Thanks Dominique. We had a wonderful time. The Dolphin House was perfect in every way: design,
landscaping, furnishings, supplies. Everything was laid out perfectly and was right where you would
expect it. And the location was amazing with beautiful views and an easy walk to town and lots of stores
and restaurants. We’d love to stay again when we return to Kona.
Our family...10 in total...three adult sons and their wives and two grandchildren....spent 10 incredibly wonderful, memorable nights at The Dolphin House !! Rarely do pictures and reviews live up to the actual property...but in this case everything presented was spot on ! The location, the ambiance, the quality of the house and all its furnishings was stellar. Opening up the huge glass doors gave us a front row seat to the world outside ! The waves, and the Dolphins and whales passing by...it was always a grand show . The owners thought of absolutely every cooking utensil and pool toys we wanted. It was as though we furnished it ourselves !!! We lived in the pool morning noon and night....and actually had to force ourselves leave and see the sights of Kona ! We swam with the Mantas....went fishing....rode horses ...etc.....but the best adventure of the entire time was simply being at the house....and enjoying its awesome spaces. Nicole and Greg responded to every question we had with patience ...never hesitating to make everything perfect for us. This home is for any group of friends or family that want their own accommodations....yet be under the same roof to share in the experience. Our Sons and their loves treated us to a Chef that prepared us a scrumptious mahi mahi dinner....what a treat to be waited on !! So in closing I simply want to thank Nicole and Greg for creating such a precious memory for us....from start to finish. Our entire family would come back in a nano second!! Mahalo
8 of us had a geat time at the Dolphin House this past Christmas. Beautiful location, great layout, very well equipped. Couldn't have been nicer!
We stayed at the Dolphin House in July to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. Our group of 9 included my parents, my brother and I and our spouses, and my three kids who are in their teens and 20s. We all loved this gorgeous home and ideal location. The home is just as described and shown in the photos, but pictures are nothing compared to actually being there. We had so much space to relax and enjoy the ocean-side location and private pool.
We ate dinner in every night on the lanai and the huge table had plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen had everything you could ever need in term of dishes, utensils, small appliances and gadgets. There was even a small supply of some pantry items, seasonings, etc.
While at the house you feel like you are at a secluded retreat, but the grocery store, Target, Walmart, gas station, tourist shopping are just a few minutes away. Nothing was inconvenient. We used the home as our base and took day trips to Volcano National Park and the Hilo side of the island. Hawaii Island has very different landscapes in different locations and elevations and I highly recommend taking some trips to other parts of the island.
Perhaps the best part of the Dolphin House was the wonderful customer service. A major traffic accident in Honolulu caused us to miss our flight between Honolulu and Kona. It was a pretty dramatic and stressful morning getting our group of nine re-booked on another flight. I called Nicole to tell her we would not be arriving as scheduled and she was so nice - told me to keep her posted and she would tell the driver who was planning to pick us up. Once we had our new arrival time I called her again and she took care of it. What a delight to arrive at the airport to find a driver waiting with a sign with our family name. He helped us get our luggage, offered us cold water and a refreshing towel once we got to the van, and took us right to the house where our two rental cars were waiting in the driveway. We had a problem with the clothes dryer not working properly and someone came within hours to look at it. When it still didn't work properly the owner replaced it while we were out sightseeing. I was very impressed with the level of service and attention to detail paid to us by the owner and his staff and caretakers. A five star operation in all regards.
Our stay at the Dolphin House was the experience of a lifetime for my parents and one my entire family will never forget.
We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary with our children and grandchildren at the Dolphin House in June. What a perfect place for a family reunion! We loved the location. It was close to Kona for souvenir shopping, grocery shopping and occasional meals. We also loved the wall of windows that opened up the living area to become open air. Most of our time was spent at the beautiful marble table on the lanai. We spent time there with coffee in the morning, lunch, happy hour and dinner! We walked to the sandy cove beach (which was perfect for the children) and walked the stone wall path to see the blowhole and the sunsets (although the sunsets are also seen from the patio.)
We did attend a Hawaiian Festival at the north end of the island and the 30-somethings went on the Night-time Manta Ray Dive.
We used the chauffeur from the airport, which was a wonderful way to be welcomed to Hawaii. We also had two Hertz cars delivered.
Thank you, Nicole, for all the assistance from where we could rent baby equipment to recommending a professional photographer for a family photo! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. We'd love to return soon!
My family and I spent six unforgettable days at the Dolphin House on the Big Island to celebrate my 70th birthday in April. Starting with the service of the Chauffeur and the lovely Greeter meeting us when we arrived was such a lovely way to start ones stay. The house is beautiful and the view along with the sunsets are spectacular! We truly enjoyed our strolls along the sea walk and the access to the sandy beach so close by. The sound of the crashing waves on the black lava rock and so close, was wonderful. The location of convenience to shopping as well as it being walking distance to Ali'i Street to get fresh fruit and vegetables at the open Market for great food and little shops and great coffee is also a plus. The house supplied us with everything imaginable and more. The gourmet kitchen where my family put together some great meals. Each of us having our own bedrooms and bathrooms. The open concept of the indoor/outdoor living to the pool area. The waterfall flowing into the pool. The family spent many hours in the pool. The indoor/outdoor garden as you come through the main entrance. This place is truly paradise. Thank you to the owners and the staff for making this time with my family so special! I hope to come back.
My husband and I rented this house for ourselves and 8 family members for our destination wedding on the Big Island in May 2013. Everything was perfect from our arrival until departure and we really enjoyed being able to walk along the ocean and into town for iced Cold Brew coffees! We hired a private chef to come a couple of nights and the serving ware that's in the house made this meal feel like a gourmet restaurant, but with the intimate and private home setting it was much more special and a fraction of the cost of eating out!
Kona Bay Estates is a gated community of upscale homes located on the ocean just north of Kailua Bay. Walk just a few minutes from the Dolphin House and you'll find a small sandy cove and beach perfect for adults or children and also a large recreational park.
