Why The Owner chose Kailua-Kona

Kona is a very relaxing location, not to say there isn't plenty of night life, but if your looking to 'party like it is 1999' you will probably be happier going to Maui :-0

What makes this condo unique

Located right on Alii Drive, in less than a five minute walk will get you to the farmer's market, as well as most of the shops and restaurants in Kona.

Great location, outdated, sort of dirty, in need of repair and updates

The condo is old and outdated. The carpet feels dirty. The sink didn't drain in the master. The dryer is slow to dry. The fans are dirty. The pull out bed was miserable. But it was cheap and the location is great. It's good to have a dedicated parking spot.

Owner's Response: Sorrry you found my place "old and outdated" the kitchen was a total remodel in 2012, Carpets also new in 2012 that I have professionally cleaned twice yearly. Dryer, show me a stackable that drys as well as a full size . . . Pull out beds, again these are not typically very comfortable for large adults. I will be replacing the recliner and the two cane chairs but just about all the other furniture is top quality and locally made.

Everything fine

My family and I loved this place.We had everything we needed. The location was perfect for us, we enjoyed walking in Kona the evening without having to use our car. the only little trouble we had was in the beginning, the internet was down. I mailed Michael to tell him and quickly fixed it. The modem had to be changed. If we go back on Big Island we will certainly go back at Michael place.

Close to all of the action

The property felt a little run down. Hall shower glass doors had hard water stains all over. The master shower tub floor was pretty gross. We had to clean it before using. Kitchen cabinets had a very poor layout. Utensils wouldn't fit in a drawer. Having said the negative it was still nice hearing the waves crash on the shoreline right across the street. Great location for eating and shopping. It is right on the bustling street of downtown Kona. The owner replaced the large TV in the living area promptly when we notified him that it wasn't functioning. The wireless was so slow we stopped using it. Next trip we will stay somewhere else.

Owner's Response: Sorry the tub and shower were not clean to your satisfaction, I have employed the same housekeeper for the last seven years and no one has ever complained before . . . But to claim the place is “run down” because of two items that were not cleaned to your satisfaction seems a little harsh. Unfortunately, the kitchen is small (about 10 x 10) but twice the size of the “kitchens" at the Royal Kona at twice the price. Prior to re-modeling the kitchen three years ago, the cabinets stretched the length of the breakfast bar, thus reducing the view for whoever was in the kitchen, the two cabinets that “bookend" the breakfast bar now have the hinges on the center post, had I not placed the hinges on the center post, those two cabinets would be totally unusable. Can’t say why the utensil wouldn’t fit, but sometimes my guest will buy (and leave behind) an item without giving the “where will it go” a thought. The router is less than two years old, so not sure why it wasn’t working fast enough, but I do have a desk next next to the modem and a cable for the user to connect directly, if one is in need of doing work while on vacation. I will ask my housekeeper to address the hard water stains, and dispose of utensil that don’t have a place.
