About paul lewis

My father and I bought this property. We renovated this beautiful old home for 2 years and is not your typical lake house. It is very charming, has a Hollywood history, and reminiscent of old Florida.

paul lewis purchased this house in 2002

Why paul lewis chose Pomona Park

It is a beautiful one-of-a-kind property. Here are some of the nice things said by past guests.

Dear Mr. Lewis,

Thank you for allowing us to “play” at your lovely vacation home. It is truly a magnificent place. The sunsets were spectacular. If we were out it was our goal to return to see the sun set! Although the house was built during certainly simpler time, it was really fun to experience some of the glamour of that era.

We met some of the locals and they made us feel very much at home and furnished us with fresh oranges & tangerines from their grove.

It was a most pleasant Florida vacation.

Happy Holidays to you & your family,

Jim, Jeannie, Stefanie, Jack & Laurel

Mr Lewis

What a beautiful place!

Enjoyed the lake for swimming & fishing. The kitchen was just great

For that fried catfish and fresh vegetables. Very comfortable.

Mr Lewis

Oh my God. I can’t express what a wonderful feeling stepping into your gracious home.

It’s our first day here in Pomona Park Fl.

We are part of the party from Colorado. This won’t be the last time you hear from me.

Our stay here was or has become one of our favorite memories. We have seen more of Florida than all of our other trips. We celebrated our anniversary by sitting out at the deck and enjoying our time. Thanks so much for giving me that small gift, and look forward to returning.

Centennial Colorado

What makes this house unique

This is a serene old historic estate with charm and grace. A place never to be forgotten.

Mr Lewis

There were 8 of us and we all loved the place. I don’t know which was more fun? Going to the 500 or staying at the house. The entire experience from the beginning when I found the picture of the house to the first time we pulled up to the front and said our BIG “WOWS”. I now feel that I am leaving my grandmas house of many years ago. So happy to be here and so sad to leave.

Mr Lewis

Jack and I enjoyed your lake house. It’s beautiful, comfortable, and historic. We rested, met a few people, and fished a little. We would see it would be perfect for a family of 10 or 2 like us!.

Mr Lewis

We enjoyed very much the beautiful Lake Broward and the sunset. We also enjoyed the comfort and ambiance of this lovely home. The kitchen was a dream to work in with all of the modern appliances.

Beautiful home - great setting!

  • 4 of 5

A group of 12 of us stayed comfortably and enjoyed beautiful sunsets every night. Great place to unwind, relax, & enjoy nature. Out only negative was that the house was not stocked with paper goods and essentials such as trash bags, toilet paper, etc. I've stayed in many VRBO's over the years and it's a nice touch! Especially since shopping is not conveniently close. Overall great house! Plenty of room to enjoy a large group ;)

Marvelous Estate/Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Are you ready to escape to the beauty of “Old” Florida. The way Florida used to look before strip malls and concrete covered over her history and majesty. Then you have chosen the right place with this rental. It begins in the front yard which is draped in giant Live Oaks, wearing their moss like a long beautiful mane of hair, testaments of strength and time.

You are greeted with gentle breezes off the lake in the morning, as you have your coffee on the large covered veranda. You will glance across the lake, and see the white blooms on the lily pads, dancing in the mid-morning sun. The sandhill cranes fly in to feed on the acorns and along the water’s edge, tall and prehistoric looking. The blue heron, white egret, and mallard ducks, all make their visits to the premise, a wonder to behold.

Each evening you will be greeted with amazing sunsets, dining on the table at the dock as the water reflects the brilliant pinks and oranges of the setting sun. You will watch the fish skip across the surface of the lake and if you are lucky, you will see the frogs hopping and swimming in and around the grasses along the bank. Drink your wine or cast a line as you enjoy the end of your day.

The house is roomy and comfortable and evokes images of the Southern lifestyle of yesteryear. Privacy abound and extremely peaceful, at least in the month of April. The kitchen is very large and comfortable to work in. The bed was most comfortable though I only used 1 of the 10 offered. There is a TV in every room but I was so fascinated with the outdoors, I did not even turn one on. AT&T cell service was 4 bars all week and internet worked great.

Things to Note:

The a/c is pre-programmed to stay at 74 degrees Fahrenheit or above which can make sleeping uncomfortable for some. I might suggest bringing some fans, they also help with keeping mosquitos away on the porch. Bring your bug spray or fan, this is Florida. The sign marking the house is parallel with the street so easy to miss.

Beautiful & Relaxing!

  • 3 of 5

The whole family came together for our trip. We enjoyed the house, lake, and beautiful area. We used the boat ramp at the house to launch & kept the boat docked the entire visit. We sat on the back porch each morning & evening drinking coffee/wine enjoying the view. House is clean, fully stocked, and gorgeous. We are already planning a return trip :)

Sunset in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Every evening watching the sun set with a cool drink in one hand and a camera in the other. Sitting on the lakeside porch looking across the crystal clear lake.

The house looks and feels like a house and not just a rental property, really nicely furnished and really comfortable. Dinner on the open deck next to the boat house watching the Sandhill Cranes, walking and flying the fish jumping is what we miss most about our stay.

We golfed many times at Palatka golf club a Donald Ross course at extremely reasonable prices. Also the 2 courses at the World Golf Hall of Fame, not as reasonable but worth the price. fine dining requires a ride to St Augustine which has a lot of everything to offer. Beaches are about 40 minutes away. Did all Orlando has to offer with the grand kids and took the 3 teenage boys for the tour at Daytona Speedway. Rented a 34 foot pontoon boat and 9 of us toured the St John river and many of it's outlets.

Back to the house. cell phone reception is 5 bars for at&t and Verizon, You can see the tower across the lake. Wi Fi is excellent. Washer and dryer iron ironing board etc all excellent. In front of the TV in the living room is a big leather recliner that will put you to sleep guaranteed.

The owner is without any question the most honest person I've ever delt with for vacation rentals. God willing we'll be back next year.

Wonderful way to relax

  • 5 of 5

It felt like I was going back in time. This is one of the most interesting places I have taken my family for a restful vacation. The rooms were decorated with great taste and nothing was lacking. I was able to cook on the grill too.

I couldn’t wait to go fishing from the dock. We brought kayaks and put them in the lake from the concrete boat slip.

My granddaughter was thrilled with the privacy our own personal space on the river. Her mom did not have to worry about the boys gawking at the sun bathers. HAHA. Nothing to do but have fun….

Just an awesome vacation.
