Do you want warm, sunny weather? The weather now is delightful for outdoor activities almost every day of the year. Enjoy this 1400 SF home on over 1/2 acre with lots of privacy! Furnished home with new Sealy Queen Size Mattress and new bedroom furniture and Ashley living room furniture in Master. Other bedroom has a high quality Queen matress too. Kitchen has cookware, dishes, coffee maker and blender/food processor. Home has 2 bedrooms and 1 office and outside patio with bird feeder and bird bath. There are 2 full bathrooms and ceilings are cathedral. There are 2 HD TV's--one in living room and one in the office and hooked up to satelite TV. Beginning in May 2012, there is on demand Netflix shows and movies.

There is a dishwasher, range, microwave/grill, refrigerator, garage door opener, washer and dryer. The yard is fenced. It is a non-smoking unit and it someone wants to bring their dog, it must be over 2 years old and fixed.

There is the Tumacacori National Park and Historic Presideo State Park nearby. Birds and wildlife are abundant. In March, April and May, the weather is delightful for golfing & hiking! In March, there is an annual bicycle event on the rural street where the house is located. The mountain views are outstanding and Madera Canyon is less that 1/2 hour away. There is excellent dining in the area and the famous arts and crafts of Tubac. Fitness gym, beauty salon and nail salons are close by and they are wonderful! This is a great art haven with lots of artists!

If you want two-fifty Margaritas you can go to Arivaca and go to a restaurant with Bull Horns in front and the food is wonderful. Fine dining can be found in the Espendor Resort (Rio Rico Golf Resort) or the Tubac Golf Resort. Tubac Golf Resort has two fine restaurants in a western setting. Wisdoms offers a fine meal just south of Tubac and it is very fun. The bartender makes a wonderful margarita! The Tubac Inn offers wonderful pork dishes and there is almost always action there. Cowboys sometimes come on horses and stop to wet their thirst. There are 10 golf courses nearby! Locally and Sycamore and Madera Canyons offer great birds and wildlife as well as the Santa Cruz river and right outside your windows. Come and enjoy....

The vineyards are some of the best in the US and similar to southern France. Arizona Vineyards is a popular roadside attraction in Nogales on the way to Mexico. Located less than one hour from the resort, the wines are unique and have classic Southwestern names such as Rattlesnake Red, Desert Dust and Coyote Red. (520) 287-7972.

Another way to go through Nogales is to Exit 4 on I-19 and turn east onto Magnolia and make a right hand turn at Grant (Fast Gas Station) and go 1 mile to Highway AZ-82.

Callaghan Vineyards

About an hour south of Tucson, the Callaghan Vineyards have been producing award-winning wines for over fifteen years. Owner Kent Callaghan aptly named his 17-acre vineyard “Buena Suerte” (or “Good Luck” in Spanish) and has won many kudos for his fine wines, including the highly-praised 1996 Fumé Blanc. The winery is open Friday thru Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (520) 455-5322.

Sonoita Vineyards

Another winery near Mr. Callaghan’s establishment is the Sonoita Vineyards. Co-owner Dr. Gordon Dutt was a soil scientist at the University of Arizona when he and A. Blake Brophy established their first experimental vineyard in 1973. They found that the high altitude (5,000 feet) soil is nearly identical to the soils of Burgundy, France. The 20-acre vineyard now produces over 10,000 gallons per year. Their 1986 Cabernet Sauvignon had the distinction of being served at the White House. The winery is open 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., seven days a week. (520) 455-5893.

Keywords: Golf, Birdwatching, Cycling, Hiking, 2 bedroom, fenced yard, dog welcome, HBO & Showtime. If you are a Silver Sneaker's member, there are 3 different nearby locations that you can visit. The Anza Trail can be traveled nearby and this is an old Spanish trail north.

The wild life is delightful. There were over 95 birds identified by birders who came in April 2014. There is a complete list in my traveler's book.

Maryann Kinzel (Visa and MC accepted) purchased this house in 2006

Why Maryann Kinzel (Visa and MC accepted) chose Arizona

I built this home originally for myself, but since it only has only a 2 car garage, I decided on building another one that has a 3 car garage. I live in this same area as I enjoy star gazing and bird watching and walking in the wilderness. It is close to Madera Canyon where there are pine trees. The evenings always have a nice, gentle breeze and you can look forward to sunny, pristine skies that are some common in Arizona. I love the birdwatching from almost every window in the house.

What makes this house unique

If you like to see the stars that are visible from the dark, clear skies of this area, this is the area for you. There are also a lot of wild life in the area and there is the faint sound of an occasional train in the valley below. The Tumaccari Mountains and Elephant Rock can been seen from this location and the sunsets and sunrises are superior.

