Ten foot ceilings and craftsmen woodwork throughout making this a memorable getaway. Two large casement windows open wide to bring the amazing view right into the living room. Comfortably sleeping 5 with three bedrooms and two baths one featuring a giant tub with a view of the bay. The kitchen features hardwood floors, granite counters and service for up to 9. A large deck with gas BBQ adjacent to the kitchen dining area is great for outside entertaining with a private garden featuring a Koi pond. Located in a quiet semi-residential neighborhood with the Cliffhouse restaurant across the street for a meal out or just cocktails on their deck.

About Chris Volker

This rather large King crab came to dinner with a couple of his friends when we where visiting our son and his family in Korea. Most of the time we are in Bellingham maintaining the property you see in the pictures. My wife and I live in the downstairs flat.

Western Washington University is 2 blocks away with downtown Bellingham and historic Fairhaven equal distance and both easily reached by the interurban trail 2 blocks below by the bay. Lots of parking on the street. The convenience of location makes it easy to get to where you want to go. Take a water taxi to the San Juan Islands from Fairhaven. One hour to Vancouver B.C. or an hour and a half to Mt. Baker or Seattle. You will quickly see Bellingham has unlimited activities to offer with a central hub location.

Perfect Labor Day weekend

Stayed at the Southhill Flat over Labor Day for my cousins wedding, immediately spotted the house because of its beautiful garden, made our way up the stairs to be greeted by a lovely gray cat named Grace (outdoor cat) very friendly. The flat itself is charming, clean, spacious and private even with owners downstairs in separate unit. Living room has great big bay windows with ocean views. First bedroom on the left is a twin bed with tv ocean view, 2nd bedroom queen size with its own tv as well and ocean view, master suite upstairs with a massive bathtub and beautiful ocean views from bathroom and garden views from bedroom. Only shower is downstairs but very spacious, there were 5 of us total and no one felt cramped. Things to note; stairs stairs stairs! My sister has a bad foot but she made it and my father would get a little out of breath, not easy if you are traveling with someone elderly or wheelchairs. It was a warm weekend and we couldn't seem to cool down with ac but fan provided by owner was super helpful (kept in upstairs master room). The cliffhouse restaurant is actually closed down we were very bummed but a quick drive into the town and there are plenty of alternatives. All in all it was a great time and would recommend over hotels in the area. Boulevard park is a 15 min walk down the street. Sheryl is very lovely to deal with and responsive, easy access no stress and she even intercepted a package for me prior to my arrival. Look forward to staying here again ! As a vacation rental agent in Palm Springs CA I can be quite picky and this place didn't give me any reasons !!

Beautiful home!

This home perched on a hill with a smashing view of Bellingham Bay is a gem of a house, great for family or friends. The owners are friendly, and the house is both roomy and cozy, with a great deck in the backyard overlooking a beautifully kept garden and koi pond. Highly recommended!

Charming flat perfect for our B'ham stay

Convenient location with lovely view. Steep steps but my 92-yr old mother was able to handle them, slowly, with no problem. Spacious kitchen, dining room, deck, and living room made this far preferable to a hotel for a small family of 5. Only suggestion is to put a hand held shower faucet in the upstairs bath.

Comfortable and roomy with wonderful view!

This is a lovely flat with three bedrooms, a full kitchen, two bathrooms, dining are, and a living area with a magnificent view of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains. Parking is readily available. The kitchen is large and well appointed. Communication with the hosts was excellent.

Beautifully renovated 1917 charmer!

The property is just gorgeous. Huge contemporary kitchen that is extremely well equipped that is open to a large dining area that includes both a dining room table and breakfast counter. Large outdoor deck with nice furniture and a new gas barbecue overlooking Chris's beautiful garden and koi pond.

The living room looks out over Bellingham Bay so it is peaceful to sit and watch the boats going in and out of the marina, watch spectacular sunsets and have a vista that includes Orca and Lummi Islands as well as the coastal mountain range of Canada! All three beds are extremely comfortable with well-appointed linens and down pillows. The downstairs bedrooms both have views of the bay. The large master suite upstairs overlooks the garden, but the master bath has a huge soaking tub and wall-to-wall windows with the same view as the living room.

We absolutely loved property and can't wait to stay there again!

Lovely Flat

My sister and I really enjoyed staying at this wonderful flat, such beautiful views of the bay and the flat itself was just awesome. We loved watching the koi in the pond and the backyard garden was beautiful. Beds were very comfortable and the rest of the house was just so inviting. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.
