Why the Owners Chose Mount Baker: : Glacier is a beautiful and peaceful place with lots of things to do. We chose Glacier and The Mt. Glacier is a wonderful small town, with friendly people, a few great restaurants (Graham's, Milano's, Chair 9 Pizza and the Wake'n Bakery) and a world class ski and snowboard resort just 30 minutes away. Enjoy hikes, scenic drives and local events. We are close to the necessities of life, but yet away from the hustle & bustle. The city of Bellingham is just 40 minutes away. It is a step back in time when life was simpler. We came for a visit, fell in love with the area and decided to own a part of the experience and area forever. Now we want to share it with everyone!

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin: Lots of relaxing, great walks, hikes and recreation in the summer, fantastic skiing and snowboarding in the winter. Then after the day activities soak in the hot tub on the private deck covered with a gazebo.

We are having a great time. Your cabin is great! We went up to Artist Point today and my mom said it was one of the highlights of her 73 years!

Really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It is very clean, nice bedding, comfortable furnishings and the bonus was the covered hot tub!

Mt Baker and Heather Meadows

  • 3 of 5

The property was located in an excellent spot to tour the Mt. Baker and Heather Meadows National Recreation areas. Note that one can not get to the North Cascades NP. directly from there; one must go south considerably. Also, the Mt. Baker and Heather Meadows areas are not well marked locally nor advertised nationally. One can go to an Information Center in Glacier, WA and get excellent information.

We have been in 22 National Parks and found the Heather Meadows area by accident. It is the prettiest place we have ever visited and hiked. The Photographic Lake is indeed just that and a oicture of it with its fall foilege and Mt. Baker in the background is super. If anyone wants to see videos and pictures of these two areas, plus the same for 22 National Parks and many State Parks and other areas, go to "For the Beauty of It All" at my website www.BearleyBear.com

The log cabin was in good shape and provided all the necessities. There are several things that can be fixed. There was no television; what we got was a message saving the signal was too weak. There was no WiFi; one party could log on and receive some messages but if two tried it, it failed for all. The bed in the downstairs bedroom is massive and comfortable--if you can get to it. It is way too high and we 70 year olds made it but with great difficulty. In a couple of years, we couldn't get in. The bathroom shower needs a safety bar or two to hang on to getting in or out. Adding this will avoid a future law suit.

Expect the combination to the lock box not to work; the store owner where it is located will nicely let you use their phone to call for the present one. He says he does this all the time.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review. We appreciate you choosing us for your getaway. We agree that Heather Meadows is one of the most beautiful places in the world and is one of the best kept secrets no doubt. We highly encourage all of our guests to go check it out. We do have an LCD TV, but the DirectTV has been off an on lately so we have replaced DirectTV with a Roku streaming device that has Netflix, HULU and other streaming channels for entertainment. As far as WIFI connection we have Frontier DSL Internet and this is the first challenge I have heard about it. Every time we go up to visit and work form the cabin we have had great internet service. When in doubt we always recommend just resetting the modem and that usually will improve any connection issues you may experience. We now have step stools for each side of the log cabin bed to assist those who have a challenge getting up to the bed. You are right about it being massive and comfortable. We beleive the stools will address any challenges here on out. Thank you for the recommendation and feedback. We send a very comprehensive cabin directions and key pick-up instructions .pdf that explains all the steps to secure the keys. We suggest guests print this out before they travel as this has all the pertinent information to ensure a seamless cabin experience for our guests. Thank you again for the review. We take our guest feedback very seriously and strive to make sure we have everything to make our guests experiences top notch.

Clean, well appointed, and blissfully quiet.

  • 5 of 5

My only suggestion is to provide a step to assist access to the high bed in the downstairs bedroom for your "vertically challenged" (short) guests.

This cabin is a gem.

This was a great way to get away and with a short travel time

  • 5 of 5

I had been thinking for sometime about renting a cabin when I found this gem. My trip was planned a personal retreat for just me and it couldn't have been more perfect. A nice walk to the river, quiet and peaceful area made it perfect. The cabin was cleaned and all the necessities minus the food and travel things. I am already counting down the days to when I go back!

The area offers a ton of peace and tranquility with plenty of areas around the cabin to walk, hike, enjoy the sounds of the creek and river. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the cleanliness of the cabin and all we provide for comfort homey stay. We look forward to having you back soon.
