Description

Photos and Description of this 6 bedroom holiday home in Skyline Country Club Estates

House, 6 Bedrooms, 6 Baths, (Sleeps 11)

This 6 bedroom/6 bathroom 9700' estate is located high on a hillside in gated country club community and sits on over an acre of private property. The estate, previously occupied by several celebrities, has rooms that are grand in size with incredible views, marble floors, beamed ceilings, 3 fireplaces, stone columns, heated pool and full outdoor kitchen and living space with gas fireplace.

Main level includes living room with grand piano and fireplace, dining room, private solarium overlooking the city with built-in music system, full lounge with sink and dishwasher, gourmet kitchen, breakfast room with deck, large walk-in pantry, full laundry room, and a kitchen and foyer powder room. The luxurious master suite has a jacuzzi tub, 42' plasma television and private deck.

The lower level includes 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths, media room with 70' HD home theatre system, stone fireplace, billiard room with bar and direct access to the pool and outdoor kitchen.

Grand Sized Living & Entertaining Spaces

Although there are other 4 or 5 bedroom rental properties there is nothing like this estate property due to the size, open entertainment areas and the close proximity to all amenities. The entertainment areas on the main level encompass the living room, commercially sized lounge and dining area and are over 2500 square feet; (the overall size of many properties) they open onto a grand-sized solarium which is 30 x 20 and has a built in music system and an entire wall of floor to ceiling windows with views of the city, golf course and mountains.

This property provides private sleeping quarters, and entertainment/recreational spaces for those times when you want to be together in a large space - all at a much lower overall cost than 5 or 6 separate hotel suites.

Media Room and Lower Level

The media room is located on the ground level; furnished with 70' home theatre, stone wood-burning fireplace, music system and comfortable sectional sofa. The space opens to the billiard room with its own wet bar and storage area and has direct access through the floor to ceiling glass doors to the outdoor kitchen, patio and pool area.

4 bedrooms and 3 full baths are located on this level - all with views and 3 with private patios or decks. Bedroom #3 & #4 share a large full bath with dressing area and are well suited for a family with small children that may require some supervision. Bedroom #4 is very large with a 60' television, large leather sofa, king-sized bed, double closet, private deck with a view and large windows overlooking the mountains and the pool area. Two sets of stairs access the area from the kitchen and the upstairs lounge.

Kitchen Suite

The kitchen is equipped with 2 convection wall ovens, a sub-zero refrigerator/freezer, a sub-zero freezer, 50-bottle wine refrigerator, 5 burner cook top with 1 induction burner, dishwasher, and microwave. A built in 32' flat screen television is adjacent to the cook top; perfect for watching while cooking! The suite has a large walk-in pantry, powder room, breakfast room with deck and laundry room. The laundry room is equipped with front-loading high efficiency appliances, wall to wall cabinetry, a pull out craft or sewing table, closet and a large window with a great view.

Impressive and private location

  • 5 of 5

We were a family of five and enjoyed all the space there was to offer. It met all our needs and more, a pleasant pool and outside space. All the bedrooms were very comfortable and spacious all with verandas and superb views over Tucson. There was a well equipped kitchen and comfortable seating in all the rooms. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property.

Little outdated and needs some deep cleaning

  • 3 of 5

We stayed at this home for a week in March. We were celebrating a 100th Birthday, a 50th Wedding Anniversary, and grandchildrens spring break.

There was plenty of room for 13 people. Kitchen was well supplied. My reason for 3 stars is the pool was hard to heat for the children, and the rooms

were dusty. The elevator did not work, so we could not get my mother down to the outdoor kitchen and pool. It was too hard to figure out the TV in the lower level. The view was spectacular and location

was perfect. A grocery store was only a mile away. In spite of those few criticisms, we had a wonderful time.

Great family vacation

  • 5 of 5

family vacation

I grew up in Tucson and decided to celebrate my 65th birthday by bringing my kids and grand kids there; we had 9 adults and two young children for a week. The stay was excellent - the hacienda was large and clean, with 4 good sized bedrooms (3 of which had TVs and great views of Tucson) 3 bathrooms, and a 5th room that was easily converted to a bedroom. The kitchen was well stocked - we had 5 of 7 dinners there, mostly eating on the outside deck overlooking the Tucson valley. The location is beautiful, in the foothills, and we happened to be there when the desert was in full bloom. The backyard has a very nice heated (84 degrees) pool and separate jacuzzi, and overlooks the entire Tucson valley - truly beautiful both at daytime and night. The house was big enough that there was excellent privacy and it was surprisingly quiet from one end of the house to the other. The kids appreciated the wildlife - including a visit or two from havalena, rabbits, many birds, a snake, and desert squirrels. The property manager was very helpful and responsive, and greeted us with snacks and wine even though we arrived at a little after 10:30pm; she also allowed us to check out quite late our last day. If there could be any criticism, it might depend on what places one might want to visit; Old Tucson, the Desert museum and the Saguaro national park are all about a 40 minute drive (and well worth visiting); Sabino Canyon is only about 15-20 minutes away; University of Arizona is about a 30 minute drive; but I think the drive is well worth it given the ideal location in the foothills.

