About Libby Cameron
Our grandparents built the house in 1904. The entire family would come for the summer and my grandmother would stay until November for the duck shooting season, the house has 2 fireplaces but it must have been very cold as it is simply a summer cottage. The 4th generation is now using the house.
Libby Cameron purchased this House in 1904
What makes this House unique
Amazing views, seclusion, cozy, colorful, comfy and spacious house, built on the edge of a ledge within 12' of the water. The sea lulls you to sleep every night. Our family has multiple dogs-7 labradors so an enclosed area off the kitchen has just been built with a covered area for when we go out for the day so they don't destroy the house.

A GREAT STAY EXCEPT FOR ONE BIG PROBLEM
This is a unique property that can comfortably accommodate a large group, with multiple bedrooms, many real beds, a well-equipped kitchen and large dining room table. But what makes it really special is its private location with a SPECTACULAR view of the bay from the screened- in porch, open deck and from most rooms in the house. It is an older, historic home with some associated old-house traits – shortage of electrical outlets, creaky floorboards, lack of heating and air conditioning but there were some modern additions in the form of good WiFi, real cable TV and plenty of hot water. The lack of air conditioning was not an issue because the days were warm and the nights cool, as in typical of Maine, but might be a consideration during abnormally warm or cold weather.
So what was the big problem? We couldn’t get in the house! I had contacted the owner several days before our arrival to get the check in information and was informed that the house would be open after 3:30. We arrived right at 3:30 with a car full of perishable groceries, only to find the house locked. After waiting 15 minutes to see if anyone showed up with a key, I tried to open the VRBO app to get the owner’s phone number. Due to poor cell reception in the area, this was a real problem, but I finally got a phone number and was able to make a call to the owner – that went into voicemail! Fortunately, we were able to find a way into the house without the key, because the owner did not call back for three hours. With 8 family members arriving and groceries spoiling, not getting into the house close to on time would have put a real damper on the whole stay.
I don’t know why there was a mix-up on the check-in instructions, but the owner or an agent has to be available to resolve check-in problems promptly and efficiently. Other than that, we had a fantastic stay in a unique and wonderful home on a beautiful bay. But you’ve got to get into the house before you can have a good stay, so that’s why I am giving this property 4 stars rather than 5.
Fabulous Friendship Gathering Place!
We had a marvelous group of friends, and this home is perfect for just that sort of gathering. It’s large, with lots of bathrooms, large kitchen, eating and play areas. A very great place for our adult gathering AND playing charades ;)!!! We loved every minute and were so sad to leave. We will be back!
Oceanside Relaxation
Awesome location on Southport Island, away from the business of Boothbay, but close enough to run out for ice cream with the kids. The house is old, but well kept. Very comfortable for our party of 10.
Wonderfully authentic seaside retreat!
This home and its location was exactly what we were looking for: comfortable, with lovely views of the sea, and proximity to low key things to do and good local restaurants. It was so relaxing and peaceful there and the kitchen and rooms were well-equipped and so tastefully furnished. We hope to go back again!
Family Vacation
My husband, kids, and I travel to Maine every year and love it! His sister and her family and his parents went with us this year. The Cameron House was perfect in every way! We had plenty of room for 12 people. The house has the perfect Maine feel inside and out! We enjoyed cooking together, sitting on the porch, watching the lobsterman pull traps, putting together puzzles, amazing views, and the kids loved climbing on the rocks! It truly was a perfect house and location for our family vacation together! Libby was very quick to respond when asked a question, which was also a plus!
Perfect Holiday Weekend!
We feel incredibly fortunate to have found this coastal cottage for a last minute change of plans over Memorial Day Weekend. Libby's cottage has charm, coastal style, and the location (literally on the water) made this a memorable long weekend getaway.
Thank you for sharing your families gem!
