Spacious one bedroom apartment

The lower level apartment has a window in the bedroom looking out to the side garden, and another window in the dining area. There's a t.v. with Netflix and DVD player with dvd selections, but no cable. The studio cottage has cable t.v. and dvds. Located on the same property, they're only blocks from NE 28th Ave's "restaurant row", movie theater, park and public transportation. I Recently closed the rooms in the inn, and now offer these two wonderful accommodations for your visit to Portland. See trip advisor for many reviews under Everett Street Guesthouse. Please Note: There are stairs with a railing down to the apartment, so if you have any problems going up and down stairs, please consider renting the cottage or another rental.

About Terry Rusinow

I moved to Portland in 2004 from Healdsburg, California, where I had a gallery of ethnic and American Crafts for 12 years. Before that I had lived in Mendocino, CA. where I worked for a coffee company developing their mail order department, as well as having a jazz radio show and bringing live jazz concerts to the area. I ran the Bed and Breakfast on this property, but after 10 years, have decided to enjoy my home and now offer 2 private accommodations on the property.. I enjoy kayaking, bird watching, travel, movies and cooking.

Terry Rusinow purchased this apartment in 2004

Why Terry Rusinow chose Northeast Portland

I love Portland, and in particular, love this extremely quiet, yet urban, neighborhood. It's perfect for someone visiting Portland, as it's a neighborhood, yet so close to tons of restaurants, cafes, movies, parks and transportation. It's only minutes across the Burnside Bridge to the Pearl District, downtown, etc. I've made both accommodations simple, comfortable and cozy with great outside areas during the Spring and Summer months to enjoy.

What makes this apartment unique

Staying in the apartment or cottage has the benefit of giving you a place to come home to that's not an impersonal motel or hotel. It's your home away from home while you're here with all the comforts of home. I'm on the property to help you with anything you may need--from where to eat, to renting bicycles, to helping with any questions you may have.

Great apartment!

  • 5 of 5

Nice basement apartment in a great area. Bus stop 2 minutes walk away with two quality brewpubs and 8-10 good restaurants within 10 minutes.

We'd highly recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a friendly place with a local feel.

My Review of the Everett Street Guesthouse

  • 5 of 5

PORTLAND OREGON – A REVIEW OF THE EVERETT STREET GUESTHOUSE:

COMFORT: The basement Apartment I stayed in was most comfortable—in the heat of the Portland Oregon Summer, it always stayed cool (I was there in July)

There was a Kitchen with a Microwave and Coffee and Tea always available plus a small refrigerator – those wanting to save money can take home doggie bags and put it in the fridge for a meal later in the day or the next. I always bought Portland’s famous beer and put it in the fridge for a nice treat in the evening.

The Bed was Queen Sized – with clean sheets – super comfortable – there was a window I could open for a nice breeze at night -- and a full-sized closet for hanging up my clothes. I enjoyed the TV with NETFLIX late at night and the Washer and Dryer for cleaning clothes –

The owner provided many travel books and travel magazines about Portland – so if you are wondering what to do – these books proved to be highly useful…each of the books had maps giving precise directions and if you needed further help – one could call TRIMET during their Business Hours M – F and they always gave incredible directions – which Bus you could take to go to a specific location.

LOCATION: talking about location, the location of the guesthouse is superb. It is about 4 blocks from 28th Street where all the great restaurants are, featuring every type of cuisine. Going a bit further on 28th and crossing Burnside – the major East – West thoroughfare, one can find amazing food trucks with great food at very reasonable prices and a Beer Bus, serving beer brewed rom the Pacific Northwest. Do try the Descender Beer from Bend, Oregon, if you like a crisp, full bodied IPA.

Burnside ( a very major thoroughfare and a major East – West Street, dividing Portland North to South ) was about 4 blocks away and you can easily take a city bus downtown or to the Rose Garden (very highly recommended) or to the Reed College Campus with a beautiful park just right next door to the campus, or to the Grotto – a type of religious sanctuary in a beautiful natural park, where one can meditate and get away from the hustle and bustle of Portland.

TRANSPORTATION: I took Trimet everywhere and one can buy daily or weekly passes at Fred Meyer.

NOTE: I did not rent a car to keep my expenses low: this is why I loved the location of the GuestHouse: everything I wanted, from the Movie Theater to the Restaurants (the Screen Door Restaurant on Burnside, was closeby.

Wonderful trip

  • 5 of 5

Terry's place was great! Very cute apartment and comfortable set up. Terry has a guide book waiting for you that will help you navigate the area which we found very useful. So many attractions within a very short walking distance: shops, GREAT restaurants, breweries, gelato... and a very short drive to downtown.

Portland = awesome city. Wish we had stayed longer. It impressed us so much that we even talked about making the big move!
