|Minimum Stay||2 - 6 nights|
Our family friendly home sits in a beautiful, serene mountain setting with amazing views! We are only three miles to downtown Breckenridge and the slopes.
Our 2,100 square foot home has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, two living areas, and an updated kitchen with stainless steel appliances.
The kitchen is stocked with All-Clad pots and pans, Crock pot, pancake griddle, coffee/tea maker and we keep spices, condiments, coffee, tea, hot chocolate. Everything for the gourmand to cook a delicious meal.
There are flat screen televisions in both living areas and in each bedroom. You will also find DVD players with movies, a Wii game system and games, air hockey, board games and lots of books. No one should ever get bored here! The downstairs living room has a cast iron fireplace; a great way to snuggle up and watch movies together.
Outside keep your feet warm as you walk outside on the heated mat as you slip into our Arctic Spa hot tub. Fire up our one of a kind, custom made gas fire pit (just like at the ski slopes). Or, relax in the hammock for afternoon naps, multiple deck chairs and a two-seater swing to sit and relax.
You never have to worry about shoveling snow, we we have a company who plows the drive and shovels the deck. You can just enjoy your vacation!
When you leave the cabin, you are only minutes from so many fun and adventurous activities. In the winter, ski or snowboard at Breckenridge (which is only a five minute drive away), cross country ski, snow shoe, snowmobile, or catch a ride on the free Summit Express Shuttle service you pick up in Breckenridge and go ski at Keystone, or Arapaho Basin. Copper Mountain and Vail resorts are all a short drive as well.
After a day on the slopes you can hit some of the great restaurants in town. Not in the mood to ski or snowboard? How about a sleigh ride or even snow mobile tour? Or, you might take the kids (or just the young at heart) to the great tubing hill in Frisco. Forget your winter coat? There is great shopping in downtown Breck or even hit the outlet mall at Silverthorne.
During warmer months, there are hundreds of trails in Summit County to explore. You can hike a 14er, bike over the pass to Keystone, go white water rafting, catch a ride on a zip line, learn to fly fish, take a Jeep or ATV tour, tour the local gold mines.
In addition, there is always something going on in town, ice sculpture contests, music and festivals, or spend a day at one of the great spas and get a massage.
We are a military family. Matt grew up in NY. After graduating from West Point (Go Army), he spent 24 years on active duty Army before retiring and taking a desk job. Holly is a Texan and went to Texas A&M (Gig Em) and is a real estate broker and renovation designer.
Holly purchased this house in 2009
We chose this location for the proximity to downtown Breckenridge yet far enough from town to enjoy peace and quiet. We are very close to ski lifts, Quandry Peak and Goose Pasture Tarn (local lake 1/2 mile from the house). We are only four houses off Highway 9 (Main road through town). We are minutes from the ski lifts and tons of great hiking, snow shoeing, cross country skiing and biking. It is a wonderful get away. One of the most scenic mountain areas in the US with unlimited outdoor activities: Snow Skiing, snowboarding, tubing, mountain biking, fishing, whitewater rafting, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, hiking, nature, ice skating and more.Truly a beautiful area.
Two living rooms (one upstairs and one downstairs) means the adults and kids can have their own spaces. Game-room with TV, DVD player, air hockey, Wii with games, books, and board games. There are TVs in every bed room and in both living areas. Free high-speed internet and WiFi use and a desk top computer for your use. Large outdoor deck with hot tub, large gas fire pit, hot tub, and custom made log chairs. Tree house for the young or just young at heart! Three miles from the ski lifts. We have everything you need for your little ones too: high chair, booster seat, toddler table with chairs, sippy cups, bibs, kid friendly dishes, and even a pack n play.
Beautiful! Was a huge blessing to our whole family. Never knew life could be this good. We loved our stay here-everything was set up so well. We cooked a couple evenings and even grilled burgers outside for my son's 20th birthday. You have a great place here- it is all so beautiful. Thanks for taking such care to make this a great memory for us!
The cabin is everything you imagine and more. A perfect get away to enjoy family and friends, while enjoying the surrounding winter scenery. You feel secluded in your mountain home. The kids were never bored due to the air hockey, foosball, and Wii. The home is well equipped with kitchen items, you name it, it was there. The market/grocery store is very close to the cabin. The owner Holly was always on the ball and responded immediately. Everyone was sad to leave, and are talking about coming back in the summer or spring.
