Guestbook comments from the manager

June 9 -12 2012 was the third visit for my fiend Bob & I. We started in 2010 – see my review “Cabin or Cottage?” 06/26/2010 – and looked forward to returning each year. This year I brought my 5.5 year old grandson. This was our first overnight experience together and I am happy to say we both ‘survived.’ The in cabin Dish TV helped two old guys temper the boundless energy of this boy for part of the time. But it was the fishing bug that secured his eternal(?) interest in fishing, and returning to Fish Inn. He caught 7 fish in two days on Hat Creek. I was shocked, amazed and thrilled. My friend & I and I have never had more fun fishing without wetting a line, or our pants. Joann & Ray are great people and have just the right sense for how much external attention their guest desire. The cabin is flawless and maintained in an impeccable manner. You will not be disappointed when spending a few days at Fish Inn.

Recommended for:Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

Perfect place for us and our furry friends

  • 5 of 5

Had a late Thanksgiving at the Fish Inn in Old Station. A perfect time to visit! Ray and Joann are perfect hosts and are perfectly hilarious and most helpful. The back yard is fully enclosed so even my two little Schipperkes could not escape. I live in a 5th floor condo in SF, so this was heaven for them. The kitchen is large and has excellent appliances fit for a feast. The nearby gas station has literally everything you might need and JJ's cafe is truly excellent. This made for a wonderful Thanksgiving. Everyone was hauling Christmas trees! You get a permit for $10, they give you a map and you go cut down a tree or two. So much fun!

This is the Place !!!!!👏

  • 5 of 5

My 3 week stay at Fish Inn was so relaxing and enjoyable with such beautiful scenery, friendly people, new things to see and do.

Joanne and Ray are lovely people who really care that you have a wonderful time in the house and during your stay. I recommend it to everyone.

The house felt like home and had everything my puppy and I needed for our stay. My family joined me for some of the time and also had a great time. My daughter even came up from the Bay Area twice to stay for a few days. Ray even arranged an outdoor fire twice and we roasted marshmallows and made s'mores and told stories and laughed a lot.

Thanks to Joanne and Ray for the

Comfortable home, the never-ending supply of clean towels, the handy information on the things to see and do and how to get there, and the

Instant offer to help me at the start of my stay when I got lost.

Love from Linda and Monte

Nice place

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Fish Inn very much. A cute little place. It is stocked with everything one would need. Lots of things to do in the area. As the name applies, a great place for fishing, just out the back gate and just steps to Hat Creek. This place was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this to other vacationers.

Great place and fantastic location.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here the first week in Oct. (2017). The place is perfect for a couple or small family, and is very clean and comfortable. A decent-size back yard is fenced in case you want to bring your four-legged family members. We didn't bring our two this time, but wouldn't hesitate to bring them next time. .

A note about the location: The national forest is on the other side of the backyard fence, and there is a short trail to Hat Creek, where you can fish within a couple minutes walk from the Fish Inn. There are a number of other places to fish (stream & lake) less than an hour away whether you go north, south or east. There are many nearby hiking options too, and if you like geology, you'll have a blast exploring the areas remnants of volcanic activity.

Ray & Joann are very cordial and greeted us when we arrived. Other than inquiring about a hiking condition, we didn't need to contact them while we were there, but it was conforting knowing they were available for assistance.

We'll be planning a return trip, perhaps in the Spring.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your informative review. We do love this area and are happy to share our knowledge or leave our guests their privacy. So glad you enjoyed your stay and we know you'd love the spring here as well. Each season here has it's own beauty. Even though the Park and stream fishing are closed in winter, there is cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, sledding, Christmas Tree cutting, and just taking a frosty walk up the creek.
