Vieques is located 8 miles from the east coast of Puerto Rico. Enjoy the secluded, white sand beaches and turquoise sea. There are horses roaming with egrets as companions. It's the perfect spot to relax and recharge. It is an island that appears to be in a time warp of 50 years ago when life was simple.
Paul is an engineer originally from Florida. He moved to Vieques from Virginia in 1994. He began his life in 'paradise' as a dive instructor and eventually obtained his engineering and surveying licenses in Puerto Rico. When not working he enjoys fishing and traveling. Jane moved to Vieques from Massachusetts in 1987. She had been marketing legal services, food product promotion and was a real estate broker in Massachusetts. She became a licensed real estate broker in Puerto Rico from which she recently retired. Jane also enjoys fishing and traveling.
Jane or Paul purchased this condo in 2001
Our property is located in Bravos de Boston on the north coast of Vieques. The north coast is stunning with gentle breezes all year and beautiful sunsets. The property is a two story, two unit building on a hill overlooking the sea. It is relaxing and totally pleasant and a delight to listen to the waves in the background. Each unit is private and nothing is shared.
The view and the sunsets seduced us. Looking at the ocean views is a delight. It is an ever changing canvas - we can watch a rain storm passing by on it's way to El Yunque on the main island, fish jumping and a ray dancing along the surface for a moment or two. It is comfortable and it is home!
The property is beautiful with tastefully orchestrated details decorating the walls. The owners are also on top of their game. They are very responsive and were willing to help when we had a question. This place literally had everything you'll need and even things that you didnt think you needed until you came across it. They even had a wireless jambox player for the beach! The place is well located up the street from the ferry port and is located on top of a hill with great views. Vieques was a great time and the beaches are second to none. Come here and stay at this place and you wont regret it for a second. Thanks for the great time !!
My wife and I loved the place. Everything you need is there and then some. We go to visit Vieques regularly and I can say I will never stay at a hotel ever again, and if I plan a trip I will make sure I reserve Wind Dancer. Thanks Jane & Paul you have a beautiful home.
We spent 10 days at Wind Dancer and thoroughly enjoyed it. Jane and Paul were terrific hosts. The kitchen is fitted out with high quality gear - Calphalon, good knives, plenty of gadgets and Fiesta Ware, so it was a pleasure to cook and eat here. And a large outdoor gas grill! We ate dinner on the patio every night, watching the daylight fade over the sea as the Caribbean night sounds come up. (There is, however, a full size dining table inside.) The beds are firm and very comfortable. We slept so well here! The decor and furnishings are well done, with interesting art on the walls (the fan blades could be replaced, but that's a minor thing). After dinner, or sometimes in the middle of the day, we'd jump in the spa tub on the patio to chill out. Location-wise, we felt very safe and found the location to be an easy drive to anything you want to see on the island. Jane and Paul provide lots of toys and gear or the beach - snorkels, umbrellas, chair, etc. Pretty much anything you think you might need to enjoy yourself is ready to hand. Cable TV and wifi worked very well, except for the one time when Mother Nature took them down with a storm. Not a big deal, as watching the storm itself from the patio was plenty entertaining! The place is very large. We were just ourselves, and really enjoyed having all the room. This would be a great option for 2 couples or a family of four, given the separate, very large bed/bath suites, lots of closet space, large living area and patio, with the added bonus of a washer and dryer.
Bottom line: A great place for a relaxing vacation.
We had a great time at the Wind Dancer. The other reviews are accurate, and the description of the property is spot-on. The owners of the property were wonderful and I never felt they were in the way. The entrance to the Wind Dancer is so separate that it feels as though you are in a completely different home. The kitchen is nicely stocked and all the amenities are great, especially the hot tub and outdoor shower. Being at the end of the road was nice as it provided a privacy that was nice. The patio is an amazing place to sit in the morning and have breakfast. I can't wait to come back.
We decided to go to Vieques for the new years weekend and found Jane's "Wind Dancer" to be the perfect retreat. The two bedroom villa, each with its own bathroom was perfect for my wife and I and our two daughters. We rent our own luxury villa in Rincon PR through Homeaway, so I have a pretty good idea what to look for, and this comfortable villa didn't disappoint us at all. The villa was completely modernized with a totally remodeled kitchen, living room, and spacious king sized bedrooms. And the bathrooms were completely redone as well. The views of the water from the veranda were stunning. Very tropical and on the quiet side of the island.
My husband and I got married the day before we arrived on Vieques, and could not have been happier with Wind Dancer when we saw the property! Like previous reviews stated, the property was even better than we had expected, and we really loved our stay. Not only did it have everything we needed (and things we didn't need but are fun to have on vacation and add to the experience), but the accommodations are very comfortable and the views spectacular. We cooked most of our meals at the house and enjoyed eating on the veranda, relaxing, laughing, and spending time with a little cat who decided to hang out with us while we were there. Jane had prepared a list of restaurants that were open during the season and has a lot of other to-do and how-to information on site, making it easy to get around the island stress free. We were also picked up from the airport and received a wonderful "this is where you can find..." tour on the way to the property. Vieques itself is beautiful and so fun, and we have been recommending to folks to visit, and to stay at Wind Dancer if they do. We thoroughly enjoyed driving around the island, the beaches, the scenery, and all of the local flair. My husband and I are hoping to get back to the island in the not too distant future, and hope to stay at Wind Dancer again as well. I couldn't imagine a better week, or a better honeymoon!