Tubac has a unique feel to it with rich culture of Spain, Mexico and Arizona and it has many fun and historical places. There is a festival of the lights Dec 4-6th and an art walk on that Friday. There is a new HD 32 inch Sony TV with Dish Satellite Service. There is another HD TV in the office!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Maryann... I finally had time to assemble a list of birds (attached) we saw one or more times in the yard or overhead during our stay in April. It's been hectic catching up after a month away but we look back regularly to the AZ weather. Especially on those chilly and rainy days that sometimes make spring a long time coming here. It's warming up more now as Memorial Day approaches. We sure enjoyed our stay...Dave

Lots of sunshine, birds and relaxation!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our two week stay at Maryann's property in Tumacacori. The house was clean, had a well-equipped kitchen, and comfortable furniture including the beds. Maryann was very conscientious about getting the internet working and with the extender we had very fast service. If you put out some bird seed and a hummingbird feeder in the backyard, you will be reward with a variety of birds. We would recommend this property to anyone who enjoys the high desert.

Quiet & clean.

Mary Ann's house was nice for 2 couples. It is remote but once we arrived it was very relaxing. We couldn't get the internet to work.

The location of this house is its main advantage and its main disadvantage.

It's so far away from everything that you get a excellent unobstructed view of the surrounding mountains ; the small patio overlooks the sun as it sinks at night over the mountains ... very nice.

On the other hand, you have to travel about 30 minutes to find groceries, gas, or even a cup of coffee, so that's the flip side.

The house itself is quite comfortable and very clean ; but nothing lux about it , so don't overpay.

The owner has provided all the basics except there is no barbeque , just a tiny charcoal grill - I would call it a hibachi.

It is unlikely anyone would use it.

The master bath is unusual.

Cable TV is provided including Hi Def ; not a big screen TV but certainly adequate. Golfers cannot watch their favorite channel.

Except for the following point, I would recommend this property for those who don't require any extras.

We were told multiple times by the owner that the house had WiFi ; this turned out to be untrue.

There was no Internet or Wifi available during our stay.

My brother had counted on that feature to do some work away from his office ; as had the writer.

The owner let us down on this point.

Overall a would give a rating of 2 out of 5 ... had WiFi been included, 3.

Arizona Desert Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

We were more than surprised at ths accomadations in this well equipped home. There is a mountain view out of any window! This was a very comfortable home for 2 couples. Mary Ann was more than accomadating and offered great suggestions for food and day trips. There were some minor glitches with the internet (no modem in the house) but not a big problem. We enjoyed watching all the birds in the yard. We would definitely return to this place!

Wonderful hide-away

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from spending a month at this beautiful home. MaryAnn was more than accommodating. The location offers numerous venues to visit and beautiful opportunities for short trips to historic and scenic places. We were also incredibly pleased with the choices in restaurants and food quality. Don't miss Wisdom's Restaurant. We went there 3 times. Other than a few glitches in internet and Dish TV coverage we were comfortable in this very clean, well cared for, beautiful desert spot. We were also elated and chose this home due to the acceptance of pets. Don't overlook the opportunity to be in nature and served by a very quality host. Brad and Connie Holland, Wapiti, Wyoming

There are lots of things to do all year around. October is the perfect time to travel to the wineries, bird watch, golf and hike. For a detailed list of tghe events each month, go to eventful.com. The state and national parks are wonderful to visit to see the early history of the area when the Spanish first came. Jaun Baptista de Anza came here on October 1775 and is very famous. The Titan Missile Museum, Old Historic Towns and Villages and Bars of Rural Arizona. Has ten nearby golf courses. At the first Friday of the month, there are art walks in Tubac and most of the time there is live music in the square. The art in the studios and shops are wonderful and there are many items that you can get that are from Mexico. There is also a Duty Free Store just prior to entering Mexico and they have a wide selections of perfumes and liquors. There is wonderful bakeries in Tubac and Rio Rico, so plan on eating well and doing lots of outdoor activities to work it off. The birding is some of the best in the country.

If you are a Silver Sneakers member, there are 3 places that accept your membership, one with a year around swimming pool.

There are now two hospitals: St. Mary's in Nogales and Green Valley Hospital in Green Valley. Tubac Fire Department has IEMT's 24/7 and they are very good. I have been to both ED rooms and they both give good service, but I found Green Valley's ED to have newer equipment. There is also an urgent care off the left hand side of Duval Mine Road and they give good care also.
