About Steven Minning

Originally from the Midwest - a New Yorker of 30 years!

Steven Minning purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Steven Minning chose Poconos

The proximity to New York is so convenient and easy to get to. The property feels so private - you feel as though you are in the middle of the country, yet you are only a 10 minute walk into the middle of the town of Milford PA. The community is quaint, with good shops, good dining and minimum amount of tourists. Go the Milford Diner for some pancakes in morning and hob-nob with the locals. The area has all the amenities to go out or stay at home!

What makes this cottage unique

A very open space - yet a very cozy and warm space complete w/ a working fireplace. The open space includes an open staircase with no railing that leads up to the sleeping loft. The staircase is solid and sturdy, but has no hand rail.

See photo above.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The cottage was unbelievable !! So serene and peaceful.

We took lots of pics and will forward those to you soon

We made use of the barbecue grill, kitchen and all utensils.

You have done a wonderful job of decorating and had all the essentials plus more!

We have stayed in dozens of homes and cottages throughout the years and

I said to my girlfriend(Jacqui) this is by far the best place we stayed.

It is a perfect getaway, fairly close, reasonably priced, perfect size, beautiful brook,

intense scenery i could go on and on. Steven you really did a nice job, we really enjoyed our stay

And thanks for your great communication, it is greatly appreciated.

We wish you the best of luck and we look forward to visiting again soon.

Perfect winter weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

Very cozy cabin so close to town yet has a private in-the-woods feel. The second room kept us thinking of who we can bring here next. The kitchen had everything you needed and the back patio looks perfect for warm weather. Our dog loved the woods as well. Thanks for a great stay. We hope to be back soon!

Wonderful cabin experience

  • 5 of 5

We really loved our time at the cabin. Everything is so thoughfully set up, you will feel the cabin affect without feeling deprived in anyway. I liked letting the place get good and chilly so when the fire got going i could feel as if we were "roughing it". Falling asleep to the sound of the running stream just outside our window was also magical. My only concern, and this is not said as a negative in any way - only informational - there is no railing on the loft, and a fair drop to the floor below. This was a bit of a concern for our small dogs (though maybe our issue, not their's) so we kept them leashed up there at night. That said, we would happily return to this lovely getaway location.

Perfect!!! Cozy little cabin in the woods.

  • 5 of 5

Me and my fiance loved it, nice little cabin in the woods, the falls were beautiful, and only a 10 min hike. Just out of town, nice and quiet, with only the sounds of the creek and nature. Has everything you need for a great getaway. Will definitely be staying here again.

Cute and cozy cottage

  • 5 of 5

Me and my husband and our two dogs had a short break in the cottage. It was perfect. Great location for hiking. Milford itself was a lovely little town. Would highly recommend.

Great location, close to town and state parks

  • 3 of 5

The cabin is in a great location, very quiet, close to town and minutes from NJ and NY. Before you commit to your stay please be aware of a couple of the quirky things about the cabin. The loft is definitely part of the charm but can be dangerous. There is no railing on the steep narrow steps and what the pictures don’t show is that at the top, one side is completely open to the floor below – no railing or wall. On the other side, the railing posts are too far apart and definitely not up to code. There is very little space to stand or put any of your belongings. My husband and I brought our 2 Corgi dogs and were nervous they would walk right off the open ledge.

One other caution, the owner asks that no paper (of any kind) go in the toilet. There is a metal trash can for that purpose in the bathroom with plenty of plastic bags. Seems very unsanitary in my humble opinion. If you decide to go, make sure it is with someone you are comfortable with carrying your waste bag out to the trash.

Owner's Response: What's lovely about 101 of the 102 reviews received, is the generous appreciation for the charm of the Cottage with it's cozy yet open floor plan. Transparency is important to us and if there are any questions that the photos and descriptions don't answer, we're always available by phone @ 646-645-7481. For the past 7 years we've prided ourselves on this idyllic, clean charm AND the consistent cost that our little StoryBook Cottage has to offer. It's a restful home-away-from-home experience complete w/ tranquility and and a babbling brook for your pleasure. Steven
