This property was absolutely beautiful. Arriving at the property was breathtaking with all of the surrounding tree covered mountains and nature. This was only matched by the secluded, yet conveniently located, property. After traveling up the driveway, you see a tennis court, basketball court and the wonderful home. The property is beautifully maintained, as is the home. The home provides a country feel with all of the amenities of a newly built home. The owners have taken meticulous care of the property. Moreover, they thought of everything. Seriously, the kitchen is fully equipped, there are multiple rooms, the screened in porch permits outdoor exposure without full exposure, the front porch is Rockwellian, the bathrooms have all of the amenities and the home is filled with details that keep smiles on the faces of the inhabitants. The pool is wonderful and encompassed in a peaceful, fully fenced in area that provides an oasis on a property that has ample picturesque, quiet areas. The pond and gazebo are beautiful and provide another means of reflection or activity, depending on one's objectives. The property is sprawling and provides ample options for hiking, exploring or observing wildlife. The sunsets and sunrises were beautiful and the stars were unmatched. The surrounding mountains offer some history, along with countless outdoor activities.
The property is close in proximity to numerous wonderful small towns that offer great food, art, farmer's markets, historical tours and a plethora of other activities. The people in the surrounding community are welcoming and warm. Boat tours of the Hudson River are also a wonderful and readily available option for activities.
My wife and I went to stay at the property for our anniversary. Our sister, nieces (2) and nephew came along for the first half of the week long stay. The kids range in age from ten (10) to fifteen (15) and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Once they departed from home, the property had sufficient options and a surplus of tranquil beauty that my wife and I spent several of the remaining days on the property enjoying all it had to offer. In fact, we had such a wonderful time, my wife and I extended our stay another day.
Carol was an absolutely pleasure to deal with from the initial reservation to the end of our stay. She was communicative, cooperative and very accommodating. The pride the family has in this property shows through and it is wholly warranted.
I can't say enough great things about this vacation. I echo the sentiments of the other reviews. The house was perfect. Carol and her family have given careful thought to what a vacation house should have. The kitchen has everything you could possibly ever need. The pool was so great - my kids went swimming every day and couldn't get enough of the water. My family went on the hiking trails and we used the tennis court and basketball net. If you want to get away from it all and you want to relax with your family, this is the perfect house. There is something for all ages. Thank you Carol for a wonderful vacation.
From the initial reservation, to several interchanges with Carol, to the actual long weekend at the end of June, this was a marvelous (and surprise) celebration of my wife's 75th birthday. Ten of us -- including our children and grandchildren -- stayed in almost perfect comfort, surrounded by beauty and in a beautiful home. Our three grandchildren would have stayed in the wonderful pool forever if we had permitted it. We all enjoyed the grounds greatly and there is lots to do. With such a large group, two of us had to sleep on the pull out couch in the media room. I do not recommend that. The mattress is hard as a rock and somewhat inclined. Other than that, the accommodations were perfect and Carol could not have been more helpful. She allowed us to come early on Friday and leave late on Monday. Less than two hours from New York City, the house and the grounds have everything one could ask and more. A truly memorable weekend.
We had a perfect Memorial Weekend! The house is fabulous: there is a big, FULLY-stocked kitchen, which is perfect for cooking with friends (and cleanup was easy with two dishwashers!), a cozy library/tv room, a stunning Master bedroom and several other very comfortable bedrooms, air conditioning in every room, beautiful bathrooms, a great tennis court and a large heated pool. There is also a wonderful screened-in porch with a large dining table, which we used every night and a great bbq and outdoor seating area. The house is the perfect mixture of old and new. Our kids loved fishing in the pond, playing board games and generally spreading out (not something they can do easily in Manhattan.) We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to friends and hope very much to go back!
We stayed at this lovely house in mid-May and it was a delight! The owner has a lovely house, every room had charm and we felt like we were at a B & B. The house is situated on a beautiful secluded site and there was tons to do from the pool to the basketball court to the trampoline. My kids even fished in the little pond. The owner thought of everything to make our stay great, all we had to do was show up with our groceries. The patio has a beautiful grill and lots of our door seating and tables. The farmhouse kitchen was my favorite room, a delight to be in. A very special place and we hope to be back someday.
This was an absolutely amazing place to stay!! We had family from around the country come in to attend a promotion ceremony at West Point. The pictures don't do it justice - the kitchen was gourmet to say the least with any and all supplies/spices etc you could ever need. 2 dishwashers were so helpful and the beverage fridge was a huge bonus. The grounds were breathtaking and serene. The pond with the fishing gear was a hit and trampoline and trails were popular as well. Can't really comment on the tennis and basketball as we didn't take advantage of them. The back screened porch was the best! It adds so much living space. Tons of places to sleep and we all found the beds to be very comfy. I can't stress enough how great this place is and I would, without any hesitation, recommend this and would absolutely come back again and again!
