|Minimum Stay||2 - 6 nights|
Perched 50 feet above Tims Ford lake, this retreat has Wide Open Views across the lake. A Large Floating Dock is perfect for Swimming, Boating, Water Skiing, Tubing, Fishing or Relaxing. The Master Bedroom has an incredible Lake View through 9 foot wide sliding glass doors with a Hot Tub just outside on the 400 square foot covered patio. In the evening, the living room can become a Home Theater with a 10' pull down screen and Surround Sound. There is a small universal gym in the second bedroom. The living room has a sofa and two Rocker Recliners. A community Boat Ramp is 500 yards from the house. Kayaks are available year round to explore the lake or nearby Goose Island. Originally designed as a 'mother-in-law' apartment, this 800 square foot property is the lower half of a lake home with a private entrance and sound-proofing.
This property is best for a romantic retreat for a couple, or a couple with one or two children old enough to swim and safely navigate the stairs to the lake. It can be used for two couples, but there is only one bathroom and the second bedroom doesn't have any windows. There is only parking room for two cars.
The owners travel frequently and are often not present. If the owners are present, they're usually 'invisible' and the backyard and dock are for exclusive use by the guests during their stay. We do have neighbors on both sides. One of them has small children, and we would prefer they not learn 'new words' :). So, this property is NOT a good choice for loud or late night partying. However, we can often provide special requests such as having a chilled bottle of champagne, cake or flowers waiting upon arrival for special occasions.
We also now have very high speed wireless Comcast Internet (50mbps +).
Dave is a former Navy F18 pilot and Lilli was in the medical field. They have an e-commerce business and Dave is an author. His Fuzed Trilogy is ForeWord Reviews Book of the Year & won the Eric Hoffer and eBook Epic Award (complimentary copy provided :).
We moved here for work reasons and fell in love with the area and people. It's a slower paced life in a beautiful surrounding but with plenty of opportunities to play. We travel frequently and thought it would be a waste not to share this little slice of paradise.
The apartment is very clean and cozy. The kitchen is well stocked. The view is beautiful. We were visiting our son in college . He enjoyed the homemade cookies that owner made. Sitting in the hot tub looking out over the lake was great. We will stay here again!
Perfect for 2 couples. The lake and lake access from the house are wonderful! We spent most of our time kayaking and paddle boating. There's a small island just across the lake, which was fun to explore. We roasted s'mores on the small fire pit on the dock and used the hot tub on the back patio. We also watched a movie from their collection, with the big projector and surround sound, which really is a great touch. The kitchen was stocked with lots of condiments, spices, cooking and baking materials, etc. We cooked all our meals in. The little neighborhood itself was quite the treat, a large private circle drive with lots of interesting homes and even a small (very old) family cemetery a couple of lots over. We really enjoyed ourselves and would love to return in summer. Thanks for everything!
My wife and I celebrated our 17th Anniversary with a two night stay. We enjoyed the quite setting with the gorgeous lake view. We fished twice using the kayaks and enjoyed the sunset on the dock. During the days we relaxed and went antique shopping in Winchester, Cowan and the surrounding areas. Our Anniversary dinner was celebrated at High Point near Sewanee. We had a great time and certainly would recommend this to other couples. Our hosts were very sweet and were quite to meet our needs. It was a wonderful stay!
We loved our stay with Dave and Lilli... it was our 18 year anniversary and when we got there, they had cookies made for us and a happy anniversary note. The place was so nice and felt like home. The place was stocked with so many items, there was really nothing that you would need. The view was amazing and the dock was wonderful. We hope to come back time and time again
The property is incredible with an amazing view and access to Tims Ford Lake. The private boat launch is very nice and secure. The house had everything we needed and more. Fishing in July is a bit slow, but we knew that going in, we did have some success, but if you are looking to slay the fish, pick a different time of year, this was not our main goal. Jet skiing on the lake and tubing was incredible, there was so much room we never felt cramped on the lake. The golf courses are also great, my son and I played Bear Trace and Scenic view, both are great courses. Bear Trace is a bit more upscale, but not snotty, while Scenic View is a family owned place that is unique in that they have 12 holes. Elk River Canoe trip was very low key and relaxing, not sure our 11 year old boy found enough adrenaline in that trip, but my wife and I loved it. Check out Big Marv's BBQ, you won't be disappointed. Overall I would say that this property and area is great, I give it a solid 9 out of 10.
Instead of our usual summer vacations to the beaches of the Carolinas and Virginia we decided to try something different. Best decision this summer! For less cost than a beach front condo, we had an amazing private lake front view off of the private dock. Two kayaks provided fun for the teenage girls as well as swimming and fishing from the dock.
The house was well furnished with everything we needed to enjoy our stay,
Rent a pontoon boat at Tims Ford Marina for a relaxing day exploring the rest of the lake. The weekdays on the lake were peaceful, without many boaters making it seem like your own private resort.
Will definitely be making plans for a return.
Tims Ford is a 10,700 acre lake with 246 miles of beautiful shoreline and less than 20% of shoreline development. Located in a secluded community, but just 12 minutes from local restaurants, a historic cinema and a Wal-Mart. The Jack Nicholas designed Bear Trace Golf Course was named one of the 'Top Ten Places You Can Play', and it's a 20 minute drive or 7 minutes by boat! For history buffs, less than 30 minutes away in Lynchburg is the Jack Daniels Distillery (the oldest in the US) and Wine Tasting, both open for tours and tasting. Sewanee and the University of the South, along with exceptional dining, are a 35 minute scenic drive up the mountain. The Bonnaroo Music Festival is also 35 minutes away. Less than 45 minutes to the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration in Shelbyville, and some of the best hiking trails in the Southeast, such as Fiery Gizzard and Stone Door. We are also an hour from Huntsville and the US Space Center (rides, museum & Space Camp), and 75 minutes to Chattanooga and 90 minutes to Nashville.
