Just what we needed!

  • 5 of 5

There were 5 of us young adults here for New Years, and it was exactly what we needed, the rooms were perfectly sized, beds were so comfy, we played board games at the kitchen table, put together a puzzle in the living room. I was so happy to see a big pot in the kitchen as I forgot mine for the potato soup I planned to make (maybe best one yet!) We did jump in the lake as a toast to the New Year and getting down the icy ramp was a bit challenging but I think that was an issue maybe only we would run into! LoL. Great experience! thanks so much!

Beautiful views, location

  • 3 of 5

Three of us had a great autumn stay on the lake! A good home base for hiking, scrabble-playing, cooking, and relaxing.

Pros: amazing views of the lake, and the mountains on the south end of the lake. The location is great-- lakefront but still a fairly quick trip into Joseph for anything you need. The house has plenty of space to spread out with three bedrooms away from the living space, and the living/dining/kitchen space is fantastic! It's big, open, warm, and fronted by amazing lake views off the deck.

Cons: we'd really recommend putting in a railing on the stairs. They're kind of wide open in the middle of the floor, so this place might not be a good fit if you have someone in your party that might get nervous navigating stairs without a rail, or for young kids, until there's a railing of some sort installed. There's no heat source upstairs (just very cozy bedding!), which probably isn't an issue most of the season here, but if you're staying while it's fall/winter, it gets chilly upstairs. There are a couple of small upkeep things that we noticed too-- lots of the towels smell mildewy, some windows/doors are missing screens, and many of the light bulbs are out around the house.

We can tell this house has been enjoyed by many! It's well-worn and has some quirks, but the location, views, and value for them is really hard to beat.

Beautiful views and a cozy place to stay. The home is nice and clean. We would recommend it .

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay, the house was so quaint and the location was just perfect. We all needed some down time and that is what we got. So peaceful and quiet. The weather was great and we fished off the dock and bank. We had a fire in the fire pit two of the nights we were there. We were not ready to come back to the real world so, I would say it was a success. We would stay here again.

Great location, but needs upkeep

  • 3 of 5

The house is pretty run down inside and out. A thorough cleaning, de-cluttering, some new dishes, pillows, and blankets would be a good start. Given the location, the morning sun on the deck, the lake access... it could be a great place, but it isn't now.

Pleasantly Surprised!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed the last week of summer and had a wonderful time. The view was amazing, weather perfect, lake beautiful, and the lake house was spacious, clean, and met all of our needs. It was also well stocked with basic supplies. We had five in our party, three adults and two teenagers. We were able to meet the owners, they came to extend the dock so we could better enjoy the water as water levels were low. They were kind and helpful, we really enjoyed visiting with them. The one and only suggestion we have is to replace and/or add some screens on sliding door and a couple of windows to keep the bugs out. Otherwise we had an awesome stay at Wallowa Lake!

It was great. Karin. and Gus have made some improvements since the last time we stayed.

  • 5 of 5

This was the second time my husband and I stayed at the house. My husband, son and our daughter-in-law loved the new boat dock! Karin had told me the fish were biting and they were. We had a great fish fry one night for dinner!

Our grandsons (5 and 1) had fun.....we had to put up the baby gate to keep Connor from going up the stairs. He started walking while we were there. Must have been that great lake atmosphere! 😊򒠊

The only issues we had was that there was only one bathroom......that and the stairs: with a bad back, knees and hips, it taxed my husband and I a little.....oh, but the view from the deck more than made up for it!

It's a lovely place and we thoroughly enjoyed our selves and hope to come again. Wallowa Lake is a great place to get away, regroup and refresh body and mind. Our thanks to Karin and Gus.
