We have stayed at 4 of your 5 cabins and all are very nice with a great attention to detail. We love that your 3 smaller cabins are dog friendly. Thank you for a lovely weekend.
My husband and I were looking for a quiet, little cabin in which to spend a couple of days and Brookside did not disappoint. Nestled in the hills of Brown County, the cabin had everything we were looking for. The location is nice and private, the cabin clean and sweetly decorated. The hot tub was wonderful, and we had a fire in the fire pit. Shopping in nearby Nashville was awesome - so glad we came during the week when it wasn't as crowded! There was the occasional truck zipping by, but the privacy fence made the road feel much further away. We were just a tad put off by the checklist of chores we were expected to complete before departing, but would still return to Brookside in a heartbeat!
I was a bit disappointed the cabin is right next to the road, but it really did not turn out to be an issue. Not that much traffic and the house behind cabin is pretty far back. We thought there was plenty of privacy, even in the hot tub or out by the fire pit. The 'brook' is pretty small, not really babbling, but the grounds were nice and relaxing. We did surprise several deer one morning, heard the turkeys, but never saw one. It was nice to find enough scrap wood around to use in the fire pit, but bring your own chairs, the log seats get a bit hard after a while. There's a clothesline out back that is handy to hang towels and suits from the hot tub. Parking isn't an issue but be careful when you pull out onto the road as the local traffic is a bit more comfortable at speed. The road itself is pretty curvy and a fair bit away from Nashville, not something you'd want to drive several times a day.
The cabin itself was great. Kitchen was plenty big with full size stove and fridge. Found everything we needed to cook or grill out on the deck. Heat was oppressive when we were there, but A/C worked great. Back bedroom had dehumidifier and that needed to be emptied frequently as there seemed to be more moisture in the air in that room. Master was cozy, but plenty big for two with luggage. Bathroom did not have a tub, but a large shower with decent water pressure. The only problem is that you have to pass through the bathroom to get to the bedrooms, so if someone is in there, you either wait or walk around outside if the other door is unlocked. Couches were very comfy - great for those afternoon naps or falling asleep to a movie. Movie selection was wide enough we found a couple we hadn't seen and actually agreed on watching (which meant no action flix). No internet, which isn't a bad thing, but you could get phone reception (Verizon) on the deck and the kitchen.
We found the cabin clean and in good repair. Hot Tub worked great, cable TV and DVD worked without a problem. Appliances were good, no issues with anything that we found. I liked the small nightlights around the cabin. These were very helpful finding my way around while trying not to wake anyone up. I would recommend this cabin, but probably not to people who have trouble with stairs. You have a couple up to the deck and a couple from the bathroom down to the bedrooms. So the cabin is mostly on a single floor but not entirely. Overall, a great little getaway.
We had a wonderful stay at Brookside Cabin. The décor was perfect and the setting was very serene. The kids had a wonderful time exploring outside and we enjoyed the privacy as well. An extra bonus was all of the wonderful movies available to watch! We will definitely be back!
If it's seclusion you're looking for this is not it. The cabin sits 30 feet or less from the road, which for a country road gets a fair amount of traffic. At the side and rear is a homeowners driveway. The hot tub only has a partial privacy fence leaving the backside open and exposed to the driveway, again NOT PRIVATE. there were not adequate towels for even a two night stay. And the thing that sent us home after only 7 hours... we were only provided 3 nearly empty rolls of toilet paper which were gone by 11:00 p.m. the first night. I contacted the Hills O Brown vacation rentals , which is the management company for this property, the next day and they would not compensate us for any of their shortcomings. We are avid cabin renters and this is the first time we have ever had a problem. I guess we'll consider this a lesson learned and never stay at a property managed by Hills O Brown again.
