Literally 1 minute from Metro A Colli Albani stop and a few minutes to the historic centre, this sunny, stylish and spacious apartment (6th floor with elevator; 603 sq ft - 56 mq), is owned by a Scottish-Italian family, who take pride in making it a warm home from home for guests. Located in the 'Appio Latino' district, along the Via Appia Nuova (one of the best shopping areas in Rome), it is served by the A-line metro that connects in 15 minutes to all the main attractions such as the Colosseum, Spanish Steps, St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican Museum and the entire historic center. We're also close to the Old Appian Way archaeological site with its ruins and catacombs. With the subway station just outside the front door, travelling around Rome is incredibly easy. You'll be living in a typical Roman area and will be able to mix with the locals. You certainly won't regret it. The apartment features: spacious bedroom (double glazed window doors that open onto a balcony) with king size bed, fold-up bed suitable for a child, dressing table, wardrobe; large living room with 2 couches (one of which a opens out to a comfortable queen size sofa bed), dining table, LCD flat screen TV; fully equipped kitchen; bathroom with shower; hall with extra wardrobe; balcony where you can sit at the end of the day with a glass of wine watching the world go by. A/C. Free WI-FI. Supermarkets, cafés, great variety of shops, restaurants, pizzerias, ATM's, etc. nearby. Nature lovers might want to visit the 'Valle della Caffarella' park and Villa Lazzaroni (with a children's playground) for a break from city life. We speak English, French and Italian and a little German and Spanish.

On request we can organize airport transfer starting from 45 euros.

How to reach us: FROM FIUMICINO AIRPORT.

Either take the Leonardo Express train to Termini station (tickets cost 14 euros, trains leave every 30 min.) and then the A-line subway (Direzione Anagnina) and get off at Colli Albani or take the FL1 train and get off at the Stazione Tuscolana (tickets cost 11 euros; children under 12 don’t pay; trains leave every 15 min. except in July-Aug: every 30 min.). Outside the Tuscolana station, turn left and walk down to the traffic lights, then up Via Gela to the Pontelungo subway station (not even a five minutes walk). Take the subway (Direzione Anagnina) to the Colli Albani station. The flat is right there.

FROM CIAMPINO AIRPORT.

Take the Co.tral bus to the Anagnina (tickets cost 1,20 euro). At the Anagnina take the subway to the Colli Albani station.

About Irene

Hi, I'm Irene. I inherited this flat from my parents and am very attached to it. I was born and brought up in Scotland and 'brought over' to Italy when my parents retired, but I've been living here a lifetime and now consider Italy as home, although I often think fondly of my childhood in Scotland. It was my sons’ idea that I rent this flat out to tourists. I decided to give it a try and have been happily welcoming people from all over the world since August 2006. I would love to welcome you too.

We speak English, French and Italian and a little German and Spanish.

What makes this apartment unique

The flat has a homely atmosphere and is close to everything: supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants, 'pizzerias and gelaterias', boutiques, banks, internet cafés, car hire, open air fruit and vegetable market, etc. The location is fantastic. From the balcony you have a beautiful view of the hills to the south of Rome and the Via Appia Nuova. The underground stop is right at the doorstep, and bus stops too, which means there's no walking to do when you come back at night with weary feet. You will be living in a typically Roman area and be able to mix with the locals. If you get tired of city life and want a breath of fresh air, go and visit the Caffarella Park. It's just short walk away and is the most significant remaining example of ancient countryside in the city. You'll see many monuments from different ages, besides sheep grazing here and there and a good few vegetable gardens.

I can not say enough good things about this place! What made us choose this apartment was the great reviews of the owner, and they were right! Where to start- she's super nice and helpful, had a little treat and some basic supplies waiting for us, and this incredible binder of info she's accumulated- maps, schedules, the works! Not to mention the metro and bus stops are literally outside the front door. The grocery is across the street- next to the tasty bakery. Restaurants all around, and if you need one- McDonald's is a few doors down! We traveled with our 3 & 6 year old daughters and the apartment was just perfect! Well laid out, washing machine and line to dry things on, nice kitchen. So happy! I highly recommend this place to anyone! She even helped us arrange taxi service to and from the apartment!

Home away from Home

Stayed here for ten days and only made our trip more memorable. Clean, comfortable and lovingly appointed apt. with all the amenities and then some. Away from the "tourist circus" yet close to everything without the inconvenience of driving in Rome traffic. Excellent location for the Metro, buses, cabs, local stores and banks. And then there is Irene, "the Hostess with the Mostess', as we say in NY. Attentive, helpful and sure to make your stay memorable. From providing, airport transportation, a well stocked kitchen, to pastries upon our arrival. All that and a Scottish accent to boot. Thank you Irene for sharing your apartment, expertise and your sense of humor with us. We look forward to returning.

