SAND, SUN, OCEAN and FUN at the BEACH.
Welcome to 'Hale Lokahi', where the only thing between the lanai and the ocean is the long sandy beach that seems to go for miles. The covered oceanfront lanai runs the full width of the house, so you have a front row seat from which to view sizzling sunsets over the ocean towards the island of Niihau. There are very few actual beachfront houses on the Westside, as most have a road between the house and the ocean. BUT NOT HERE!
You can walk to anything and everything from this location. The Waimea River is just short walk away offering fishing and kayaking opportunities. In less than 5 minutes, you can walk to either of the large grocery stores in Waimea, several restaurants and shops, or take in a movie at the Historic Waimea Theater. Walk in the footsteps of Captain Cook, where he came ashore in 1778 as the first Westerner to come to Hawaii. This is old Hawaii and far from the tourist crowds. Quiet and peaceful with the dry sunny climate that guarantees you the best weather for your vacation.
This lovely “beach cottage” belongs to one of the older families of Kauai. Until recently, it was used exclusively by their large family as a place to get together and enjoy the beach. Newly renovated, they have opened up their home to share with a few lucky vacationers. This may be just the place you have been looking for.
This one story cottage sits on a large oceanfront lot and offers 3 bedrooms, two of which are Oceanside, and all 3 have a/c. There are three full baths, so no one has to wait to get ready to enjoy the day. Life here is meant to be lazy and enjoyed. Take a long walk on the beach, sit in the shade of the covered lanai, or just enjoy a good book waiting for one of those fabulous Westside sunsets. Because we face westward, this is the only part of the island that has a sunset view over the ocean, and what a view this is. This house is spacious enough for 3 couples, a large family, or a couple celebrating their wedding with a wonderful honeymoon. There is a large kitchen, fully equipped to make a gourmet meal at home served at your own private ocean-side table. All the furniture and bedding is new along with an updated kitchen and baths. It’s not likely that you will have a rainy day here on the Westside, but if you want to catch one of those morning football games or watch a movie, you have a new 40'' flat screen LCD television complete with 'High Definition' Cable service! We also have a blu-Ray/DVD player, stereo system with CD and ipod dock, and of course, wireless Internet so you can stay stay connected.
So what are you waiting for? If you have the time, we have the perfect place for your vacation.

My husband and I spent a week at Hale Lokahi for Thanksgiving 2010 after a few days on the Big Island. I am a sunset fanatic and took photos of sunset from just about everywhere on Kauai. The best ones by far (including those taken from the Napali Coast Sunset Boat Tour) were the ones taken right off the lanai at Hale Lokahi.
We were a bit worried that there would not be enough snorkeling or activities to occupy a week on Kauai but we could not have been more wrong.
This island is heaven on earth.
The house in Waimea was the perfect respite away from the traffic and activity of the the rest of the world - even though we drove to the North Shore 3 times during the week, we were glad to come 'home' to a clean, comfortable, restful spot that had exactly what you want on a good beach vacation - no more, no less.
The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare the food we got at the Times Market and Farmers Markets. The laundry room off the garage with the giant sink was perfect for all of our 'red dirt' concerns. The beach gear (towels, chairs, cooler, and mats) let us relax and not have to run around looking for convenienece items. The living room with entertainment system, map, and ultimate Kauai guide felt just like our living room in Austin, Texas.
Best of our entire vacation was sleeping 30 feet from the rolling surf every night.
I had to roll video to make sure we captured that sound to take home with us for restless nights back in Texas.
Thank you Chad for letting us stay at Hale Lokahi for our best vacation yet!