Our family of 5 had a fantastic time staying at this cabin over the Christmas and New Year holidays. The cabin is located close to town but far enough out to be very quiet and relaxing. The owners did a fantastic job of communicating with us and making sure our stay was enjoyable. The cabin was very comfortable and warm, even in the cold winter months. The appliances were modern so we were able to prepare some of our own meals. With the cable TV service we did not have to miss any of the college bowl games. I recommend this cabin for a comfortable and relaxing stay.
There are just as many things to enjoy inside this beautiful cabin as there are outside. From the well stocked game room to the fire pit and hot tub, we enjoyed every minute of our stay. I want to go back already!
WOW, just WOW! What an amazing place to rent for our first trip to Breckenridge. This cabin has superb finishes, high quality linens, and loads of space in a quiet setting yet just minutes from downtown Breckenridge. We arrived to a hand written note from the owners and a nice bottle of wine. The fridge had beers and bottles of water already in it. The cabin itself had all the right touches and was superbly done with high end furnishings, creature comforts and all the modern conveniences you could ask for. The main floor has a nice entry way, large living room, dining area, kitchen with a large master suite and secondary bedroom on the main floor as well as a laundry room and another full bathroom. The upper floor had another large bedroom, 3/4 bath and a large open entertaining space with a foosball table, air hockey table, plenty of seating and a tv with a gaming system and more games than you can imagine. The cabin is approximately five minutes from downtown Breckenridge but is just off a main road in a lovely, secluded area with tons of trees and wildlife. What I found most amazing about this getaway was the thoughtfulness of the owners. They provided area information, laundry soap, fabric softener (my wife's input) and many other items that you normally have to purchase and that you can never take home with you after the fact. I found these types of inclusions to be the exception rather than the rule when I've stayed in other VRBOs. We will be back again soon as my 12 year old just asked me the other day when we were headed back to "our cabin" as he now calls it.
The house was comfortable and reasonably clean, family and kid friendly, owners very helpful and responsive as others have said. It is an easy 5 minute drive to Main Street. However, I can't recommend this house for a summer stay relative to other similarly priced properties in the area.
This was our first trip to the area. For others who may be unfamiliar, be sure to verify location. The location area shown on the listing (west of Hwy 9) is not accurate. The house is east of Hwy 9, actually outside the radius shown. Even if you have the street address, some mapping sites show it correctly and others don't. This matters because many of the houses in the neighborhood do back up to the creek and/or woods. This one does not; it is an interior lot surrounded on all sides by roads, other houses, and power lines.
Previous reviews paint a perfect picture, but we didn’t find it to be altogether accurate. One review says, “Mountain biking/road cycling & hiking were right outside our door,” which just isn’t true. The only way to get to anything from the house is on Hwy 9, which is not safe to walk or bike on. It is not “nestled in the woods” as others have described. The first thing you see when you pull off Hwy 9 is someone’s work trailer advertising their flooring business. The next thing you see directly ahead is a power pole with power lines going four directions, obstructing what would otherwise be a nice view of the hills. Right next to the pole is an old plow truck parked in someone’s front yard (typical of the neighborhood). The house faces this intersection. That and the highway noise 50 yards away prevent it from feeling very secluded. Frankly, I felt like the neighborhoods adjacent to Main Street Breckenridge felt just as "woodsy" and "mountainy", and they have better views and are within walking distance of both town and trails.
Again the owners have done a great job and are good hosts, which has been well documented by others. I just think there are lots of other houses in the area (at least one even in this neighborhood) that are just as nice and offer more pleasant/explorable surroundings, not to mention actual mountain views and/or walking access to trails, etc., with lower nightly rates. This may be the perfect place for you, just be sure to ask plenty of questions and don't take all the photos/reviews for grante
We stayed with three kids and the cabin had many things for them to do as described. The owners were very helpful and responded quickly with anything we asked. It was very homey and had everything you would want. Great spot. We would stay again.
Our home is 3 miles from downtown Breckenridge and the Breckenridge Ski Resort. You can also pick up a free shuttle at the Breckenridge Gondola Lot to get to Keystone and Arapaho Basin resorts.
