The Casa Gato is located in the quiet, mainly inhabited by locals Llano Campo in Hermigua. Through the Barranco a short walk leads down to the sea.

Hermigua

The valley of Hermigua stretches over a length of about 7 kilometers, the national park at the back, down to the sea. Nearly 2000 inhabitants are spread over 20 small hamlets, which are scattered on the slope to the left and right of the valley.

Since part of the National Park and the hamlet El Cedro belong to the municipality, Hermigua is fed year round by the small river "Rio del Cedro" and is therefore the richest and greenest valley of the island.

Hermigua still lives mainly on agriculture - the mostly sunny terraces are planted with bananas, avocados, papayas, mangos and vegetables, which can be harvested up to three times a year.[Nbsp]

In addition to agriculture, soft, sustainable tourism has developed here in recent years. The guests are usually housed in a so-called "Casa rural" (country house), a corresponding apartment or apartment individually.[Nbsp]

In the upper valley, just after the entrance, there is a small supermarket and a very good restaurant, the "Las Chacaras". A little further down is the supermarket "Hermigua", where you get fresh, good fruits and vegetables.

The main business life takes place in the lower valley, in the immediate vicinity of the main road. Here you will find two bakeries, supermarket, several banks with ATM, tourist information, a small fitness center of the community is accessible to all, pharmacy, medical center, gas station and much more.[Nbsp]

Cafés, bars and restaurants are also all to be found in the vicinity of the main street. For fish lovers, the "El Faro" is definitely recommended, the "Telemaco" at the yellow church offers a good card and occasionally live music. Also the terrace café [&] Tapabar "Pedro" offers from the morning Bocadillo (baguette sandwiches), good cake and tapas everything your heart desires and also occasionally live music.

Hermigua is a very beautiful and diverse hiking area - from the National Park "Garajonay", El Cedro down to the Playa de la Caleta and further, as well as over to the neighboring valley of Los Aceviños and La Palmita offers this hiker a lot of variety in varying degrees of difficulty. The pleasant climate here in the northeast offers very good conditions for hiking all year round.

In the winter months, the Atlantic is usually much too rough and stormy for swimming. This impressive spectacle is better enjoyed from the beach. The nearest beach is in nearby San Sebastían, the journey takes less than half an hour.[Nbsp]

In the summer months, that's different - then a swim in the Playa de la Caleta or in the pool of the former loading station, the current natural swimming pool, the "Pescante" a wonderful pleasure.

Bus stops are at intervals everywhere on the main road, the bus line 2 runs between San Sebastían and Vallehermoso 4x daily and in both directions. To get to the south side, you first have to go to San Sebastían and change there.
