 4 wheel drive vehicle, it would have been better. We have a Honda Odyssey. Also, there are dogs that bark in the neighborhood...in the middle of the night...loud. I definitely woke up several times each night. But if you are a deep sleeper, it would be fine. Otherwise, it was a fun place. Great fireplace, cozy atmosphere, and great response whenever I had an inquiry. Super nice people.
Our family enjoyed our stay at Perry's place while visiting the beautiful Waynesville/Maggie Valley area. The cabin was large enough for our whole family and very comfortable.
This property is in a drop dead gorgeous area of the state and is so remote you may consider it a destination more than a base camp. Everything you need is provided at the cabin, including a lovely front porch with rocking chairs. We had to reboot the router for wi-fi several times and there are dogs in the neighborhood who bark at night, but those were the only two minor inconveniences. The driveway is a challenge.
We enjoyed the house and its beautiful surroundings. A few things to note - it takes some skill and practice to get up the driveway. We drive a MINI Cooper, which is about as far from an SUV as you can get, and it was difficult but not impossible. It would have been nice to have this info before we booked the reservation, as we might have made arrangements with our family members to use a different vehicle. The house is well laid out and spacious, but some updates wouldn't come amiss, and the furniture in the living room is broken down and uncomfortable - my first experience was sitting in the recliner, and having the back basically just fall with no resistance, so we avoided it or turned it against the post. Also, I do look for some tv (to relax in the evening) and Internet (as hubby is a tech guy and sometimes needs to get online even on vacation). The listing had said DirecTV to be installed soon, with Internet and a Roku. There was no DirecTV, which Mary Ann explained was unable to be installed, and she has updated the listing. The Internet was very slow to almost nonexistent, despite hubby's reset of router, and while it was offered that we could call AT&T, I didn't feel like we should be doing that on our vacation. Due to the internet speed, you could not watch anything on Roku, as it needed to stream, and you could see maybe 5-10 seconds of something before it stopped and started trying again. We gave up on that.
While I did think the house and setting wonderful, I think that some updates to furniture, decor, and bedding would be required before I would stay here again.
The cabin in the woods was a perfect get away for myself and group of friends! It was equipped with a full kitchen and comfy beds and a great porch for morning coffee with a crossword before embarking on a hike up the nearby Cold Mountain. Only drawback was the steep gravel road up to the house.
Great instructions were given prior to arrival. "Check-in" was easy. Although we did not do much cooking, the kitchen seemed very well stocked. The interiors may be a little dated for some people, but we were comfortable. The spectacular scenery outside was what we were looking for. It is a 45 min. drive, but we enjoyed the historic Dillsboro area as well as exploring the BR parkway. Restaurants we enjoyed were: Angelo's and Fat Buddies BBQ in Waynesville and Speedy Pizza in Sylva. It did not bother us much but be aware there is little to no cell service in the cabin and the WiFi internet connection is slow. This is a positive when looking to get away!
