Overview

Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday villa in Atlantida - Casa de Playa--Rio Coto, Omoa

Villa, 5 Bedrooms, 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10-15)

Telephone: 011-504-9666-8526

PLEASE NOTE: THE RATE IS $100 PER ROOM PER NIGHT OR $500 PER NIGHT FOR THE ENTIRE HOUSE. IT IS NOT $100 PER NIGHT FOR THE ENTIRE HOUSE.

Huge (4,500 square feet) 2-story, 5 bedroom, private villa (NOT a shared house or space) with large pool (including pool bar), party deck, grill room, gazebo, veranda overlooking the ocean, porch and private beach. It's your own private resort.

Awaken to the taste of fresh Central American coffee as you watch the sun rise over the Caribbean, watching birds migrate north for the day while you sit on the veranda. Take a wake-up dip in the ocean and watch schools of small fish leap out of the water right by you. Gaze upon nearby mountains as you laze in the ocean or do your morning laps.

In the afternoon, make the tough choice as to whether to sleep in a hammock or a 5-minute drive to the colonial resort town of Omoa for pina coladas and just-caught fish for lunch. Take a family or group day trip to 3,000 year old Mayan ruins (las Ruinas de Copan—the Copan Ruins) or go fishing and snorkeling in the Keys of Belize (los cayos de Belize).

Or, just sit by the pool or beach all day and do absolutely nothing.

We also now offer the option of spending a day at a working chicken farm in the country, where you can pick your own fresh fruit and flowers, enjoy a fresh chicken roasted in a clay oven, and relax in a pool filled with THERMAL WATERS.

Welcome to your Honduras.

Honduras is about 2 hours from Miami.

Flat rate of $100 per room per night.

Airport code SAP.

About Louis

I'm an American ex-pat and native New Yorker.

Louis purchased this villa in 2007

Why Louis chose Honduras

This section of Omoa Bay is and exclusive. Only the 10 or so property owners have access to the half mile strip of beach. As a result, the beach is nearly empty 95% of the time, even on weekends. The water is usually calm, and the occasional surf is great for playing near the shore.

What makes this villa unique

The resort town of Omoa is about 3 minutes by car. Depending on the season you will see all types of marine life as you play in the ocean.

Extremely Bad Beach Villa

  • 1 of 5

I can't recommend staying here. There are just way too many issues with the house and the owner. Our stay got off to a pretty bad start and got worse.

- First of all, the house and yard were full of beer cans and liquor bottles when we arrived. We had to clean it up.

- Then we figured out that the fridge was not working. They had a thermometer there and the fridge never got below 60 degrees. We called the owners but they told us we would be fine the entire 8 days without a fridge. After two days of arguing they brought us the filthiest old fridge I have seen, refused to clean it and left it there. After 24 hours we measured the temp again and this one was worse then the first one. Then a day later they finally brought us a brand new fridge. So we basically went 3-4 days without a fridge during our stay and had to toss a lot of food.

- We had 10 people staying in the house and literally, there were only: 4 spoons and 9 forks -- all of which were cheap and crappy. We had a total of 10 bath towels, and no hand towels. It took them two days to bring more out to us.

- The house is located right on a major highway with a lot of really loud trucks passing by at all hours.

- The beach is little covered with garbage all over the place. And garbage is floating in the water everywhere.

- The A/C is only in the bedrooms, not the entire house.

- The power goes out frequently -- sometimes all night -- and there is no backup power.

- Yes, there is a washing machine, but it literally takes over an hour to just fill up with water. There is no dryer.

- One of the bathrooms has an exposed electrical box over the sink with wires sticking out.

- Beds are really bad. Rock hard mattresses. Polyester blankets. No headboards.

- Kitchen supplies and equipment are worse than you would find at a crappy garage sale.

- House is pretty dirty.

- Only one night stand in all the rooms and only one lamp.

- The neighbors are extremely loud. They blasted music all day one day for 12+ hours straight.

I could go on and on. I wasn't looking for a first-world experience, but I did expect the owners to be more responsive. And for the price I expected a much nicer place. Louis didn't even pick us up for the return to the airport as promised. In the end, Louis did offer us three nights free on our next stay, but would not do a partial refund. We are never going back there, but he did let someone we know in Honduras use the 3 nights.

Your own tropical villa for Rest and Relaxation.

