Location, location, location … Our family of 3 has just returned from the most memorable trip to St. Petersburg. The wonderful experience started with the decision to rent an apartment downtown St. Petersburg. All the major sites are within walking distance. The owner quickly replied with the confirmation. The subsequent communication with the owner was also prompt and clear. When we arrived, Natalia, the caretaker, waited for us in the apartment. Natalia made all the efforts to attend to the specific needs of our family. It was good to get Natalia's phone number in case we needed help or information. On the day of our departure, Natalia came to the apartment and arranged a taxi to the airport for us. The apartment is well equipped with everything necessary to make even an extended stay comfortable. There is a variety of cafes and restaurants in the area. Our only regret: the trip was too short. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone, who is planning a trip to St. Petersburg.
The best part was the location. Second best was the manger, Nastasha who spoke excellent English, met us outside of the apartment.(Door did not have the street number.) . She clued us in to everything nearby, showed us a map and was extremely helpful. We were able to walk to all the major attractions, plus there was a grocery store nearby to fill all our major needs including Russian vodka. The apartment was just as advertised.
We learned the hard way, not to leave windows open with the security alarm activated. We were greeted our first night out, when we came back from dinner, by 4 cops,(yes Uzis in hand.) They were at the apartment because the alarm was triggered. After 30 minutes, (seemed like hours),Natasha came to our rescue and solved the dilemma.
I would recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to see St Petersburg. Three of us stayed comfortably, but the apartment was large enough to accommodate more.
Big, beautiful apartment just a few blocks from Nevsky Prospekt and many historic sites. Nice neighborhood with many conveniences nearby. Clean, quiet, nice bathroom, functional kitchen, huge living room with windows overlooking the canal. We were very happy with the place and would have rated it 5 stars except for one situation. We had the windows open and a wind gust pushed the curtains into a floor lamp causing it to fall over, breaking the shade. This had nothing to do with us, strictly an "act of god". I did the right thing and pointed it out to the owner's representative at the end of our stay. She contacted the owner and we were informed that we would have $100 deducted from our damage deposit. I really feel that was an unfair and short-sighted response. Regardless, I highly recommend this property.
This apartment was entered using an existing key while we were gone, all our things rummaged through--and all our money (approx. $1000 cash) and my new iPad, iPhone, jewelry, and other items were stolen. Police were called and we spent 4 hours at the apartment with them and another 5 hours at the police station. Edward's agent, Natalya was extremely helpful and had the locks changed that evening. Edward has no insurance to cover this situation, and declined to reimburse for anything. Two days later, it appeared a similar situation was being set up and police were again called.
The apartment is spacious and we were quite pleased with the accommodations, but very unhappy with the break in and losing around $2,500 worth of money and items.
Location is perfect walking distance to main spb sights. Lots of good cheap restaurants and small supermarkets nearby. Did not have time to visit Bishops and Rockets craft beer cafe.
Apartment is on a grand scale giving a feel for a rich merchants life 200 years ago with furniture to match. Well equipped with all modern facilities. Very comfortable beds.
We enjoyed an early checkin with Natalya who carefully took time to explain everything to us in perfect English.
Highlight was Mariinsky ballet. We booked ahead. 15 minutes walk away. We also used Igor from Feelfree tours to visit places outside spb. His free tour is a great intoduction to spb.

While I realize I should start with comments about the apartment I want to first say how beautiful and interesting St Petersburg is. A great city. I appreciated Natalya's ( the owner's representative) kind and helpful reception and orientation. The location is great but do note that the distances are longer than anticipated by reviewing maps but still doable. I lost about 5 pounds with the walking. The Hermitage is about 15 minutes away - the Kazan Church about the same - the Church of the Spilled Blood about the same. Good restaurants in the immediate area including Mickey and Monkeys in the same building. A coupe of other recommended restaurants are the Idiot and Erivan. We were in the apartment for 12 days - felt at home. We made a nice breakfast every day at the apartment and then set off on our adventures. Small grocery stores open 24 hours were minutes away. A friend and his daughter (26 years old) from Germany spent 5 days with us and were very impressed with the apartment and the location. He had wanted to visit the Hermitage and the Russian Museum for years. We were able to have wonderful conversations in the apartment before and after our excursions. Great apartment, great location and one of the best cities in the world. I hope to return soon.