Needs updating and a good general cleaning

  • 2 of 5

We we never told before that you had to pay for electricity. No where was it stated. When we got to the house, the kitchen was not clean at all, so I called the manager and he sent over his wife and daughter. They had several reasons why things were the way they were, in other words excuses. They did very little, while they were there. Our grandchildren were unable to use the pool, because it never did heat up, but we were charged for using to much electricity, because the pool, hot tub, and grill you had to pay for, if you went over the limit. The manager was called by our daughter-in-law to fix the pool, so we could use it,but never did work. The T.V. downstairs didn't work either. The cleaning lady asked if we got it to work.because they tried and couldn't get it to work. Our grandson finally goy it to work. Mr. Chapman, said he had to hold back $200 , because we used our limit of electricity, and he didn't charge us for messing up the T.V..The house was very dusty, you could write your name on the furniture, plus light bulbs were burnt out all over the house. The pictures that are on VRBO need to be updated. It says there are two refrigerators, only one works.Maid said the one hadn't worked for seven years.Called Mr. Chapman, but wouldn't return my calls.

Owner's Response: The vast majority of all guests we have are respectful of the property, understand that it is a large home not a Ritz-Carlton, and appreciative of the hard work of the people I have hired to manage and clean this estate. Unfortunately, once every few years we have a guest who is impossible to please and/or tries to take advantage of us if possible. This complaining guest was both. Over the last seven years that this house has been used only for temporary guests, we have never once before these people had anyone expect us to provide an unlimited utility allowance. We provide a $250 per week allowance for electricity and natural gas that is sufficient to cover the usage of approximately 90% of all guests throughout the year. The problems with these guests began shortly after they arrived. They expressed surprise that a large outdoor swimming pool was not heated in January. Since even Arizona has temperatures that routinely dip into the 30s at night, and usually only the 60s during the day, the vast majority of all guests would not even think of swimming outdoors- heated pool or otherwise. When it was politely explained by the property manager that he could indeed heat the pool but that it could be expensive to do so, they immediately alleged that the house was dusty but that they would trade acceptance of the dust for free pool heat. Obviously, those are not equivalent things and we do strive to make sure the house is clean, so we turned down their request for a trade, and immediately sent the woman who is in charge of all cleaning up to the house to re-clean the areas they alleged were dirty or dusty. She dutifully wiped down all those areas and reported afterwards there was no dust or dirt of any kind, but nevertheless she went through the motions. These guests were simply trying to try to get a free heated pool by falsely alleging that the property was not clean. Finally, during this guest's stay someone in their party took it upon themselves to change the wiring of a complex home theater, probably to use a video game on the large TV screen, and then never returned the cables to the proper locations, making the TV essentially unusable. The technician I had to hire to correct this spent several hours trying to figure out where the problem was. Since I did not yet have that technicians bill to me when I needed to return this complaining guests damage deposit, I did not charge them anything for this expensive aggravation.

Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

This was a special trip that had been planned for more than a year. It included grandparents, children, and grandchildren. This house was chosen because it could accommodate our large group, the pool, and the view. The views are stunning, unfortunately that is where it ends. This house is outdated, which we had no issue with, had it been clean and well maintained. The photos lead you to believe this is a high end property, though it does not feel this way with the mismatched furniture and endless book of rules found on each floor. We expected to use the pool on a daily basis, but did not expect that this was an additional charge of $100+ a day to heat the pool, which would need 1 full day to heat prior to any use. We ended up with one afternoon in a pool at a condominium complex where friends live. Grill by pool also subject to additional gas fee. We could not find a room that did not have layers of dust or burnt out light bulbs (at least 50% of lighting not working). Light switches on walls labeled with permanent black marker. The kitchen was deemed unusable upon arrival for the filthy sink, dirty dishcloth in the sink, and build up of grease on stove top and microwave. When things are not clean, it is difficult to relax and feel comfortable. We did contact property manager with our concerns, each being met with an excuse. He did send his wife and daughter to the house to clean the kitchen. They did wipe down the counter tops and stove, but this did not address the build up of grease. Not being able to use the kitchen only added to our trip expense. Our plans to fix some of our own meals turned into frozen pizza on foil and eating out. Going out with such a large group though, seating in restaurants is not always feasible. There was also a 2 roll limit of toilet paper per bathroom. This was not a big issue, but just one more on top of all the others. Much of this could have been avoided had the owner been forthcoming about additional fees in the contract, although that would not address the cleanliness. We have utilized VRBO for other vacation rentals, and have also owned vacation rental property ourselves. This is not a professional operation.

Great sized house in need of TLC

  • 3 of 5

We stayed at this home for 2/17-2/22, 2016 and it was able to accommodate the six couples in our group. The views from the house were spectacular and the bones of the house were good. Nice kitchen area and nice outdoor sitting area. Master bedroom was huge and we were happy to have multiple bathrooms for showering and getting ready for our day excursions. There were a few reasons to give 3 stars. One was that the pool was an additional charge to run and only heated up to 77 degrees F after running the heater for 4 hours. The spa remained luke warm. We decided it wasn't economical and then shut the heater off. Beware of the 3rd floor bed as it fell apart in the middle of the night several times on our friends. It was easily put back together, but this was a big inconvenience for them. Despite following directions, we could not get many of the remotes and light switches to work. We noticed our feet/socks were very dirty from the floors and carpets, so we mopped the kitchen floor but felt the carpets needed to be shampooed. If you choose to stay here, don't let the minor inconveniences ruin your stay, as the size of the house and the view more than make up for it.
