The Haus Knüppel in St. Andreasberg im Oberharz is centrally located in a quiet side street. Baker, butcher and supermarket in 2-3 minutes. From here you have a wonderful view of the Matthias-Schmidt-Berg. In the winter, it serves as an alpine ski area and in the summer the guests enjoy the 550 m long toboggan run. The national park community of Sankt Andreasberg lies on 600 to 900 altitudes and offers ideal conditions for hiking, cycling, fishing, and skiing. Attractions include the 550m-long summer funicular, the mountain bike downhill park, the high-rope garden with rope slide, the Samson mine, which is part of the world cultural heritage, the Sternwarte, the Harz canary museum and the annual tradition festivals. On the Matthias-Schmidt-mountain as well as on the nearby Sonnenberg you will find in the winter the alpine and snowboard centers with lifts and refreshments. Especially cross-country skiers find perfect conditions in and around Sankt Andreasberg. And if you like tobogganing, you can not get past Sankt Andreasberg: the toboggan run with Snowtubingbahn, located directly at the Kurhaus, is a visitor magnet for young and old. From Sankt Andreasberg you can make great day trips to Braunlage (12km), Bad Lauterberg (12km), Clausthal-Zellerfeld (21km) as well as Bad Harzburg (25km).
