When you want PRIVACY, Villa Casa Blanca allows a completely private SANCTUARY just for you, your family and friends - and with the most amazing views stretching from the Cabo Blanco National Park to Samara Beach. Just a minute from the beaches and Santa Teresa.
You will have your private home without neighbors and with the most amazing vistas. Sunsets are magnificent as you sit in the pool or lounge on the terrace enjoy the end of the day. And then the stars! As we are not in Santa Teresa with all the lights, you can enjoy the amazing view of the celestial stars! This is privacy at it's best! And being next to Cabo Blanca National Park, you have the benefits of all that nature bring - monkeys, birds, ocelots, kinkajous, parakeets, toucans and so much more. It's like nature in your backyard.
See all the reviews from our guests - we are what we say and so much more! We provide first class services for our clients and tailor everything to their needs. If you want a chef, a massage at the house, yoga lessons at our yoga cabina, and much more, you just have to ask and we will arrange it all.
Casa Blanca is certainly one of the most desirable houses in Mal Pais/Santa Teresa:
Magnificent 22 meter infinity pool
Outdoor BBQ/Dining patio with Seating for 8 with Sunshade Umbrella.
Separate outdoor Covered Pool Patio with Sunshade Umbrella, benches and pool loungers.
Private Teak/Palm Thatched Massage/Yoga Cabin
and gardens throughout.....
Private Day Bed overlooking the Jungle with beautiful wind chimes.
Private Lower Nature Trail Seating area for great sunrise enjoyment or late afternoon privacy.
And yes, we have our own great WIFI throughout the Villa with Hi Speed Satellite Internet. So, we are not dependent on local connectivity.
And we cater to our clients by providing a Concierge Service that will arrange any and all needs during your stay. Davie and Lisbeth are an amazing team and part of our family. They will leave you in peace, arrange excursions, plan trips and more.
Whether you want to swim laps or just drift in the pool, you will enjoy the serenity and quiet Villa Casa Blanca has to offer.... and with the sound of nature at your doorstep.
Casa Blanca is a very modern two-story house with four spacious bedrooms (all with amazing views) and three exquisite, Italian-tiled bathrooms - all the modern conveniences and designer touches that make each room something very special.
This modern house is just a few minutes from the Mar Azul Beach perched on the hilltop allowing you total tranquility with the most breath-taking views of the Pacific Ocean. Walk up to the third story Roof Terrace (complete with mini-bar) where you can sit and watch the monkeys and reach up and touch the fluffy clouds gently flowing overhead - and at night pluck the stars from the sky.
The House: We were one of the featured houses for 2012 in Central/South America for the Best Design. We are very proud of our architects - Isobel and Rebecca! They've truly designed something that suits the area but is totally modern and spacious - wood floor in bedrooms to be soft on the foot to polished granite floors downstairs making it a very modern look.
The Area: Mal Pais has a wonderful private Swedish Beach nestled quietly next to the Cabo Blanca National Park Entrance. So, if you want to find that secluded beach, this is the place to go. But, there are many other beaches along the coast and each with it's own qualities: Playa Carmen, Playa Mar Azul, Playa Hermosa, Playa Santa Teresa, and Playa Manzanillo.
Just nearby is the Mal Pais Fishing Village where you can either get a boat and go fishing yourself or simply enjoy that catches of the day.... very fresh and tasty and the fishermen will prepare your fish for you.
There are plenty of local restaurants and grocery stores (about 6 - 8 pending season) to choose from. We also have an Organic Market every Saturday afternoon at Playa Carmen.
And of course the beaches are the best in Costa Rica (voted recently). Long, empty stretches of beaches with the best waves for beginners to intermediates. There are fantastic natural tide pools where you can relax and enjoy the warm waters of Costa Rica in peace.
The dining experience of the area ranges from typical Tico food to very special restaurants that serve a fantastic variety of cuisine. We can provide you with a complete list of restaurants in the area. It changes from season to season so be sure to ask the Caretaker (or us) for the latest and greatest.
Activities: You will find an endless amount of things to choose from: Surfing, Swimming, Yoga, Paddle Boarding, Massage, Tai Chai, Capoiera, Hiking in the National Park, Zip Lining above the Montezuma Waterfalls, cliff diving at the Waterfalls, Tortuga Island where you can snorkel and scuba dive, fishing (fantastic and amazing fish), and much, much more.
We work in the film industry between London and Los Angeles. Mal Pais attracted us after one visit. The peacefulness, the people, the ocean vistas, the long empty beaches... and the list goes on.
Mal Pais became the obvious choice to escape from work and enter into a paradise where one can reconnect with oneself and enjoy life without the daily stresses of living in a major city.
Michael Solinger and Juan Carlos Alvarez - Owners purchased this villa in 2008
The moment we stepped onto the 'plantel', we knew this was it. With amazing ocean vistas, cool breezes, located just next to the National Park. We wanted to find a location that wouldn't be overtaken by future developments, that would retain the beauty of the jungle, that would respect nature whilst building something eco-friendly.
We wanted to create an oasis of paradise with amazing vistas.... and to create a modern, clean home with simple use of concrete and glass (the sea element is harsh on buildings as are termites). So, we created a very clean and modern structure which emphasized the views of the Pacific Ocean and the Cabo Blanco National Park. Beyond that, we wanted to create a home for visitors that would offer all modern conveniences (screen doors, sealed rooms, air-con, modern appliances, fantastic lighting).... and a 22m Lap Pool to exercise, and a Massage/Yoga Cabina to escape. We extended the garden so that those who stay with us can escape to private areas and enjoy the sound of the waves, the sound of the jungle - and the many animals and birds.
