Vumba has unique conditions that offer our guests the quiet enjoyment of a true rural experience.
The renovation of our old winery has resulted in two independent and stylishly furnished rooms (the Bue Maria suite and the Gorongosa suite), reminiscent of our family's Mozambican heritage. The suites are ideal for couples.
Our tourism consists of three cozy inns (Alambique, House of the Lizard and House of the Owl) and two elegant suites (Bue Maria and Gorongoza). All houses and suites have access to a living room, with dining room and kitchen, and a swimming pool which is surrounded by a beautiful garden.
Our estate has several hiking trails and five idyllic ponds. Isolated from the outside world, here you will find the ideal combination of natural resources to enjoy nature in peace.
Our estate in the village of São Martinho da Cortiça, from which our grandparents came, consists of a 140-hectare estate with green pastures and charming groves.
five to ten organic cheese brand of Quinta do Carapinhal are produced by hand each day on our farm. The milk from which it is produced comes from our own herd of about 200 sheep of "Bordaleira Serra de Estrela" breed.
INTERACTION WITH GUESTS:
Most of the time we live on the farm and give our guests support. We await your questions, suggestions or needs at your fingertips; but otherwise we can enjoy your holidays in private and in peace.
Among other things, the following programs are available and can be ordered until 19 00 on the day before a picnic or sundowner at the pond, Farm Safari and a tour of the farm.
Vumba and its surroundings are a paradise for hikers and bikers. The beauty of the landscape is enhanced by the imposing mountains surrounding the region. On the horizon you can see in a full, uninterrupted 360 ° panoramic view of the Serra do Açor and Serra da Lousã, Serra do Buçaco and Caramulo.
The most famous landmark in the region is the village of Piódão, but there are many other sights that are virtually unknown, such as the Margaraça Forest, the Fronhas Dam and the Alva River, the best-kept flyfishing mystery in Europe. Outside the municipality, within 40 km, are the cities of Coimbra and Viseu, the historic and beautiful Buçaco mountains and the Luso thermal springs.
