Looking for the perfect family experience in the French Rivieira?

Located in lovely Opio, L'Alealice is a beautiful house built in the pure Provencal tradition and surrounded by large pine trees. Sleeping up to 8 people comfortably, the house is within 10-30 minutes from Grasse, Antibes, beaches, Cannes, Nice airport and nearest ski station. L'Alealice comes with very nice landscapes, a gorgeous swimming pool and multiple sun terraces. Very well organized, the house offers a fully equipped kitchen, a large living area with a built-in fireplace and comes ready with TV, multi-zone Blu-ray/DVD, HiFi, high speed internet access connection, washing and drying machines. L'Alealice is the perfect spot for up to two families with young children looking to relax and 'recharge the batteries' while discovering the Provence.

Opio (Pop.: 1.947 h. Surface : 947 ha): In a 'protected' site, in the middle of a marvelous Mediterranean environment - olive trees, pines, cork oaks, arbutus trees, heather - stands the minuscule perched village of Opio. Thanks to an exceptional micro-climate, roses and jasmine are cultivated here for the Grasse perfume industry, while the Grande Bastide olive grove, one of the largest in the 'département', produces a delicious olive oil that you can buy at the Opio olive oil mill, one of the few such mills still operating in the region. It dates back to the 15th century.

Opio and its Golf courses: Golf lovers will be served in Opio. Three golf courses are at their disposal: the beautiful Golf d'Opio Valbonne, the stunning Golf de la Grande Bastide and finally the Golf managed by the Club Med nearby. All three golf courses are literally minutes away from the house.

About Remi El-ouazzane

We are a family of four living in San Francisco. My wife and I are both French. We both work in the high tech industry in Silicon Valley. We love coming back to Opio for our vacation.

Remi El-ouazzane purchased this villa in 2006

Why Remi El-ouazzane chose Opio

We discovered the Nice area back country when we stationed there between 2005 and 2007 for work related reasons. We felt in love with the village of Opio. We go back there every year !

What makes this villa unique

The house is uniquely positioned in the woods of Opio. This is such a quiet place, right in the middle of the nature but still very close to the big cities like Nice, Cannes or Antibes. The Opio city council is very strict when it comes to giving building permits which is something we care a lot about.

Relaxing stay in a beautiful surround

  • 5 of 5

Our family took a week's holiday over the UK half-term break at the end of May/early June. There are 4 of us including a 2 year old boy and 5 year old girl. We wanted somewhere where the kids could get in the pool and learn to swim whilst at the same time having a relaxing holiday in a quiet and tranquil place. We certainly found that here. The area is wonderful. Opio itself is a very small village and the villa is located close by. The villa is remote and peaceful and it is not overlooked. It also has a good amount of land. The pool is a wonderful size and great for young kids. It is not heated but we didn't find that a problem for us even in late May (temp whilst we were there hovered around 24 celsius). The villa itself has a large living room and outside space on 2 sides where meals can be taken on the veranda. The villa can easily take 2 families as it has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs that we didn't ever use.In terms of amenities there is a casino/supermarket which is a ten minute drive away (you could walk there if feeling particularly energetic, which we were not.) It has everything you could possibly need (it is a very large supermarket). There are plenty of things to do in the area. Cannes/Antibes/Nice are all a short drive away, as is St Paul de Vence. There are also lots of nice restaurants within 20 minute driven the market and restaurants in Valbonne are not to be missed. Overall we had a fantastic week and would highly recommend.

Macaroon Holiday

  • 5 of 5

The Opio region is authentic France at its best with its romantic pathways, small towns lined with cobblestone streets, and restaurants that make your taste buds come back to life. The home was clean and full of the charm that you expect when leaving the fast pasted life in Oakland-San Francisco/California. If you have ever watch the movie “Under the Tuscan Sun”, then this place would be called “Under the Opio Sun”. We spent most our time sitting by the lightly salted, salt water pool enjoying the Mediterranean sun savoring local cheeses, sparkling wine, and fresh baked croissants. If we ever felt the need to leave the house, we were a short distance from Cannes, Nice, and Monte Carlo, Monaco. Hint/Hint: take the train to Monaco.

For dinner when we didn’t want to cook-in, we would take the kids and drive to the town of “Valbonne” and have dinner in the open air of the City Square and let the kids run around and eat ice-cream and mingle with the other children watching the entertainment of the night.

The house is close to food shopping and wonderful little bakeries that can easily cast-a-spell on you. The grocery store is about 8 minutes away and it’s called Cassino and it has nothing to do with gambling casinos, it’s just the name. Every morning I would drive down to the bakery and pickup warm fresh baked bread and croissants for breakfast and something sweet like Macaroons for later-on in day by the pool.

If you’re looking for a place to unwind, relax, and become a part of the place you are vacationing in. Then this is the place you are looking for. You can forget about all the work related issues back home and step out of the Rat-Race for moment, and realize that its moments like this that remind you the world is beautiful place.

Perfect for our family

  • 5 of 5

We (2 adults, 4 children, 1 baby) had a wonderful time at this well-maintained property. Big garden for the children to play, well equipped kitchen, nice swimming pool, very quiet but shops/bakery within reasonable driving distance, washing machine, dish washer, all a family needs.

And an additional plus is the owner, Remi. He is very helpful and kind person of integrity. Thank you very much for this wonderful vacation!
