Great location!

Perfect location to visit all the museums and monuments around D.C. Clean house, well-maintained, great kitchen. Off street parking was a plus.

Great Find!

  • 4 of 5

I rented the Smithsonian House for our yearly girls' trip which was 6 women this year. We always enjoy staying in a home together rather than a hotel which is also less expensive. And this year was a good one! The location is the best. The neighborhood is nice and you are safe walking day or night. The best is you have a parking space included. Priceless! We never moved our car. If we couldn't walk, we Ubered. It is minutes to walk to the National Mall with all the museums, monument, Capitol, etc. The Hop On Hop Off bus is walking distance from the house and highly recommended. In the other direction is the waterfront with fun restaurant/bars like the Cantina Marina. The house was roomy and very comfortable for all 6 of us. We also had a few ladies who couldn't spend the weekend, visit with us for a day and there was more than enough room to visit. The house was clean and the owner Wavely was only a phone call away for whatever questions you may have. We ate at restaurants while we were there so not sure about the kitchen cooking stock. Keep in mind, however, this is an older town home renovated so there are some tell tale signs of the age. However we look forward to returning to Smithsonian House the next time we are in DC.

Great location! Close to everything. Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

From the beginning to the end of our stay, Wavely made himself available to assist with any questions we had. Location of home is terrific! Walking distance to grocery shopping, water, and all D.C. has to offer! Our vacation was wonderful and the Smithsonian Vacation House made for many good memories.

Great spot for a family vacation in DC

  • 5 of 5

Mine and my brother's families from different areas down south met here for our first DC vacation. The property was nice and comfortable. The rental owner was very helpful, and the location was unbeatable. We walked to every point of interest on or near the mall including restaurants. If hours of walking to all the monuments and museums isn't your thing, using Uber to get back and forth is surpisingly fast and affordable from here. The experience of the city from this spot is terrific.

6 of us traveled to DC for granddaughter's wedding which unfortunately ended up being a very cold day. We arrived on Thursday night and it wasn't too cold and was able to get settled. The location is wonderful. Very convenient to everything, especially Navy Yard area and Nats Stadium. We were running around during the day on Friday and the owner sent maintenance man, Silva, over to replace some light bulbs. When we returned from the rehearsal dinner on Friday night, the temperature had dropped outside and the inside of the house was freezing. Called because heat wouldn't come on. Silva immediately came over to try and remedy the situation. He was awesome and did everything he could but ultimately the unit needed to be replaced and since it was the weekend that wasn't going to happen while we were there. They brought in space heaters so we were very warm in the bedrooms even though the downstairs was still very cold. The wedding was Saturday afternoon so again we weren't in the house much until bedtime. We left Sunday morning. Even though we had major issues, the response by Silva to try and resolve things was over and above. It was just too far out of his control.

Owner's Response: We strive to provide our guest with the - Best Washingtonian Experience. Unfortunately, the universal AC/Heater had failed on a Friday and the piece required for repair wouldn't arrive and repaired until Monday. As we do with all of our guest, we insured that the best of the situation for our guest. We hope they will consider us in there future travels!

We had a great time!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed the property and it's roominess. It fit seven nicely. We were very close to the grocery & restaurants plus it was great to have a private parking spot. My only suggestion would be to take out the window air conditioning unit since it was winter.