My Fiance' and I spent six wonderful days at Hale Lokahi. First of all the home is very well appointed with pretty much everything you need from the kitchen to linens, beach toys, gas grill etc... It was very clean and is well maintained. The ocean is your "backyard". The weather was beautiful while we were there and we only used the air conditioner in the bedroom twice. We did a lot of sightseeing around the island but were always excited to get back to the house to relax. There is a fantastic lanai along the back of the house where you can enjoy incredible sunsets every evening. We ate out only a couple of times while we were there as we enjoyed cooking on the grill and dining on the lanai with that incredible view. In fact we did not eat a single meal inside at the table! The town of Waimea is so charming and we really enjoyed the experience of staying where you get an idea of real Kauai life. The waves are rather rough on this beach but there are plenty of places close by you can drive to if you want to swim. The rental process was easy and Chad is wonderful to work with. I hope we can return to Kauai again soon. I would definitely stay here again!!
I had the great good fortune to celebrate my birthday on Kauai with three wonderful friends. This house was a fantastic base camp for all of our activities on this trip. Mornings always started out slowly, sipping our coffee and enjoying the beautiful view from the lanai or strolling on the beach just a few steps away. The kitchen is very well equipped and there's a treasure trove of toys and equipment for the beach in the garage, and plenty of beach towels in the linen closet. The whole house is attractive, clean and comfortable, and conveniently located. There are a couple of grocery stores within walking distance, and the road to Waimea Canyon is nearby. After a day at one of the beaches and/or exploring the rest of the island, it's great to go to sleep listening to the ocean. I'd love to go back some day.
We have rented probably a dozen different "homes" on Kaua'i. Talk about a wonderful home on the beach, that has the Pacific Ocean as your backyard. The house is so well appointed with paper towels, toilet paper, zip lock baggies, cooking spices, and a set of everying a cook needs in the kitchen. The home has beach towels, beach chairs, fins, bogie boards, ice chest, sunscreen.............! There are two grocery stores that are a three minute walk from the house if you walk slow. The town of Waimea is small, quiet, and peaceful. Waimea has several good restaurants and places to just grab a snack. To enjoy this house all you need is a bathing suit. One of the best things about this house is the covered lani, it is the entire length of the house. The lani is perfect for coffee in the morning and watching the sunset with a glass of wine. The only drawback is having to go home!
We started every day by taking coffee out the back door walking just a few steps and sitting on the beach at our own private view of the ocean. It's priceless we started every day by taking coffee out the back door walking just a few steps and sitting on the beach at our own private view of the ocean. It's priceless to have this sandy stretch of beach and beautiful view right outside the back door of this great home. We also love living amongst the locals and not having to fight the tourist crowd. The house has everything you could possibly need and just clean and comfortable. Wish we could make it an annual trip to this house every year . We had six adults in this home and were very comfortable. Eat dinner out on the lanai every night.
House even had snorkel boogie boards chairs everything you could need to take to the popular snorkel beaches. You cannot swim at the beach outside the house because of the current but it's well worth it to hear the ocean every night and to be able to start your day with a beautiful sunrise and a beautiful sunset over the ocean. Great whale watching also. Chad is wonderful to work with ad well.
My family have stayed at Hale Lokahi for the past five summers. This is a great getaway home, which is why we keep returning. We love the sunsets, morning beach walks, visits to Ishihara's for poke and fresh shrimp to barbecue on Hale Lokahi's deck, shaved ice from Jojo's, puka dogs at the park, a Sweet Lomi massage with Stacey, planning which beach to hang out for the day (Kekaha, Salt Pond, Polihale, Makewehi, or Ke'e for al all day adventure). We love the laid back feeling of Waimea, and staying at Hale Lokahi lets us feel like locals. The house has all you need to feel at home after a day's adventure, from a fully equipped kitchen with condiments, spices, dried and canned goods; beach chairs, umbrellas, towels & toys; chaise lounges and patio furniture for your morning breakfast or evening dinners; comfortable beds to enjoy while you are lulled to sleep by the waves just outside the house. This is our favorite VRBO getaway, which is why we keep returning!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hale Lokahi in Waimea, Kauai. The house easily accommodated the four of us and had anything you would need while vacationing. We spent most of our time on the deck whale watching or enjoying the beautiful sunsets. Waimea is a quaint smal town with two groceries, a couple restaurants, and an ice cream shop within a block or two from the house. Would recommend these accommodations to anyone.
