About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3 bath (two full, one half), Sleeps 8

Stays of less than one week in the fall are possible- please contact owner to inquire (three night minimum).

This is an immaculate and comfortable house sits right on the water and has steps and a floating dock for water access. Large windows give unobstructed views of the water from most rooms and there is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy. Hayden Point is a relaxing retreat that makes access easy for anyone with limited mobility. On a quiet dead-end road, the house is situated on a salt waterway leading to the Atlantic. Our large deck has both shaded and sunny areas.

The kitchen contains everything you need to cook a gourmet meal, but you also can get some of the best lobster in Maine 5 minutes away, and you are only five miles from downtown Rockland, which has several outstanding restaurants, as well as a fine art museum, galleries and shops. Camden is a short distance as well.

This spacious craftsman style home built in 2004 has 2.5 baths and sleeps 8 adults in three bedrooms (children are welcome, too!). Everything is on the ground floor except the third bedroom and bath. On the ground floor, a private master suite with water views has a king-size bed and sitting area, a large bathroom with a custom walk in shower, and two vanities (one within the bathroom and one in the hallway to the bath). A second bedroom on the ground floor has a queen-sized bed and small sitting area, and a nearby half bath. Upstairs there is a second full bath off a very large bedroom with a big sitting area, games table and 180 degree spectacular water views. The king-sized bed in this room can be separated into two extra-long twin beds and there also is a queen sleeper sofa. A portable crib is provided as well. The house has a great deal of closet space and drawers for storage. All linens are provided and are 100% cotton. A washer and dryer on the ground level provided as well.

The ground floor has the main living space with an open dining room, which seats 6-8 people, and living room overlooking the lawn and the water beyond. The kitchen is fully-equipped with solid-surface counter tops, cherry cabinetry, an electric oven, gas cook-top, dishwasher, trash-compactor, microwave, double-door refrigerator and dishwasher and a walk-in pantry. The kitchen has a breakfast nook and double French doors leading to the wraparound deck. The deck has a sun shade, table, plenty of seating and a grill.

The living room and den area is outfitted with comfortable and stylish furnishings, a flat-screen television, cable, a DVD player, stereo and Internet access. There is even a whole-house back-up generator, so no need to worry about power loss. Large windows overlook the deck and the expansive lawn and waterfront. Novels, local guide books and maps are also included.

South Thomaston is located just five miles from downtown Rockland, 15 miles from Camden/Rockport and five miles from the St. George Peninsula and the villages of Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde. Hayden Point is less than 10 minutes from Primo, one of the best restaurants in New England. There is also a boat launch open for public use about one half mile from the Hayden Point House, and a beautiful state park with a beach about five minutes away.

We have a professional caretaker on call during your stay should any problem arise. Dogs are allowed with owner permission and additional pet fee.

Why Kay Etheridge chose Owls Head

Mid-coast Maine is special due to the lovely people and beautiful setting. Hayden Point is quiet and away from it all, but only a 10 minute drive from Rockland, which has an abundance of shops, restaurants, galleries and lots to do. We have been going to Maine for more than 20 years and this is our favorite area by far.

What makes this house unique

Gorgeous sunsets over the water and beautiful morning and evening light. You can walk down onto the dock for your morning coffee. Most rooms have a water view through large windows. Clutter-free house with spacious, peaceful atmosphere.

Great quiet spot close to everything in the Rockland,Camden area

Nice, large home with deck and flat backyard. We set up the net for family volleyball and badmitten. The property had everything needed for a family vacation. I have used Homeaway a fair amount over the years and the owner was the easiest to deal with of them all.

Iconic Maine Home!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 6 and I (all adults) stayed at this lovely home for a week on vacation. We had a wonderful time exploring several parts of Maine, with many great suggestions from Kay. The home itself was exceptional, providing enough space for all 6 of us to either hang out together or have space to do our own thing. The yard is huge and we spent most of our time on the patio out back!

We would have thoroughly enjoyed spending a whole week at the house, but we did explore. Camden was one of our favorite harbor towns, but we also equally loved Birch Beach/Owls Head (only 2 miles away), Boothbay for whale watching and took a day trip to Acadia National Park! Rockland is the main town about 10 minutes away with wonderful art studios, restaurants, ice cream shops, and a fun pub or two. Kay was quick to respond with questions before the vacation and her excitement about the area made us even more excited to visit! We would absolutely stay again and couldn't recommend this home and owner enough!

All the comforts

  • 4 of 5

Hayden Point is a spacious home in a lovely, serene setting with easy access to all the Mid-Coast's attractions. Lucia Beach (Birch Point State Park), one of the area's most appealing spots, is a 5-minute drive, and in 12 minutes one can be in downtown Rockland, enjoying the many wonderful restaurants and the harbor scene. We loved reading on the deck and playing with our dog in the back yard. The property owner was a pleasure to work with, attentive to every detail of our stay.

Wonderful time of the year to visit the area.

No crowds, no waiting anywhere.

Foliage was awesome as was the cooler Fall weather.

The wonderful house and setting tops it all.

Party of three stayed here in early October. We were very comfortable and the home is nicely equipped. We have stayed at many VRBO rentals and everything was as described. Owner is very responsive to any needs.
