Great fishing and crabbing

  • 5 of 5

At low tide it is just a mud flat, but at high tide the fishing is great, caught sharks, red fish, sea trout, flounder, sting rays and catfish. While I fished my wife caught dozens of blue crabs with a chicken wing in a basket. The cottage itself was clean and comfortable set up for fishing, it got my wife's approval which is all that mattered. Alligator point is remote which is what we were looking for. We never made it to the beach it was too much fun just hanging out on the dock.

Affordable accomodations with a touch of home!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at Redfish Cottage and it was really nice. We had my wife, daughter and her 3 children and they all didn't want to leave when the time came. Inside the cottage is clean has wifi, cable and comfortable places to relax. The kitchen area has all you need to make home cooked meals with a stove, microwave, coffee pot, toaster and a dishwasher for cleanup. The double stack washer dryer sits right there too and you can multi task your chores. AC in both bedrooms and the family room are cold (nice!)The fishing dock is absolutely awesome! We did short drives to area attractions. Gulf Specimen Aquarium in Panacea and Wakula Springs State park are easy drives and a must see. Walmart Superstore is12 miles away and has it all, but Crum's in Panacea also has lots and prices are fair. Make sure you plan on bug spay the no-see-ums can be tough and this is on the wild side so paying attention to your surroundings in FL is always wise as there is nature nearby (bears, reptiles etc) Overall a wonderful scenic, quiet experience close to miles of beautiful beaches. There are two free parking access sites to the beaches as you go out onto Alligator Point with walkway or you can go to Baldpoint State Park which has a small fee for parking. Thank you Joe Fejes for a great vacation!

Great Stay Again!

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed at Redfish cottage several times and love it! Joe is the best guy to rent from and wants you to have a good time. Everything you need is there. It is a fishing cottage and is described as such. With that being said, you are on the 0cean with a dock for a low price tag. It has what you need for a nice stay! I went there to fish and I did that off the dock and out in the kayaks. We also waded out on a nearby sandbar and caught fish also!

very private getaway

  • 5 of 5

we stayed for 5 days, it was awesome, this is not a resort it is private, what you see is what you get, we loved it, we saw 1 other person from the house and heard one person call his dog, never talked to anyone around the house, there was just no one around. made the stay great. was able to catch fish and crab everyday from the dock behind the house, eat fresh seafood for supper every day. we will go back it was just an awesome get away. Joe the owner even called to make sure we made it safe, it says a lot about the owner. looking forward to going back.

We had a great stay

  • 4 of 5

This is the place for an adventurous family. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped with only a couple of minor issues. It was secluded and quiet, but close to beaches. We have a 6, 9, and 14 year old and they all had a lot of fun. The two kayaks worked great, we caught and ate several blue crabs with Joe's crab trap and even picked our own oysters from the nearby oyster beds. Lots of wildlife in the area and the fishing was great (redfish, trout, flounder, even a bonnethead shark!) Alligator point has some nice ocean-side beaches and the north end of Bald Point State Park is a great bay (calmer water) beach with fishing and lots of hermit crabs to find. Don't forget to find the Gulf Specimen Aquarium and the Wakulla Springs State Park on your trip - neither will disappoint you.

Last thing - this place is a CABIN. If you are expect a 5 star condo with granite countertops and new everything, this is not the place for you. This is a place for those of us who like to get up close nature, not watch it from the balcony.
