Overview

Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday home in Cooper Landing

House, 4 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

This is a very private 2700 sq ft waterfront home on the river at the end of the road in Cooper Landing, Alaska. We have 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. We are located on the low-bank side of the river just below the Kenai River Princess Lodge, just up stream from the Upper Kenai River rapids. Our wadeable 400 yd. long gravel bar is a favorite stop for most of the guides for Rainbow Trout.

The king sized master bedroom has a private lavish bath, sitting area, balcony and a spectactular mountian view. The two Queen sized bedrooms have beautiful river views. There is a bunk room down stairs as well as two futon doubles in the upstairs game room. There is a full sized washer and dryer. The granite kitchen offers full sized appliances and is fully equipped to make your gourmet dinners, lunches and breakfast. We have a full sized freezer in the garage to keep all your fish and there is a cleaning table with water set out by the rivers edge for fish cleaning. We provide a Food Saver vaccume packer - just bring your bags.

The screened in gazebo with table and chairs offers bug-free outside dining and there is a picnic table located by the river as well. We are only minutes away from the Kenai-Russian River confluence and only a few steps away from great fishing in your own private backyard.

About Rick & Karol

I am just an old goat that loves the Lord, loves my wife and loves to fish. We 1st came to AK in 1995 for vacation and fell in love with the Kenai River and Cooper Landing. Unable to find property in Cooper Landing we bought and built our retirement home on the River in Sterling about 30 minutes south of here. In June of 2007 we found this magnificent place and could not pass it up. Still in Texas working and enjoying part of the summer fishing up here, all we need now is to figure out how to retire.

Rick & Karol purchased this house in 2007

Why Rick & Karol chose Kenai Peninsula

We chose this house in Cooper Landing because the views are spectacular, the fishing is fantastic and the wildlife/bird viewing is great. The location makes it the ideal location to access the entire Kenai Peninsula. The residents of Cooper Landing are some of the friendliest people we have encountered and are always willing to lend a hand and teach someone how to catch the fish of their dreams.

What makes this house unique

We have some of the best tasting pure spring water on the planet. Our spring was the water supply for Cooper Landing for many years. Pipped straight into the house it is fantastic. We are only 15 minutes from the world famous Kenai-Russian River confluence. There are numerous rafting companies within 5 miles of the house and guide services as well. We are only 50 min from Seward and 2 hrs from Anchorage. There are many hiking trails within minutes of the house as well. The Russian River Falls is an easy hike for bear viewing. Golf is only 45 minutes away in Soldotna.

Incredible Beauty

  • 5 of 5

This place is a treasure! I couldn't make up my mind which views were more spectacular, the one looking out the front at a jagged mountain peak or the one looking out the back at the Kenai river. The location of this property is outstanding. While I was still unpacking, I watched someone catch a rainbow trout a few feet from the shoreline. I was able to match that feat from the bank of the property which was loads of fun. It is easy to get to the Russian River (5 minutes or so) which is great for sockeye fishing. The house itself has a spectacular master bedroom with private sitting area, bath, and balcony. It can be bright in the summer, so pack some eye-shades to sleep at night. The two other bedrooms upstairs are nice and you can open a window and hear the river which is great sleep therapy. The downstairs bedroom is small and only has room for a bunk-bed. We didn't use it but I think it is probably suited for kids more than full-sized adults. The kitchen is well-stocked and the furniture is all clean and comfortable. The satellite for the TV was out while we were there, but I didn't care. Watching TV would have been sacrilegious when nature in all its glory was all around you. The wireless was great though as we could easily Facetime friends and family and brag about the day's catch.

The house is not new, and there are places where I wish there were more or bigger windows to expose the views. But that doesn't matter much because it was easy enough to just go outside. I think I ate every meal in the gazebo which was always free of mosquitoes. There are two large freezers in the garage to deep freeze your catch so you can bring it home.

The owner, Rick, is friendly and easy to deal with and the on-site property care-taker is likewise and she checked in on us a couple times. Overall, this was a great VRBO experience and I will definitely reuse in any future fishing trips to the Kenai.

secluded home away from home on the kenai river

  • 5 of 5

my son, nephew, brother in law and myself rented this home for a week in mid september of 2012 as a base while fishing with alaska river adventures guide service. the home is large and everyone had their own bedroom. we did not have to take as many clothes with us because there was a washer and dryer on location. the view is great and the place is secluded and on the river. we spent most of our time in the evenings enjoying the use of the kitchen and family room with the fireplace blazing. the owner was easy to talk to and gave me tips on what to expect and where to do while there.

Notes:
there is a great little zip line in the back yard that the kids love, Me too. Great trout fishing in your back yard right from the bank. The Kenai/Russian River confluence is a must for combat fishing for Sockeye (Red Salmon) in the spring and summer. Silver Salmon and Rainbow Trout fishing are great mid August thru early October. Hiking trails are local and range from flat easy to mountain rough and from short to long. The bird watching can be great and there many Swallow boxes in the back and side yard. Seward is about 45-50 min away for great deep-sea fishing, whale watching and glacier viewing. There are a number of places to eat ranging from fine dinning to pizza/burger places. We provide our guest with an activities list whit where, how, and who to deal with including river and sea guides we know to be the best. Overall the beauty of this mountainous place is breath taking and one of a lifetime memory.
