Looking for someplace to call home when getting away from it all? Old No. 7 Place has everything you need for a weekend getaway, family vacation, or adventure-filled holiday. We are just minutes from all of the Northern Hills attractions.

What can you expect when you arrive? As you wind up our private drive you will cast your eyes on our 5-bedroom 5-bath home nestled among the pine and the aspen. All linens and paper goods are supplied - simply pack your toiletries and groceries and let us take care of the rest. We’ve even stocked the lower level with cut firewood for our 2 wood burning fireplaces. Our home features three levels of living in 4800 square feet of space.

Our MAIN LEVEL features an impressive great room spotlighting an inviting WOOD BURNING fireplace and a 30’ wall of windows overlooking the Black Hills National Forest. You will love cooking and laughing with your entire group because there’s room for everyone in our spacious, well-equipped kitchen - you won’t want for anything. Our dining room will seat all 14 at once so you can enjoy your meals together. There’s a window seat to enjoy a beverage while overlooking the forest or reading a book. The tile floors are also heated. Our master suite is its own getaway with a large double shower, soaking tub with a view, and another wood burning fireplace. You also have private access to the hot tub. There’s a laundry room/mudroom to store all of your 'stuff' and keep it out of sight during your stay. A powder room if convenient for all guests. For those who don't do stairs, we have all amenities on one level. Relax in the seclusion of our log home, taking in the serene wilderness as you hear the wind whistle through the trees or laze before the wall of windows taking pleasure in a crackling, wood fire.

The UPPER LEVEL has 2 more bedrooms with a shared bath. There's a lot of flexibility in sleeping arrangements in case Mom & Dad need to be near little ones - one room is a full bed and the other has 2 XL twin beds that can convert to a king bed. The loft boasts so much space with a reading spot, a game table and a TV room with more games and books. There’s an additional powder room for the loft area. Fun, fun, fun is the name of the game up here.

The pride and joy of the LOWER LEVEL is our LOG BUNK ROOM! With 2 built-in bunks holding 2 twin beds each, and a double bed connected to them it is the most unique room of our home. What a great hideout for the kids on your trip, or maybe a retreat for the single people in your group. Another bedroom with a queen sized bed shares a full bath with a double vanity. For movie enthusiasts, there is a big screen TV with surround sound in the family room. Not your typical cold basement, the entire lower level has heated floors in the colder months.

Our spacious deck, spanning the entire length of our home, is perfect for entertaining. Soak in our hot tub while enjoying a cup of morning coffee while you watch the sun crest the mountaintop horizon or after of day of adventures. And ohhh, the STARS, you've never seen so many stars at night. Host your summer outdoor meals while overlooking the vast scenery in which our home is located. I’m sure you’ll catch a glimpse of some wildlife any time of year.

Beautiful Cabin Home

The cabin is beautiful and very accommodating. Enjoyed spending time together in the cabin around the fire place, laughing, cooking, eating and playing games. Centrally located for ATV trails and close to Deadwood. Highly recommend this cabin and hope to enjoy it again. Jennifer is very helpful and great to work with. Thanks!

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home! It was a perfect spot for our family vacation! I have three little grandchildren (4, 3, and 18 months) and the space was perfect for them to run around and play. My son in law's parents came from CA and my son joined us from FL (just as hurricane Irma was hitting his area). The kitchen is magnificent and stocked with everything we needed and more! We enjoyed attractions the Black Hills, visited Mt. Rushmore (on 9/11), and also spent a day just relaxing at the cabin. We had a fire in the awesome fireplace every night and some fun playing cards (spoons) upstairs after the little ones went to bed in the basement. This was our first time ever renting a home and we LOVED it! I have a feeling we will be talking about "the cabin" for many many years = )

Perfect vacation home!

Our group of ten were very comfortable at Old #7. The house is beautiful and has everthing you could possibly need. We used the kitchen everyday for breakfast and our evening meal. The owners were very accommodating and friendly. This was my first trip to the Black Hills, and it certainly is beautiful. Hope to come back soon!

Gorgeous log cabin home

This home was absolutely gorgeous. Location was perfect for the Sturgis rally. Centralized in the middle of all activities in the Black Hills. Owner was very accommodating and friendly. Next trip to the area, will definitely try to rent again.

About Jennifer Erickson, owner

We are Jason & Jennifer and we have 3 children and 2 dogs. We've lived in South Dakota all of our lives and grew to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Black Hills. The kids don't remember us NOT coming here. We started out coming as a get-away, just the two of us. Since 2004, we've been bringing our friends along. We'd find a house with 4 or more bedrooms and bring 2 or 3 other families, with all their kids, along with us. The grown-ups got bedrooms with beds, the kids got what was left over. Those were some of the BEST vacations we've taken. This house was 3 years in the planning stages, and it took over a year to build it. In the design process, I kept trying to make the house smaller, but this is where we will someday live.... FOREVER. Today: we have kids who want to bring friends along with us for the weekends. We also have lots of families that we've shared the Black Hills with, and why shouldn't they come and stay with us, in our home? Down the road( who am I kidding, Zach already has) the kids will be asking for the keys to the log home (oh no) and they'll be sharing the Black Hills with friends that they've met along the way. And eventually: we will live here, just the 2 of us. I envision the kids and their spouses staying in the rooms they grew up in, and the bunk room being FULL of GRANDKIDS! This home was a vision for us. I hope you enjoy sharing it with us.

Why Jennifer Erickson, owner chose Lead

Western South Dakota is so very different from Eastern South Dakota. There's no humidity, there aren't many bugs, there's not much wind, things are a little more laid back, and there's such a wide variety of things to do. In the spring months, we have literally skied one day at Terry Peak and golfed the next in Rapid City, less than an hour away. And Fall in Spearfish Canyon, it just takes your breath away. Motorcycling is what brought us here. It's the best 2-wheeled riding in the state. Jason says the Hills are like a mini Denver climate. But what kept us coming back, is that no matter which home we rented, we were AWAY FROM IT ALL. There's no place that relaxes us more than being in the Hills, and no other place we miss more when we leave.
