Domaine de Romefort lies five minutes from the medieval pilgrimage site of St Leonard de Noblat. This town, as well as Domaine de Romefort, are situated along the centuries-old pilgrimage route to St Jacques de Compostela Ella (Spain) and Rome. The origin of the word refers to Rome (Fort Romaeus) and fort, a solid and secure place to protect pilgrims (Roman Catholic). Domaine de Romefort lies in the region of the Haute Vienne (just above the Dordogne) and is 20 kilometers from the city of Limoges. This area is ideal for hikers and families who love nature (this is a great place, for example, for family reunions). Domaine de Romefort is an old farm which has been transformed into 11 luxurious cottages. The swimming pool of more than 100 square meters, built after the summer of 2008, represents the best way to cool off during the warm summers. Domaine de Romefort is situated on grounds of 28 hectares which contains fields and woods. A number of accommodations were renovated in 2008. The environment is very diverse, green and hilly and the views from here are simply magnificent! Around the 28 hectares lie woods where you can take a walking tour of one hour. Along this route you can find places to rest or have something to eat. On the east side of Romefort you will find the extensive area around Lac de Vassiviere. This lake comprises 10 square kilometers and provides the opportunity to enjoy a number of water sports. The forests in the immediate surroundings are ideal for hiking and mountain biking. 15 minutes away (by car) there is a recreational lake which has a beach with lifeguards and a space for a variety of activities. Along the field lies the Vienne River which is suitable for canoeing. Along the river you will see many watermills that are still in use.
The "Manoir" accommodation has a total area of 270 m2 and can accommodate up to sixteen persons. It has five bedrooms, two living rooms (with separate exits) and five bathrooms. The rooms are large and a baby crib is available if needed. The ground floor has underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove which makes Manoir very suitable even in the winter. The entire Manoir accommodation has wireless Internet access. On the ground floor there is the Salle à Manger/ dining room. This has cozy authentic space heating as well as a wood-burning stove. The large kitchen allows cooking for large groups. The kitchen is very well equipped and contains eight gas burners, a dishwasher, microwave, separate oven and fridge with freezer. On the ground floor you'll find bedroom 1, which is accessible for the disabled and has two single box spring beds. The bathroom here has a bathtub, sink and toilet and is also suitable for the disabled. On the ground floor there is also one separate toilet. Outside there is a large table with an umbrella where you can enjoy a meal together. On the first floor there are three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Bedrooms 2 and 3 each contain two single box spring beds plus a private bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Room 4 (suite) offers accommodation for up to five persons and consists of two rooms with a living area and a bathroom with a bathtub, sink and toilet. One room has two single box spring beds, the other has three single box spring beds. The upper floor includes a cozy Salle de Sejour (living room) with comfortable sitting area, large table, small kitchenette and separate toilet. On the first floor you will find the fifth bedroom, which offers space for five persons and consists of two rooms with en suite bathroom (with shower, sink and toilet). One room has two single box spring beds, the other has a bunk bed plus one single box spring bed. The rooms are large and a crib can be added if necessary. Final cleaning and sheets are required. A highchair and baby crib are available upon request (free). Please bring bath linen (towels and tea towels) and bed linen for the crib.