Sun, sea, pool, views, beaches! What more :) This Villa give you complete tranquility with amazing vistas in your own private Paradise. It offers you a kitchen/dining environment overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It's a great place to cook, enjoy friends and views. There are many places on the grounds to escape to (Massage Cabina, Lower Garden, Private Jungle Garden, Nature Trail and more).
What a great experience thanks to Eduardo and his family. Too easy to live the real Pura Vida. Hard to go back! What else to say?
Big thanks Phil and Fred

What a great experience. Guillaume and Kellie
Villa Casa Blanca is gorgeous. It's immaculate, well furnished, tastefully decorated, perfectly maintained and it has the best view from the hills above Mal Pais that you can get. Just look at the pictures! Yet pictures don't do justice to the lovely sunsets, the sparkling sea, the long stretch of beach and the rich shades of jungle green that you see from Casa Blanca.
Seven of us showed up for a week at the end of June: three 50+ parents, two 25-year-old and two 18-year-old offspring. Davie and Liz, the caretakers who live a scant 5 minutes away were there to welcome us and to answer any questions we had about Casa Blanca and about the activities available in the Puntarenas area. It turns out that they keep the house clean and are available to provide excellent meals if you pay for the groceries. They were able to provide pretty much whatever we wanted such as ATV rentals, directions to (and the best times for) the best beaches and restaurants.
And there were some excellent restaurants in this out-of-the-way part of Puntarenas. The roads aren't paved and you need 4 wheel drive to get around, and there are jungle animals and birds all around, but there are hard-working Ticos (Costa Ricans) and ex-pats of numerous nationalities that give you an international choice of breakfast, lunch, dinner along with bars, water activities, jungle treks, horseback riding and lots of other good stuff.
Of course, you can choose to stay at Casa Blanca to eat, swim, listen to music, watch movies, watch hundreds of butterflies, a few iguanas, and gorgeous sunsets and seascapes. The house is equipped with all the conveniences of modern living.
One more thing. The owner Mike is a great guy. He seems willing to do whatever is needed to make sure that everything will go smoothly for his guests. He emailed us a complete brochure detailing schedules, directions, restaurants and the activities/attractions available in the Puntarenas peninsula. Although he was busy working in London, he made his phone number and email address available to us and was on call to make sure that nothing went wrong with our trip. He didn't have to do that. He's an extremely gracious person and I've never met a more accommodating property owner.
I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. You will find it very, very hard to leave Casa Blanca. I am really stoked on this place and will be back. I very highly recommend to you both the Villa and the Mal Pais/Santa Teresa area.
This was our second visit and stayed the same place. This time we rented the house for the whole month of August. Davie and his wife always there when you needed them. We are looking to go back next year again.
Thank you Mike!
We have stayed at Casablanca before and we are still in love with this beautiful home and the people that own it and the ones that manage this amazing property. From the moment you arrive to the sad day you leave you will create memories that will last forever. The owners are constantly improving the home. The caretakers are wonderful people that go out of their way to make your experience a perfect one, you would be hard pressed to find better people. Words could never express how pleased we were with this beautiful home and the people that run this. Thank you Mike, JC, Davie and Elizabeth. We will see you next year,
Scott & Rose Garner
Location was very peaceful and quite. Would return for another stay when possible. Location felt very safe and staff was quick to respond to questions and needs.
The house was exactly as represented -- beautiful and appointed perfectly in every way.
I would reiterate the warning about 4 wheel drive (especially in the rainy season) and would also suggest you budget to rent ATVs, they were much easier for getting up and down that hill.
The entire area is great, lots of great restaurants, beaches, yoga, etc.
It was a really great few days, and we were lucky that the weather generally held in for us -- we were really able to capitalize.
One thing to note -- and this may be different in the dry season -- everything in the house water system is solar. Since it was pretty overcast most of the time we were there, our showers were lukewarm at best. This is not a big deal, unless you are someone who has a thing about hot showers, like our middle son, who basically fought us on showering the whole time (yuck!) because he couldn't get the water hot enough to feel good to him.
My partner and I didn't have an issue -- it was hot enough during the days that to me, at least, the cooler water felt better anyway.
Thanks again, Michael, it was truly outstanding.
We chose Casa Blanca based on the beautiful photos and the glowing reviews, including the responsiveness of the owner, and having just returned I can say the house and staff exceeded our expectations in every way.
As two sisters traveling with our 4 teenagers we most likely relied on Davie more than most, in fact I'm sure we did given that one day he drove us to Montezuma, helped us hike up to the waterfall, and even jumped off the rocks with our teens in to the water.
There is so much to love about Costa Rica and Mal Pais, including the beauty, people, adventure and wildlife but this house and Davie and Lisbeth made the experience truly exceptional and our vacation a once in a lifetime experience.
When thinking about what we six will remember about this trip years from now it will be the views from the deck, eating the incredible meals Davie and Lisbeth cooked for us, Karaoke in the car with Davie, and the beautiful and friendly culture of Mal Pais.
A few tips, bring cash, have Davie and Lisbeth cook for you as often as you can, watch a sunset and view the stars from the upper deck and don't bring a lot to read as the views and surroundings are too exquisite and distracting, get a 4-wheel drive, everything you hear about the roads are true, they are bad, and take a lot of pictures, you won't want to forget this house, these views or Davie and Lisbeth.
Thank you to the owner for answering all our questions so quickly, before, during and after our stay. We felt completely taken care of and spoiled. We could not have asked for a more attentive and professional team.
We miss Casa Blanca already!