Lovely Rome apartment, lovely host

The apartment was 30 meters from the Colli Albani metro so it was well located for our tired feet!! It was a good size, a large double bedroom, and then an easy to fold away sofa in the large lounge room. This was apart from the nice little kitchen and good bathroom. We didn't use the washing machine on the verandah. So, the unit spaciously contained all that my wife, daughter and I could need. Irene was very accommodating, gave us a nice intro to the unit, and if not for the attractions of Rome we would have enjoyed the local area more following Irene's description. This is a unit we would happily stay in again.

Amazing!

The description is perfectly accurate. Everything was perfect, from our arrival with someone meeting us at the airport through Irene, to her explanation of everything to do and what is around the apartment . The location of the appart is sooo convenient, right down for buses, metro and taxi. The appartment is clean, well maintained and very good size for a European home. We could not use the balcony because the weather was not warm enough but it is a bonus if the weather is allowing it. Restaurants and grocery within minutes. Overall excellent! Irene is very helpful and accomodating. Would definetly go back and we do recommend it for a trip in Rome.

The apartment was clean, nicely decorated, well equiped and in a very convenient location.

We stayed a number of weeks in this apartment and found it very convenient for visiting the major attractions, other parts of Rome and some near by towns, especially in the Albani Hills. There are metro, bus and taxi stations right outside the apartment. There are plenty of local shops, supermarkets, restaurants etc close by. English was spoken, at least to some extent, in nearly all of these places.

The apartment is on the sixth floor, with a lift, so is a bit above the local traffic noise, although not totally quiet, unless you shut the windows. Irene, the owner, has the apartment nicely furnished and decorated, it is very clean and well equipped.

Irene was extremely helpful while planning our stay and while we were there, even organised transport from the airport.

We would certainly recommend this apartment and would stay there again.

Very sweet resting place

The apartment couldn't be more convenient IF you want out of the rat race Rome and prefer the suburbs. The metro is literally almost at the door step and takes less than 30 minutes to get to the Vatican. It is also walking distance to the Appian Way and several catacombs and a beautiful huge park.

The hostess makes lots of effort to cover small comforts like having guidebooks, references notebook, maps all available. Plus I LOVE that she had sugar and coffee/filters and salt. Don't know how many pounds of sugar we have abandoned over the years just to have a couple of teaspoons for coffee. The welcome she gave us was felt very warm and sincere and made us happy.

So convenient! So lovely! Perfecto!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week. The apartment was in a perfect location. We were in walking distance of shops and very close to the metro. (We did not want to drive in Roma!) Irene was fabulous and very helpful in so many ways. The BEST gelato we had in southern Italy was at the little shop just two doors down. We hope to be able to return here again and would be happy to stay in the same apartment.

One of the main assets of the property is that it is right at an A-line Metro stop (Colli Albani). The A-line Metro was built to connect all the main tourist attractions, from the Old Appian Way to the Vatican so our apartment combines the advantages of a convenient price with easy access to the historical center. All the major sights can be reached in a few minutes. Buses also widely available. Supermarket opposite and a great mix of shops, banks, internet cafes, restaurants, pubs, pizzerias all in close proximity. The adjacent Via Appia Nuova is one of Rome's best shopping areas. Guarded garage nearby, on street parking for those of you who plan to hire a car.

Our rates are all-inclusive, covering utilities, bed and bath linen, final cleaning and free unlimited WI-FI. No extra charges except for electricity, which in summer months is metered and charged €0.40 per kWh for air conditioning. Rates depend on the season, number of guests and length of stay, so ask us for a quote.
€150 damage deposit to be paid on arrival, refundable on departure provided everything is in order.
Check in is preferably from 3 to 7 pm and check out from 8 to 10 am, but we try our best to be flexible. If we don't have guests leaving our apartment on the day you arrive you are welcome to check in early. There is, however, a €30 fee for check-in after 9 p.m. and the latest check in time is 10 p.m.
Transfer to and from airport can be arranged.

We have been renting out to tourists for over nine years and would love to welcome you too. We can accommodate up to 4 guests: 2 in the bedroom and 2 in the living room where we have a comfortable queen-size sofa bed. Our apartment, with double glazing and security door, has a homely atmosphere. Amenities include: A/C, central heating, free, unlimited WI-FI internet, LCD SAT TV (only news channels like CNN and BBC in English), DVD player and library, CD player, hairdryer, iron/ironing board, washing machine, gas cooker with oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, American and Italian coffee machines, toaster, ample cooking utensils, bed linen, blankets and towels. Our private balcony has a beautiful view of the hills to the south of Rome. Nearest subway stop (1 min. walk) : 'Colli Albani'. Buses and taxi stand in front of apartment. Very well linked with Ciampino and Fiumicino airports. On request: airport transfer, cell phone and baby cot. Smoking only allowed on the balcony.
