|Minimum Stay||5 - 8 nights|
High on a breezy ridge, overlooking the Fish and Wildlife Refuge and Bays of the Caribbean, Casa La Puerta is a quiet, private, 3 bedroom/3 bath villa. Enjoy the dramatic view of the Caribbean from the covered porch and outdoor terrace that overlooks the pool, sun deck and tropical plants. Cook a Caribbean meal in the newly renovated kitchen with concrete counters and stainless steel appliances. If you desire to stay connected with the outside world, make use of the Wireless connection. Walk around the gardens and take an outdoor shower in the sunshine.
Casa La Puerta is located mid island, between Isabel Segundo and the beautiful Caribbean Ocean. Take an energetic walk around the hillsides of Destino, while viewing local tropical flowers, plants, fruit trees, birds and views of the Atlantic and Caribbean Sea. Stop along the way, pick a few mangos, limes and carambola for your breakfast smoothie.
The Casa is equipped to make your stay carefree and comfortable.
I called my sister the minute we settled in to inform her “this is our best Caribbean house rental ever!”
What a joy to leave the snow and cold in Chicago and enjoy your gorgeous garden, home and décor. You were right, it's as good if not better than a resort. We can't report on too many of the beaches because we couldn't drag ourselves out the door.
Thanks for the restaurant suggestions We loved the pino colados as Mar Azul, the pulled rib quesadilla at Bili, everything about Quenepo and the Caribbean lobster at Trade Winds was the best we have ever had. Next time we come will have to try a few more beaches, but we really enjoyed the beautiful home in the bunker hills. Thank you.
My husband and I, our daughter and husband, and two grandchildren, ages 2 and 4, just spent our second stay in in Casa La Puerta, and it has spoiled us for all other options in Vieques. This home is so comfortable, beautifully decorated, and well equipped, also private and quiet (which can be hard to find on Vieques). The layout is well planned--everyone had their own bedroom-- that we could have time alone, or we could spend time together on the outdoor patio and at the pool. The home is kid friendly with well-secured access to the pool and all the rooms on one level. The house is centrally located which makes for an easy drive to any of the beaches and either of the two towns. I envy anyone who has the opportunity to spend their time on Vieques in Casa la Puerta!
Casa Ls Puerta was like living in an art gallery! The pool was wonderful and private. The house was beautiful with three separate private bedrooms, each with its own bath. The artwork was exquisite and the architectural touches complemented the whole, inside and out.
Freddy, the man who cares for the property was friendly and very helpful.
My family (myself. my husband, 13yo and 10 yo) stayed at Casa La Puerta for a week in July. The home was perfect for our needs. The home is very secure-fully gated, barred windows, security system. There is also a safe. Once your are inside the view really stands out. It's a million dollar view, so to speak. With three bedrooms and three bathrooms our family of four was very comfortable. Two of the bedrooms have air conditioning and that was helpful at night. The pool is well maintained. We cooked dinner at home two nights using the grill and the kitchen is very well equipped.
If you have small children the layout of the house may not be ideal since the master suite is separate from the main house. That's the only possible drawback to this house. We hope to be back. Vieques is a magical place...
My husband, myself and our 2 grown sons had a wonderful time at Casa La Puerta. The house was in a great location with easy access to both towns. The house looked great in the pictures and not only lived up to, but surpassed our expectations. It was clean, had lovely yet comfortable furnishings, a well equipped kitchen, killer views and wonderful outdoor spaces which got a lot of use. We appreciated all the beach equipment and the large grill. The only drawback at all was at times the water pressure left something to be desired. The house manager, Karen, was friendly and very helpful with local information and recommendations. We rented a car from Jurgen across the street at Abreeze Guesthouse. It was quick and easy, the car was well maintained and clean. He picked us up at the airport, drove us to the house and helped us get acclimated on the way. We loved the many beaches we could get to, Sun Bay being one of our favorites. But check current beach closings before you go to avoid disappointments. A number of beaches that we had planned to go to, that had formerly been part of military holdings, were closed due to the discovery of unexploded ordnance and rental vehicles were no longer allowed on the road to Green Beach after a road wash out. The night tour of the Bio-Bay was amazing. As of this summer, in order to protect the bay, trips were limited to weekends only, so plan accordingly. We extended our stay by a day to take a tour and it was well worth it. We ate at Bananas looking out over the water, more than once and enjoyed it each time, especially their great happy hour. We had breakfast at Bellybuttons. Great pancakes. We had a birthday dinner at Quenepos. A great place for a celebration. I would definitely recommend this property to everyone.
We had our best family vacation ever at Casa La Puerta! The house is wonderful, with gorgeous views and a sparkling pool (the pool guy came and cleaned at least twice while we were there, which was fantastic). The kitchen is very well-equipped; and the owners have thought of everything and provided it for guests. Toys & towels for the pool and beach, coolers, reusable water bottles, card and games, DVDs, extensive restaurant recommendations & guidebooks...you name it! The house was spacious and immaculately clean with tasteful furniture, and the owners graciously loaned us everything we needed for our two year old - carseat, high chair, pack and play. This made travelling so much easier.
Our older kids (4 and 6) were thrilled with the pool and of course the island's incredible beaches. The grownups loved the grill, and sitting outside on the terrace after the kids were in bed. Our favorite beaches (all great for young children) were Media Luna, Secret Beach (aka Plata Prieta), Sun Bay and Blue Beach. Our favorite restaurants were Next Course, Tradewinds, Duffy's and Bili. (We also had a great lunch at the W Hotel but that resort isn't really in keeping with Vieques' laid back island life.)
We rented a Jeep from Juergen at Abreeze guest house, which was very straightforward; he can pick up from the airport and drop you back there, and Abreeze is very close to Casa La Puerta.
Overall, I would absolutely recommend this fantastic family-friendly house to anyone wanting to visit Vieques.
This home was perfect for our second trip to Vieques! With three lovely bedrooms (essentially two masters plus a third bedroom) and a large but still intimate gathering area. Note that the two largest bedrooms are separated by the outdoor space: perfect for two couples vacationing together, maybe not so much for families with young children. The outdoor eating area is a huge plus with a beautiful view of the ocean and the pool. Every amenity was available- grill, beach chairs, toys, towels, board games, etc. etc.
With a full security system plus bars on most of the windows we felt very safe in this house. It was an easy drive to both Esperanza, Isabel II and the beaches.
A bigh asset to this rental is the terrific property manager, Karen, who was knowledgeable, helpful and welcoming!
