Overview

About the property

Cabin, Studio, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 1-3)

Green Acres Ranch is more than a cozy place to stay...it is a work of art surprising its happy guests with beauty and creativity.

The ranch has two separate cabins (rented individually or together - see our other VRBO listing #506635) and is on acres of clean and sparse Mojave Desert land. Several lounging areas, hammocks, and fire pits help you soak up the sun, the stars, a good book or a glass of wine (It's rumored that a bottle has greeted a guest or two).

For those who love wildlife, our mature trees and other plant life attract a host of twittering birds and scurrying critters: quail, doves, friendly bats, and roadrunners to name a few. Ravens often nest in the large Tamarisk trees at the front gate, raising new hatchlings each year.

We're located less than a mile away from the boundary of Joshua Tree National Park, and our convenient location near the 62 Highway provides easy access to all nearby locations without sacrificing a sense of peaceful seclusion. Daily excursions may include Joshua Tree National Park (West entrance less than ten minutes away), East Mojave Scenic National Area, Big Morongo Wildlife Preserve, Palm Springs, the Coachella Valley, Big Bear Mountain, Twentynine Palms, Pioneer Town, or Giant Rock.

Why Sandra Lee chose California

Joshua Tree is the best getaway from the city, if you want big open skies and uncrowded spaces! Green Acres Ranch has a relaxed and unpretentious feeling that guests instantly respond to.

What makes this cabin unique

What our guests really enjoy about the property is that it provides great comfort, yet has the slight feel of 'roughing it'. We are private, and yet easily accessible to Highway 62.

quirky and art-full

  • 5 of 5

we loved the art-y vibe and aesthetic at the cabin. judging by the fun decor, it would have been cool to meet the owners; however, we had no contact at all with them. the rental was spacious, with indoor and outdoor options for relaxing. open vistas added to spaciousness. wish we'd had more time to hang out, play horseshoes, etc.

we were a bit unsure at first if we were even in the right rental--outside it says Fort Freaky, and we didn't see any reference to the name Cactus Flower anywhere, nor our names in greeting. but the place was definitely PINK, as described!

great location, just minutes from JTNP.

a few omissions: oddly, there was no container for recyclables, and also no luggage rack/place to put suitcase for easy access (other than on the couch, which we would have preferred to use as a couch).

overall, we very much enjoyed our stay, and will highly recommend to others visiting the area.

Owner's Response: Hello and thank you for your review! We unfortunately don't often get to meet our guests in person, as we live a few hours away, but we are always a phone call, text or email away. In general, we like our guests to feel that the place is all theirs. Good point about the recycling. We don't have a means of recycling, but we are adding instructions. The closet to the right of the tv has a rod for clothes, and space for luggage, though it is a great idea to add luggage racks. We will do so. We are always getting better, so we appreciate feedback on the small things that we can easily improve!

Artsy, cozy, a jewel in the desert!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved the Cactus Flower cottage and Green Acre ranch. The cottage was beautiful and comfortable from the inside out! Very spacious for the two of us! Big bedroom and spacious living room. We enjoyed the back patio for the cool morning breakfast and dark night star gazing! Highly recommend!

A pretty little place that I would visit again

  • 4 of 5

I really enjoyed staying in the Cactus flower cabin. It was small and comfortable, well lit, and very clean. It is artfully decorated with artifacts and furniture that have stories to tell. The cacti were blooming and there were several different species of birds very near to the cabin. We used the cabin as home base while we explored Joshua Tree National Park. I didn't realize until we'd traveled into the park that many of the same species of plants (ocotillo, joshua trees, chola cactus) are right in the yard next to the cabin! I watched both sunrise and sunset from the cabin, which is a real treat.

The kitchen was very clean and well stocked with utensils.

I greatly appreciated the way the owners accommodated the last minute change to my schedule.

The only downside to this whole experience is that I found the bed to be uncomfortable and there was no information about what to do with our recycling.

Great location near Joshua Tree NP

  • 5 of 5

This is one fantastic, eclectic and comfortable little get-away. There are plenty of playful details to catch the eye in the Cactus Flower. The large backyard with hammocks and fire pit made for some relaxing times under the stars. There's also a horseshoe pit for daytime fun or nice lounge chairs to enjoy the desert sun. Our dog enjoyed exploring the backyard too!

The owners, Sandra and Albert, were attentive to our every need and checked in via text from time to time to see if we needed anything.

We can't wait to get back out this summer. It's one of our favorite places to stay!

Perfectly dreamy!

  • 5 of 5

This is was the perfect place to stay on my first visit to Joshua Tree! So cozy, comfortable, clean, and artsy. I loved having a private cactus garden and patio and I felt so removed from everything but just a 5 minute drive from town. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!

Private, convenient access to Park, charmingly eclectic.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed privacy, sunshine, and good meals in a little house with an artistic and eclectic mix of furnishings. Enjoyed early sun and cups of coffee outside in the cooler but still warm mornings, exploring Joshua Tree NP every day and coming back to a meal and glass of wine at night while watching the sun set. Perfect get-away for those of us living in the snowy north. The house is quite central to all park entrances off of hwy 62.
