Thank you for visiting our cabin on VRBO. We are the Rigdons, Matt, Sara, Katie and Connor. We own and personally take care of 3 vacation cabins here in the beautiful blue ridge mountains of NC. Matt also is owner and operator of a small excavating company. Sara works part time as a home health nurse and basketball coach. Katie is 19 years old and attends CCTI PTA program. She loves to sing and play her guitar. Connor is 15 years old and is our miracle baby. You can read his story in our cabin. He loves to learn and play basketball.
Sara Rigdon purchased this cabin in 1997
In 2003 Matt who is a very ambitious person decided he wanted to build a log cabin. So with no previous experience he tackled the task. In the summer of 2005 he finally finished it. Then Sara decided it turned out so good that she wanted to use it as a vacation home for others to enjoy here in the mountains. Since then we have built 2 more and remodeled a 4th for vacations rentals. This. We named it 'Mtn Memories' cabin because this used to be our family home for 12 years.
The location of our cabin is perfect any time of the year. You will enjoy snow skiing, tubing and sledding in the winter. In the summer it is a perfect climate with temperatures in the low 70's to 80. You can visit Grandfather Mtn (mile high swinging bridge), Linville Falls, go hiking, biking, fishing, golfing, white water rafting and Zip Line tours. Kids will also love Tweetsie Railroad. Take a scenic drive on the blue ridge parkway.
We had a great time at the cabin during our Spring Break 2016. The first afternoon we were there it snowed and coming from Florida it was a special treat, especially for the kids who had never seen snow! They enjoyed running around in the spacious yard (as did the dogs), playing in the snow, and then defrosting in the warmth of the hot tub! With 2 moms, 4 kids, and 2 dogs the cabin did not feel cramped at all. The kitchen was well appointed and we enjoyed cooking and eating around the dinning table. The fireplace was so warm and cozy, it did take us a couple tries to get it going, but once we did it worked fine. The location was great as it was not remote, but you couldn't really see any neighbors either and was close to everything we wanted to see and do. The Food Lion grocery store was only 5 minutes away and the Walmart in Boone was just 25 minutes. We went trout fishing, gem mining, hiking to Elk Falls and Grandfather Mountain. I would definitely recommend this cabin to friends and family.
My family (6 adults) stayed comfortably in Mountain Memories cabin on March 2016. It was very clean, quiet but close to everything in Banner Elk. All skiing is close by. You are in the center of Valle Cruis, Hawks Nest, Sugar Mountain, Grandfather Mountain, Linville and Blowing Rock. We visited all these places during out stay. The gas logs add a nice touch to the home. I would recommend to anyone! Thanks so much!
This cabin was the perfect cabin retreat. Will definitely look to stay here again!!! 5 stars!
This is just the perfect little get-away spot!! The cabin was fantastic! Comfortable, peaceful, had everything we needed, and we LOVED having the hot tub after a day at Sugar Mountain! It's only minutes away from the ski hill which was fantastic for us since we have a kiddo that still naps, and being able to bring our fur baby was fantastic! We can't wait to come back in the summer and play in the huge yard and BBQ on the wrap around porch! Thank you so much for providing us with a home away from home! We will be back!!
Lovely property! Everything as described and very cozy. We had everything we needed. (Except wine glasses) Easy to get to. Easy communication with owner. Perfect for a short or long getaway! I recommended to some friends already.
Overall a great price for a great weekend. We had a group of 8 20-somethings here for a weekend and couldn't have asked for a better cabin at this price point. The hot tub was awesome, management (specifically Sara R) could not have made things easier and the privacy was perfect. There's plenty of parking and the road was very accessible, unlike some places higher up on the mountain. It is a bit of a haul if you plan on spending your nights drinking in Boone (about 25 minutes). I would definitely come back.
