About Nancy Stewart

My husband retired from the US Air Force in 2001. We love Colorado and the mountains and wanted to retire here. We drove all over the Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Wyoming mountains trying to find the perfect location. When we came to Leadville, we knew we had found the place. It is completely surrounded by mountains, has beautiful views of Colorado's two highest peaks - Mt. Elbert and Mt Massive. Leadville is centrally located in Colorado and within 45 minutes of Vail, Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Beaver Creek. The local ski resort, Ski Cooper, is 15 miles. We can ATV, snowmobile, cross country ski, hike, and bike right out our door.

Nancy Stewart purchased this cottage in 2000

Guestbook comments from the manager

Charming cottage hideaway in downtown Leadville

  • 5 of 5

My wife, infant daughter and I spent two nights at Nancy's cottage and, had our schedule allowed, we would have stayed much longer. The one bedroom cottage was cozy, attractive, and well equipped. Nancy provided us with a pack and play for our daughter to sleep in. A short walk down the hill lands you in downtown Leadville with numerous restaurants, coffee shops and bars to choose from. As a frequent user of shared economy property rentals I give this little cottage my highest recommendation.

Great week in Leadville!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful experience. The in-out was great and expeditious. The house is well situated a couple of blocks from downtown. The kitchen was fantastic and well used. All the amenities great. Didn't have a chance to use the hot tub but sounds fantastic . Thank you to nancy and her son for making us feel at home. I will be back. Leadville up and coming!

Lots of fun in Leadville

  • 4 of 5

My family and I found the quaint cottage in Leadville to be the perfect set up for our ski trip to Copper Mountain. After a long day of skiing we really enjoyed soaking in the hot tub. The walk to downtown Leadville's restaurants, shopping and coffee shops was just two blocks from the cottage. The kids loved visiting the Leadville fishery and eating breakfast at the coffee shop. We always make a point to eat at Quincy's. The authenticity and affordability of Leadville makes it preferable to more tourist destinations. We will be returning next year.

Great place to stay!

  • 4 of 5

Perfect for our first stay in Leadville. King size bed is very comfortable. Kitchen is small but we ate most of our meals out so that wasn't an issue. Just a short drive to Ski Cooper and close to downtown activities. They had had so much snow that sometimes we weren't able to park just outside the cabin, but were able to find a spot within a block. Great spot for our family of four.

The cottage is just as it's described. It is cute, cozy and clean. So nice to have the hot tubs available after a day of skiing and my kids loved it. Bed is very comfortable. Thank you! Hope to return.

Perfect cabin for a laid back ski trip with little skiers

  • 5 of 5

For those seeking unique accommodations in an authentic little ski town, you've found the place. We were seeking a down to earth, quality experience for our 6 and 4 year old ski bunnies, and Ski Cooper along Cloud City Victorian Cottage was perfect. (For larger groups Nancy also offers two adjacent more spacious homes.)

The Pluses:

-The bed and linens upstairs. Perfect rest after a full day on the slopes.

-The hot tub. Clean, close by, and always on. Tip: figure out how to set the thermostat before running out in the snow and hopping in, because it may be HOT.

-The proximity to the best restaurants in Leadville. Short, easy walk to Quincy's and the Tennessee Pass Cafe. Don't miss them!

-The kitchen and bathroom. Small, but quaint and spotless.

-The convertible couch. Very nice, appropriate support for two small kids (or one who is larger). Not at all the garden variety fold-out 4" mattress with those poking springs.

-The view from upstairs. So. Much. Snow. (Unfortunately, too much for us to open the door and enjoy the balcony.)

-The hospitality. Nancy was very generous; she lent us her crockpot to simmer a Ragu sauce and her laundry facilities so that we could drive back to NYC with clean clothes.

Thank you Nancy! -We aim to return.

PS: The cons? None at all. Just make sure you have appropriate transportation for winter driving in the mountains.
