Best Vacation Home Ever!!!

  • 5 of 5

We were so excited to discover this home on Home Away and I must say we were not disappointed when we arrived. All of the pictures on the listing were even more amazing in person! This is definitely a one of a kind property by the way it sits completely out over the water. The views from the dock and the Crow's Nest were beautiful and the sunsets were breathtaking.

Mike, the property manager met us when we arrived and was very helpful in telling us about the house and the local area. Our 4 families from Pennsylvania stayed here for a week and we all had plenty of space. The house and kitchen were well furnished and the gas grill was great to have there for the nights we cooked. The washer and dryer worked well and it was nice to have it there to use.

One of the highlights of our week was catching squid! It was amazing to see the squid come up to the dock at night when we would turn the light on. After 3 nights of trying to catch them with fishing rods, my son finally was successful at catching some with a net! We also caught a few crabs and lobsters from right there on the dock with crab nets. (They were too small to keep, so we threw them back!) We enjoyed hanging out on the dock at night and playing games with the kids.

In addition to the amazing house and dock, the town of Boothbay Harbor was quaint and beautiful. It was close enough to walk into town and enjoy the many shops and restaurants. Some of our favorite places were The Lobster Dock for seafood, Wannawaf for ice cream and waffles, and Waves Restaurant for a delicious breakfast. One of the families brought bicycles which were great to keep there at the house for the week and ride into town with.

We enjoyed driving to see some local lighthouses. Pemaquid Lighthouse is really neat to see and you can actually go up into the light house! We also took one day to drive up to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. It was well worth the drive if you have never been there! We also visited the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay. If you are a flower person you won't be disappointed!

It was a great week at The Dock and no one wanted to leave! I can't say enough good things about our vacation there. We would definitely return to stay here again!

A Special Spot in Every Way

  • 5 of 5

This is a special property in so many respects. Wonderfully designed for a group of 10 like ours with rooms nicely spread out so that early risers don't bother late sleepers, a comfortable living area with all the amenities (Wi-Fi, cable), spectacular water views from every room, and a huge outdoor deck area with picnic tables for meals. More to the point, the house is basically in the harbor, jutting out into all the boating, kayaking, and fishing action; it's called the Dock for a reason. I've never stayed in a property like it.

The Dock well located, within walking distance of town, with plenty of shopping nearby and lots of places of interest within easy driving distance.

Mike, the property manager, is terrific and always available to answer questions or help out. And he's a whiz a finding and delivering the best lobsters around.

This was our second year at the Dock. We'll be back.

Breathtaking views!

  • 5 of 5

The views were spectacular from inside and out! From the rooftop deck to the outside bar, where we watched the squid at night, this place has it all! The kitchen was well stocked and we had plenty of room for the 5 couples staying there. The extra sitting rooms were very useful. Mike was very helpful and responsive to anything that came up. Highly recommend this location as it is quite a unique experience being on top of the water! We enjoyed lobsters supplied by Mike (already cooked), we ate at Bets Fish Fry (a must stop when you go to Boothbay Harbor) and picked up lobster rolls at Trevitts. Did some shopping downtown and found some great buys! Wonderful week!

Great week @ "The Dock"

  • 5 of 5

Spent a great week at The Dock. We live on the New England coast so we took a bit of a flyer in going to Boothbay and were thrilled. Boothbay has everything you could need and the house was great for our extended family with several teens/tweens. while the town has some good restaurants we spent most of our evenings cooking out (the new gas grill was great) and watching the sunset. The nightly thrill was the squid fishing - interrupted by hungry seals - followed by late night calamari. Plan to go back again for sure.

Everything we hoped for and more

  • 4 of 5

What a view!!! Absolutely spectacular harbor view that was more amazing than the photos on the site! 14 of us(all family) spent the majority of our week simply taking in the scenery from the pier and enjoying each others company. We rented Kayaks for the entire week and spent many hours fishing from the pier. We pulled in a few mackerels and even a flounder(very rare I hear). When we did leave, we would wander into downtown Boothbay which is walkable but with young kids we would usually drive. Plenty of neat shops and restaurants to visit in town. Weather was warm during the day and cooled down substantially in the evenings which made for comfortable nights of sleep. All and all a great place and we plan on visiting again in the future. Only one negative, we would recommend a better grill. Many miles on the current one and was difficult to grill for as many people as we had. We mostly ate out so this didn't have a huge effect on our visit so we didn't even mention it to the property manager Mike. Mike was a truly amazing host I must say. Thumbs up to him!!! All in all a FANTASTIC vacation home!!!

Best Vacation Ever!!!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 7 gathered from around the country at The Dock House at Boothbay Harbor, Saturday, September 6th, 2014. We started laughing together that minute and never stopped till the week was over. The weather was fall perfect! The house could not have been better for a week in Maine. On the water, with a marvelous deck where we all spent a lot of time telling stories, reading and down right relaxing! The house layout and amenities were just right. Comfortable beds, nice towels and linens, washer/dryer, well equipped kitchen (although we opted to rely more on the great Harbor restaurants for meals). One of the highlights of our stay was a New England Lobster Bake, done at the house on the rocks, and served on the deck, with all the trimmings by the Rapid Radish Company. WOW! From walks to town, the numerous lobster rolls, harbor tour, visit to the lobster houses where the boats come in, the botanical garden and more. The owners were great to work with, too! As we said when we left, "BEST VACATION EVER!"
