|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
The studio apartment is located on the Giudecca island which is a heavenly retreat with a special atmosphere all its own. Inhabited almost entirely by locals and situated apart from the hordes of tourists (with very few hotels except for the legendary Cipriani and the new Molina Stucky Hilton), the Giudecca is Venice's best-kept secret. The Giudecca offers the best views in Venice: from the northern waterfront, where you can dine on delicious food at the Do Mori, Harry's Dolce or Cip's, you can see over to the Dorsoduro, the island of San Giorgio, and of course San Marco and the Doge's Palace; from the sunny southern side, there are panoramic views across the canal.
Located just off the Fondameta on the ground floor, this one bedroom/one bath studio apartment was just totally renovated and comes fully furnished and includes air conditioning and wireless internet. It is sparkling clean and everything works. It offers a modern living/dining area, spacious kitchen with refrigerator, range with gas cooking and dishwasher. Washer and dryer are also included. The color TV with satellite dish provides you with a large selection of channels to choose from along with an iron and ironing board and even a blow dryer for your convenience.
Minimum of 3 Nights. Longer terms welcome.
We had a magnificent time in Venice and were so glad we chose to stay on the Giudecca – It was fantastic to leave the busy streets behind at the end of the day and return to a more tranquil “real” neighborhood.
The apartment was great and suited us well. All in all we enjoyed ourselves immensely and just wish we had more time……
All the best, and thanks again,
great location away from the crowds, very accessible to everything. great restaurants nearby. particularly appreciated property manager waiting for us when our plane came in late. it was seriously not difficult to get to from the airport or to get to the train station from where we left too. great views, and very safe. bed could use upgrading but acceptable for 3 nights. condo was clean and has been remodelled in last few years...all in all a very positive experience. september 2014.
Studio apartment in GREAT location -- kitchen area, small table, folding chairs, sofas, coffee and nested tables, tables, king bed, large closets, many drawers, real hangers, ironing board, iron, and clothes racks. New bathroom with bidet, tub with shower, shelf space around sink, toilet, vanity mirror, toiletries, nice towels. Kitchen has excellent dishwasher, large refrigerator and freezer, three burner cooktop, combination washer/dryer with instructions, lockable cabinet for a safe, and TV. Wifi works with inexplicably variable signal. Good layout for two people, with bed in open space off living room. The apartment is set back from the waterfront making it quiet but a bit dark and opening windows means losing privacy. We confess we had some difficulties here which we have not had in numerous other VRBO rentals. The infrastructure of the apartment is fine; we had functional problems. We expect to cook in the kitchen, keep clothes clean, and sleep quietly in our rentals and try to select places accordingly. We had problems on all these fronts; all can be readily corrected with some attention and minor expense. We reported the details in a letter to the owner, who was very responsive and expressed thanks for our list of "defects" to guide repair and improvements. Future potential renters should confirm that corrections have been made. Despite excellent major appliances, the kitchen lacked very many useful tools and utensils (no can opener, tea kettle, no cookware to use in the microwave/convection oven, single frying pan without a cover, no serving dishes, etc.). Cooking was more than a challenge. The stove hood's fan and light did not work. Guests who eat out wouldn't mind these defects, but any who want to take advantage of the excellent local ingredients a short walk away to prepare meals will be frustrated. Posting some basic instructions for the microwave/oven would help. The dryer for the washer/dryer did not work; clothes on the rack only dried after two full days by using the iron. We fixed the shower water dripping onto the floor by putting a hand towel on the tub's corner. Finally, we had two successive nights of sleep disrupted at 2:00 am by a loud bleeping alarm behind a locked door which went on beyond 7:30 when we left for the day! We love Venice and would stay here again if we knew that these very inconvenient issues about the kitchen, dryer, and alarm had been addressed and that the website accurately describes the apartment.
I spent two weeks at the apartment while studying Italian at the Istituto Venezia. The apartment was in a fantastic location – about 5 steps from the edge of the Giudecca canal and very close to the Palanca Vaporetto stop. Once on the vaporetto, it’s only about 5 minutes to Piazza San Marco and all the tourist areas. But the apartment and Giudecca Island are a wonderful quiet retreat during the evening, away from the main tourist sites, but still close to cafes and restaurants, shops (the big Co-op store is only 5 mins walk away and fish and bakery shops even closer, on the waters’ edge). The apartment itself was very clean and had every convenience including TV and wireless internet, a dishwasher and washing machine and smaller items like a classic stove top espresso coffee maker and every pan and frying pan and crockery you might need to make simple meals. The air conditioning worked very well, but was somewhat noisy. I found keeping the bathroom door closed during the night helped to keep the noise at bay. The bathroom was well equipped and the owner provides a useful booklet about the apartment and the general area. The bed was very comfortable (for an Italian bed!) but I would say it is a regular UK double size, and not a Queen size. Noel, the housekeeper, was very helpful, gave me his contact number and checked on me a few times during my stay, but I actually didn’t have any major problems. On the negative side, there were only small things. The apartment is in need of a little TLC – some of the paint is peeling a little, especially by the floor and the apartment smells a little damp. This is perhaps to be expected from an apartment in Venice so near the water, however. There was an outbreak of tiny black flies in the apartment while I was there, but I didn’t bother with them, and in fact there was a plug-in insecticide device available, if it had become necessary. The dryer part of the washing machine wasn’t working while I was there, but an airer was provided to hang clothes out to dry. I did need to leave them to hang for 2 + days to dry the thicker items like jeans, though. Being down a calle, behind the main building, the apartment is a little dark. There is little natural light, except some in the mid morning. This would probably not be a problem for those people spending all day out sightseeing. All in all, I would definitely consider returning to this apartment when I am next visiting Venice. It was perfect for me.
I was so impressed with the location of this property, just a five minute vaporetto ride from Venice, and we got the true local experience staying out of the main island. One of the restaraunts that is a two minute walk is one of the highest rated spots we found and is always teeming with locals. The flat was clean, close, and modern. The bathroom is very nice complete with complimentary soaps and lotions, which was very appreciated. Larry gave fantastic recommendations for food and was responsive to all questions at booking. We would stay here again if we ever get to come back!
A friend and I stayed at this apartment and it was perfect. Everything was clean and the place looked very modern. Larry gave very detailed instructions for getting to the place and provided a lot of great places to eat at that were all delicious. When we arrived, the housekeeper was already there and gave us a lot of great information. He even walked us to a restaurant so we could grab dinner.
The location is great. A very short water bus ride to St Mark's, which is where we went most of the time. The view from outside the apartment building is beautiful. I would definitely recommend this to anyone vacationing in Venice.
My husband and I spent 5 wonderful nights in this beautiful, modern, clean apartment. The description listed was very accurate, the owner was very helpful and responsive to our questions before our arrival. The apartment is a short walk from the vaporatto stop. Because it is situated on the Island of Giudecca, it was convenient for us to spend as much time as we wanted in Venice, but then, we had the option of having the quiet of Guidecca. We also had wonderful restaurants, shops, bakery and transportation right outside our door. I certainly would recommend this apartment to a relative or friend.
You can easily reach the boat (vaporetto) stop 'Palanca' by taking the 41/42 or the 2 and the stop is only a 3 minute walk from the apartment. The vaporetti go to the train station, to the Lido, San Marco Square (within 10 minutes, Murano and across the canal in 3 minutes to the 'Zattere' where the Guggenheim Museum and the Academia Bridge is located. It is also home to the Church of the Redentore, built in honor of Christ the Redeemer by Palladio in the late 16th century.
