Overview

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday townhome in San Francisco - Lone Mountain Flat

2 bedrooms (1 King, 1 Queen) , 1 bath, sleeps 6 (incl. 2 on living room sofabed)

This beautiful two bedroom flat is the perfect place to use as homebase for your San Francisco getaway. Mid-century and Danish modern furniture complements this 1940 flat. The living room features a fireplace, sectional sofa (which doubles as a sofa bed), 46 inch HDTV flatscreen TV, Roku media player & BluRay player, sitting area, and enormous view window looking out on the Sutro tower atop Twin Peaks. The dining room is the perfect place to sit down and recount the day's adventures over a meal prepared in the newly remodeled gourmet kitchen, cooked on the backyard grill, or delivered from any of the fine restaurants nearby. The ample bedrooms are each furnished with 32 inch flat screen HDTV televisions, Roku media players, as well as iPod docking clock radios. The house also features a rotating selection of local art & San Francisco themed displays.

The Home: Your home away from home in one of the most beautiful cities in the world includes a formal living room and formal dining room with seating for 6, newly-remodeled kitchen, two big light-filled bedrooms (1 King, 1 Queen), and 1 bathroom with a tub and separate shower stall. The approx. 1375 sq. ft. architectural gem is in a two unit 1940’s style building, and features hardwood flooring, original art deco design details, and vintage furnishings. The bedrooms are located in the rear of the flat, overlooking the garden with a view of one of San Francisco’s oddball treasures, the Columbarium. The living room sofa also converts to a queen-size sleeper, if you are in need of extra space. There are public tennis courts and a swimming pool at the park across the street. If this property is booked have a look at https://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p4086232.

Golden Gate Park: The flat has a spectacular location: a 3 block walk leads to Golden Gate Park, including such sights as: the Conservatory of Flowers, Academy of Sciences, M.H. de Young Museum, Japanese Tea Garden, and the Arboretum (Botanical Garden); as well as such activities as: a children-only playground, archery, biking and skating, golf, horseback riding, lawn bowling, tennis, fly-fishing, and plenty of spots for a wonderful picnic. The park is larger than New York's Central Park, and is covered with more than one million trees and contains its own herd of bison.

Transportation: No car is needed with this centrally located flat (it has a WalkScore of 94!). If you tire of walking, taxicabs are plentiful, and San Francisco’s public transportation system is easy and intuitive. Having a bus stop one block away from the flat makes travel to Ocean Beach, shopping downtown at boutiques or the mall, the Embarcadero, Fisherman's Wharf, etc. a snap. If you're coming for business or a convention, Express Bus service to Downtown operates morning & evening from one block away!

Finally, if you do bring a car there is abundant street parking, including some sections where you may leave a car parked for a full week without a permit. If you will be staying for an extended period, a temporary permit can be obtained – just ask!

Local Feel in Great Location

  • 4 of 5

Our arrival was met without any hassle - the instructions Chris leaves to enter the gate and apartment are spot-on and dummy proof. We stayed in the apartment for four nights during a week-long vacation. We had a car for two nights while staying there and had no issues with parking. The rest of the time we Ubered about town, and rode the Muni a handful of times. The location is wonderful - it rarely took us longer than 15 minutes to get anywhere in the city. Two of the mornings we took a short walk down the street to a corner cafe, Earth's Coffee, which was a great find and a filling breakfast. The apartment itself is pretty spacious - each of the rooms had enough space for us to keep our clothes organized and were able to pack away our luggage in the closet. My one critique would be the bathroom - it's a bit old-fashioned in that the space in the shower is tiny. I couldn't move about without hitting a wall. That being said there is also a tub, so if you prefer baths you can go that route. We had some concerns when we arrived to find that the TVs weren't working properly, only to learn that there was no satellite cable, just antenna. However, we made due with local channels and were able to sign into our HBO account using the smartTV feature. Chris was a great host. Any time we had a concern or question he was very responsive to our messages. I would definitely recommend this place to travelers, and would stay here again during a future visit to San Francisco.

Nice place in great neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

The flat was clean, nicely furnished and in a quiet neighborhood with nearby shopping, parks, and bus stops. If I went back to SF I would consider staying here again...

Comfortable home for a week

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for seven nights during a business/pleasure vacation to San Francisco. It was a very comfortable place for our family of three. We enjoyed the views from the large windows (even if it was mostly rain) and being able to spread out like we were at home. We cooked most of our meals in the kitchen, which had all the basic equipment and was a pleasure to cook in. The front of the house (living room, dining room) had a fair amount of street noise, but the bedrooms in the back were quiet. The large bedrooms were comfortable. Chris was very responsive to our needs and even purchased a small step stool for our daughter to use so that we didn't have to travel with ours.

We exclusively used public transportation while we were there. The 31 and 33 got us to Golden Gate Park in 15-20 minutes, the 38 took us west to the beach in 20 minutes and east to downtown in 25 minutes. Using a few transfers off of the 38, we also easily got to Pier 39, the Ferry Building and the Exploratorium. We used Rossi Park across the street a few times.

Great Location Near USF

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying in this apartment. Location was great for our visit to USF. Listing was accurate and I was surprised with how big the apartment is. Parking is a hassle, so if you bring a car be aware of that. The owner leaves plenty of snacks which is a nice touch, especially if you've been traveling all day.

I did not have any contact with the landlord - there was no need. Everything I needed was clearly explained prior to arrival.

Great Flat in a Great Location

  • 4 of 5

My daughter and her family and I easily fit into the flat...roomy with a good floor plan with quiet bedrooms. The flat was clean, well equipped and nicely furnished with nice mid-century modern (with a few Ikea touches.) Snacks were provided and appreciated. We had a great time and in spite of the rain, we easily walked to Clement Street and enjoyed the shopping and dining there. The street parking was a little tricky but manageable. The only suggestion would be to leave instructions for turning on the TV (which we needed for about 15 minutes to keep the younger child entertained.) Couldn't figure it out with the 4 remotes. But that was unimportant and overall, a great place and great experience. We were out most of the day doing all the SF sights and enjoyed coming back to our cosy and convenient urban retreat. The park across the street and the neighborhood is quiet and safe....and nice to look at too. We would stay here again.

Comfortable, clean and quiet

  • 5 of 5

We came for business and the apartment perfectly fitted our needs as it was a good place to come back to in the evening and rest. The apartment is well equipped, particular the kitchen which we did not use. Instead, we eat out, either at one of the basic restaurants in the neighborhood or downtown, which is only about 15 minutes away by taxi.
