Beautiful location and property

  • 5 of 5

We were very impressed by the home, especially its gorgeous setting on the Santiam River. Our kids loved the fire circle as well as the pool table and air hockey. We took long day trips to the ocean at Newport and the Mt. Jefferson area on the way to Bend. Silver Falls State Park, which is fantastic, is 45 minutes away. (We went twice.) A great week!

Great for a family retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our family with five adult children had a wonderful time sitting around talking, playing games and shooting some pool. We wanted to go on some hikes but it was raining and the trails were slippery.

This place has a MOUSE infestation, the owners knew it and did not inform us.

  • 1 of 5

We recently spent 3 weeks at this property. During our stay we went to wash the king bed sheets and found mouse turds between the fitted sheet and the mattress pad. We also found mouse turds in the queen bedroom dresser, where all the clean sheets and towels are stored. We realize that properties can from time to time have a mouse. But what upset us is after talking to the owners about the mice, they informed us that they had killed a few mice just 2 days before we arrived, but didn't tell us about it. They should have called us and given us the opportunity to cancel. With the TURDS in various parts of the house, they obviously have an infestation. This is different than having an occasional mouse! We do not appreciate being treated this way. The owners should have realized how serious an infestation they had and given us the opportunity to cancel. We did NOT appreciate living in the filth!!!!! Our advice to any potential renters of this property, BE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND INQUIRE ABOUT IT BEFORE YOU RENT!!!!! Our experience was not pleasant or enjoyable, we were grossed out.

Owner's Response: We are very hands-on and proud owners of our Oregon home in the woods. We stay a considerable amount of time here. We would never ask or expect any guest to stay in a place that we would not stay in ourselves. We strive to provide a clean, comfortable and relaxing getaway. We strive to provide a resolution to any issues that may arise promptly and completely. We strive for excellence. In this particular case, this guest gives an exaggerated story. We did remove 1 mouse and we were convinced that all was cleared up before this guest arrived. This guest did not communicate any issue until a few days before their scheduled check-out. They had reported seeing one mouse poop. We offered a solution of an early check-out in addition to compensation. They declined and were happy to stay until their scheduled check-out date. Our reviews are our report card and we strive to constantly improve. If we think the property is not clean and in rent-able condition, we will not advertise it to rent. We have never asked VRBO to edit or remove a review so our guests can be assured that we have a very high satisfaction rate. Beth and Roger

Wonderful location and cabin

  • 5 of 5

Everyone in our group loved the location, the cabin, the woods and everything about this place. Amazing views of the river and the creek out front was wonderful, the woods were lush and green. The deck down by the river was a favorite for everyone along with nightly fires in the fire pit with marshmallows. The large main deck was a great spot for dinner and card games. The proximity to Detroit Lake was perfect allowing for two day trips out on boats on the lake yet once back in the cabin it felt very secluded and isolated in a great way.

We will be back again!

Serenity, Peaceful, Comfortable Glamping

  • 5 of 5

I rented this house to spend some quality time fishing and outdoors with my grandsons from Portland. Having a very bad back, tent camping is out and I need comfortable furniture and beds to sleep in. When my husband and I walked in this house was so clean and much more delightful then the pictures show. My grandsons absolutely were immediately impressed with all the fun things it offered an 8 and 12 year old. They had their own room and bathroom downstairs with an air hockey table and a large assortment of games.

Upstairs is a pool table and they spent some wonderful time with their grandfather playing pool.

We loved the outdoor area and all the seating it provided along with a firepit for s'mores and hot dogs.It also, has a very accessible path leading down to the river with stairs that we were all able to negotiate. They fished and caught 4 trout the week we were there and went swimming on a 95 degree day. There is a perch table down by the river to sit and watch or get reprieve from the sun. I enjoyed walking down there in the morning with my coffee and my grandsons with their cocoa and having some great talks.

The kitchen is well equipped and I lacked nothing for cooking all the meals there along with a nice propane barbeque for outdoor cooking. We were planning on a dinner out but, ate them all there due to the convenience and view we had. The river is beautiful and it is so peaceful there it made for a very memorable vacation for us all.

Two things I enjoyed were the geese that fly up the river several times a day. I could hear them honking when approaching and would step outside to watch them. We saw eagles, osprey and other wildlife. Also, there is a small creek that runs in front of the house with a trail. At night from the master bedroom with the windows open you can hear the rippling sound and it is so relaxing.

The owners were great and you can tell are making improvements and keep up the house. The outdoor deck and furniture look like recent additions and it is well done and very comfortable.

We all agreed it was a fantastic house and we will be returning to make some more s'mores and memories.
