About Olivia Chapman

I am a grateful mother of 3 devoted children; two in college, one just beyond and gainfully employed. A longtime resident of Vermont, originally from SF bay area, I enjoy a full range of all-season outdoor activities, music, foreign film, museums and travel. That said, I'm working towards the latter as I'm committed to seeing my remaining children through school, thus tethered to my work. Personal interests that give me pleasure include reading, watercolor painting and spending time in France, when I can, where I have family.

Why Olivia Chapman chose Nice

This vintage 1920s apartment has been in my family for sixty years. We use this enchanting apartment when we can, and share it with long-term annual, off-season guests as well as summer travelers.

What makes this apartment unique

Outstanding views, location, and quiet.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We really enjoyed our stay @ the apartment in Nice. The view is spectacular -- the sunset, the boats, the helicopter shuttles to Monaco, the fireworks from Cannes. The location was great for exploring Nice and very easy access by bus to Monaco. With the extreme hot weather, we mostly visited the beaches! We went "canyoning" with http://www.altitude06.com/ For an extra fee, the tour co offered a shuttle to/from the canyon which was well worth it to avoid having to rent a vehicle and drive through the area! The extra space in the apartment was perfect timing as we had caught a bug and needed some time to rest, relax and recover."

Wonderful apartment in a superb location with stunning views. Very attentive and efficient owner and local manager. Local manager, Lauretta, is exceptional. Couldn't recommend the apartment highly enough.

Perfect !

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Olivia for sharing your beautiful apartment. Everything was perfect, very clean and the views outstanding. We loved coming home after a day of exploring the city sights to relax and gaze out to the sea. The location was perfect for us, close to groceries, restaurants and the bus right around the corner. Lauretta was amazing and made check-in a breeze. We couldn't have chosen a better place for our time in Nice.

Peaceful, comfortable, well located with a fantastic seaview

  • 4 of 5

We were second time in Olivia´s cozy apartment (22.4.-4.5. 17) and had wonderful first week. But then came a problem with GRDF (French gas distribution): there were no hot water available. With Olivia´s financial support and Lauretta´s help we moved for the second week to a seaside hotel nearby, into the room with the seaview. So we could continue our holiday as planned. As an compensation Olivia even offered a free week for our next visit in Palais Bel Mare.

Third Visit and Returning

  • 5 of 5

December 2016 and January 2017 found us for the third time in this wonderful apartment Palais Bel Mare. Walking in felt like coming home. This is one of the special aspects of this place that is hard to define but it does feel like home. It’s just so warm and charming. The newly refinished floors were an added bonus..

We were so happy to see Lauretta and to know that she is doing such a good job managing the property. She graciously greeted us and helped us to bring our cases and food supplies into the apartment. She’s a great asset to this wonderful place.

What is so extra special for us given how much we love the apartment and location is the joy of

working with and coming to know Olivia. She is such a lovely person and her spirit is so much a part of the place. Thank you, Olivia, for making it so special and available for rent. The many glowing and justified reviews reflect the love many have for it.

We have reserved eight weeks again and look forward to our return.

Clean, comfortable, well located with a fantastic view from Nice to Antibes

  • 4 of 5

We were delighted to find that the location of Olivia's apartment enabled us to enjoy a month in Nice without having to rent a car. We relied on the busses which run frequently along the coastal road, the regional train (a 20-minute walk to the station) and our sturdy walking shoes to see and do everything we planned when we rented here. The bonus to the location is that the LR and bedroom windows afford a fantastic view of the coast from the Port of Nice to Antibes. In addition, Olivia is a considerate and flexible owner.

Tres bon!

Bel Mare

I like to visit France for the month of September and have stayed in a number of different locations and properties in Nice over the years. Olivia's apartment , in a secure, quiet building with magnificent views towards Antibes and Cannes is the best to date.

My son, a keen cyclist visited for a few weeks and found it a great location from which to head off towards Menton and some serious riding without having to plough through the city traffic.

The apartment is well equipped and has character. While there is only one bedroom the sofa bed is very large and comfortable. After cooking a meal with fresh produce from the market there is nothing better than a leisurely meal on the balcony.

Buses 81 and 30 can be caught just a few minutes from the building. Bus 81 is always packed with tourists, so after a few sardine like experiences I opted for the 30 for the city run. Both connect readily with the tram on Garibaldi.

Hint - buy a 10 Trip ticket at the bus stop vending machines ( you save 5 Euros).

However, especially early in the morning it's easy, healthy and enjoyable to walk downhill to the city or around the Port to Promenade des Anglais or the morning markets on Cours Saleya near the old town.

In my last week I discovered the little Bus 38 which took me along the Port and up Bv Stalingrad . I could alight at the supermarket & greengrocer, and then climb up the steps and take leisurely walk to the apartment through the back of Parc Louisa, or continue on the bus to Parc Vigier. The bus is only used by locals who were very friendly.

There are many great restaurants around the Port for seafood, or on Bd Stalingrad if you're tired after a day out and don't want to go back into the city. We enjoyed the Franco Peruvian especially.

Then amble along the sea to Coco Beach before you turn back and walk up through Parc Louisa.

Le Plongior is a restaurant worth going to for the experience. Excellent, well priced food and great atmosphere for a special occasion.

I found both the owner Olivia and local housekeeper Lauretta very responsive to queries and requests.

Our apartment is located just below beautiful Mont Boron, known as the “Hollywood” of Nice. The Club Nautique's public beach next to the old Plongee Aigle Nautique (diving platform), and now home to La Plongeior restaurant, is an intimate, uncrowded bathing spot, within a short walking distance. In the opposite direction, just beyond 'La Réserve de Nice' restaurant, lovely public cliff beaches can be found.

Shop on foot for kitchen staples at a neighboring supermarché or select your petit déjeuner of croissant and baguette from several local boulangeries. A brief stroll to the Port offers lots of dining choices. Or just wander by the harbor’s edge and enjoy the exotic yachts and colorful classic Niçoise fishing boats.

Place Girabaldi, 'Vieille Ville' (old town), Place Masséna, Nice’s Cours Selaya Flower Market, and Colline du Chateau (Castle Hill), as well as the Promenade des Anglais, to name a few popular spots, are also all within walking distance, some shorter, some longer. Local public transport is both an easily accessible and affordable option.