From the moment that we arrived at the airport, we were pleasantly welcomed by Louis. He drove us to the Beach Villa, and in that time he gave us tips about the area and showed us highlights on where to visit and eat. As a first time visitor to Honduras, this was very reassuring and a great value. The Beach Villa is everything we could have hoped for. The pool is large and always kept clean by Carlos, the live in housekeeper. He was very attentive but also gave us the sense of privacy. We were practically the only ones on the beach during the week, and the water was perfect for swimming. Our favorite place to eat was walking distance on the beach, very friendly, affordable and delicious! With the convenience of renting the property vehicle, we would occasionally venture out to the neighboring towns, Omoa and Puerto Cortes. We would always made sure to keep plenty of time to enjoy the villa's amenities. Louis was kind to drive us back to the airport and asked for our opinion on any improvements. We could not think of one!!! Thank you Louis for a memorable vacation to beautiful Honduras!!!

Everything promised, and just as we had hoped for

  • 5 of 5

I had been to look at this home last February because you can't be sure with VRBO that the pictures will match the place. Well, the pictures did match and we went ahead. Our son lives in Honduras so this year we went to visit him for Christmas. From the moment we arrived at the airport Louis was a great host. Ready and waiting with a big smile and a helping hand.

We went by his home to pick up our cook/maid for the week, Johanna, and proceeded to the vacation home. Hmm, how to relax first? Pool, ocean, sit on one of the 3 decks in the breeze, lay in one of the 5 hammocks,...? Tough choices folks so each of the four of us decided to take a different track because we could do so without interfering with the others. That is kind of how the whole week went. Nice, eh?

Johanna, our cook and Carlos, the yard and pool keeper where wonderful. We had the blessing of our son who speaks fluent Spanish being the to help. We used his talents when we drove 30 minutes into Guatemala for a day too. The Spanish Fort in Omoa was a real pleasant surprise. Pay the $7.50 to get the guide so you can hear all the stories. We had one time that we lost water, but I let Carlos know and within a couple minutes we were up and running again, no problemo. Carlos also fishes many mornings/evenings and one night he cooked our fish on the outside hearth, then followed up by making a great bonfire on the star lit beach.

We paid extra to have Johanna be there to cook and clean for us, and it was well worth it. She stayed in one of the rooms. She made wonderful fresh meals three times a day and kept the place neat and out cloths clean. We also paid to use Louis' car for most the week. That allowed to get many places, even though we never made it to the nearby Nature Park with zip lines, waterfalls, ......I guess we were just too busy relaxing.

You will not find a better value folks. Wonderful secure and clean home with plenty to do on an almost private beach with soft winds and happy people. Great for taking your family. Go ahead, email Louis and get your trip planned.

Amazing House, wonderful people, beautiful Country, and all around amazing place

  • 5 of 5

Wow, what a wonderful Vacation in an incredible beach house in one of the friendliest and most beautiful places we have ever been. Thank you Mariela, Louis and your entire family for letting us stay in your beautiful beach house. And a special thanks to Carlos for your attentiveness and great care of the pool, landscape, beach, etc. From the moment we arrived in Honduras, we knew this was going to be a special vacation. Louis met us at the airport, helped us with our luggage and away we went to toward the beach house. We made a quick stop at Louis family house on the way to enjoy a delicious Baleada and of course, some ice cold, local beer. Louis and Mariela’s family is wonderful and were very welcoming. The roads in Honduras were surprisingly good. I am a seasoned traveller and have driven in many different Caribbean countries and have to say that Honduras has the best roads I have ever driven on. Of course, driving there is different than in the United States. When we arrived at the beach house, Carlos, the resident caretaker, quickly grabbed our luggage and carried it to our room. The rental house is beautiful and the pool and beach area is incredible as well. During the week, you have the beach to yourself, and on the weekends, you might have two or three other families that you might see on the very large-semi-private beach in front of the house. The ocean water is very warm, the mountains in the background were beautiful, and the proximity of the house to the many sites in the area is great. There are many small markets to buy the necessities in Omoa, with a larger supermarket in Puerto Cortes, only a few miles away. We went to the Zapotilla Cayes (Sapodilla Cays), Fortaleza San Fernando, San Ignacio Eco Park, Copan Mayan Ruins, and Rawacala Nature Reserve and Zip line, as well as explored many of the various beaches up the coast. I always felt very safe and the people were extremely friendly and welcoming wherever we went. We spent many days at the various Restaurant/Bars on the waterfront in Omoa and always felt very safe. I have been too many different rental houses in many different countries and the rental house in Omoa (Rio Coto) is one of the best we have stayed at.

Great Thanksgiving vacation!!

  • 5 of 5

I spent 5 fantastic days at the beach house. Plenty of sun & fun. The home was all it stated and more. The amenities were awesome and the houseman Miguel was great. Lying on the beach or at poolside he would bring us fresh coconut water in the coconut that he had taken form the trees on the beach.

The bedrooms are fantastic and getting into town was easy. About a 30 minute walk and you're in the center of town with restaurants, groceries and shopping. And if you can't go Miguel is happy to oblige - he makes great barbecues too!!
