Tim Harbison or Peyton Yon purchased this house in 2003
We had a great week in this home. The pictures on the VRBO site were a very good representation of the various rooms and spaces within the home. The home was very spacious and well kept. The beach was very close, private, and quiet. We loved all of the glass windows and doors across the back of the home... these provided great views of the ocean all day. Given the privacy of the island, the night sky was filled with stars. On the clear nights, we enjoyed turning off all of the lights after dark and sitting on the upper porch to get a better view of the thousands of stars. We did have to work/travel a bit to find activities for our teenage sons but had great outings to Wakula Springs and St. George Island (for jet skiing). We appreciated the opportunity that the owner provided to do some light cleaning/straightening up of the home and save on the cleaning fee. This location is a bit remote so it is good to bring as many groceries and supplies when you come to the home. Overall we liked this home and would stay here again if we return to Alligator Point.
We walked in an immediately noticed it was roomy and open - well maintained and exceptionally clean for an older house - and the beach was less than 100 yards away, just a short walk down the sandy trail. Panacea Businesses were a little "iffy" but I will "Yelp" about those somewhere else... I will have to say Big Daddy's Pizza was as advertised, Very Good Pizza! Very nice outside seating area and did I mention it is right on the beach!!?? Everything went very smoothly from check in to check out. House was big enough for my family of 7 with room to spare. Well stocked with almost everything we needed. Nice pots and pans, plenty of dishes, cleaning supplies, some spices, wifi was easy to get on, nice TV's in every bed room. Get Groceries before you get to Panacea would be my recommendation.
We had a great time here. Everything in the house same as in the photos. Big room for both masters. We enjoyed the view of gulf while we were coooking. The back patio with cover is the best part so we enjoyed sitting outside all day. Our kids had so much fun on the beach looking for crabs, especially at night there were tons of them. In the morning we found starfishes, horseshoe crab, lots of hermit crabs and other animals. What a great family vacation! Tim helped with any questions that we have as well. We will definitely come back again.
We've been vacationing at Waters Edge for a decade and it is truly the perfect place for relaxation. The house is open, has tons of windows to enjoy the ocean views and is fully outfitted with dishes, dishwasher, washer & dryer and several bedrooms. Whether you love swimming/bobbing around in the water, sitting with your feet in the surf, building sand castles, hunting for shells, sunbathing or just relaxing on the deck with an ice cold beverage, Waters Edge has it all!
There is a large TV in the living room and smaller ones in each bedroom, the internet works well and there are even some books and games for families to use. The kitchen has a toaster, microwave, blender and coffee maker. The house has always been spotless when we arrive and the few times we've had to contact the owners, they are super friendly and helpful! There are always dolphins (we see them every year) and many types of birds doing crazy antics. The deck is frequently visited by a cute little gecko and we even had a box turtle show up this trip!
While I have done all of the adventures I listed above, my favorite thing is hanging out on the deck. I make use of the chaise lounges on the uncovered portion each morning, but move to the table under the covered portion of the deck once I've had enough sun. I pretty much live there - enjoying all manner of icy beverages, chatting with family members, listening to the awesome sounds of the waves, staring out at the ocean, coloring (yes adult coloring is soooo fun and relaxing) or reading a book. There is almost always a light breeze, so bugs don't tend to be much of an issue. Hubby is in his element making nachos and deviled eggs for us to enjoy on the deck, and nothing beats burgers, hotdogs and steak from the grill. Ahhhhhh, how awesome does this sound?
The beach is mostly deserted during the week and you only see a few people walking their dogs or fishing. Activity picks up on the weekends, but honestly, I could combine all the people I've seen on the beach over the past decade and still not come up with anything approaching the chaos of a place like Ocean City, MD. If you do NEED to see other people, there are a couple of restaurants just over the bridge.
I really feel Waters Edge is the best. We started coming here when our son was ten and have had family here ranging in age from 10 to 75. My mom and all my siblings have been here at one time or other and they look forward to it as much as we do. Again, ahhhhhh.
We really enjoyed the stay. The beach was a very short walk from the house. We seen more dolphins there then any other place we've stayed at before, which the kids really loved! We would definitely stay there again!!
