Are you an animal lover who would love to vacation at a place where there is peace and quiet as well as all kinds of animals, both domestic and wildlife, to watch? Do you stress when planning a vacation because you can’t bring your dog(s) along? Would you love to bring your horse(s) and ride some new trails? Would you like to have unlimited long distance calling available rather than trying to use your cell phone in our mountainous area? Then Cabin at Autumn Dancer Llama Farm is the place for you. The cabin is situated on 17 acres of beautifully rolling hills directly below Meadow Creek Mountain. For your canine family members (we allow up to 5 dogs..size doesn't matter), we offer 1/2 -acre of fenced backyard so that they may run and frolic as well as a fenced deck. We've replaced the backyard fence and have added pictures showing the cabin with the new fence.
Our cabin has three bedrooms and two full baths. The Master bedroom has a king sized bed, and its own bathroom. The other two bedrooms each have a queen-sized bed.
The kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans, a crock pot, electric roaster pan, coffee pot, toaster oven, four-slice toaster, and many other items for folks who want to do their own cooking. There is seating for 6 at the kitchen table.
The living room has a flat screen TV with both a DVD and VCR player available for your convenience.
The back porch is where everyone likes to sit and enjoy the view. There is a large hot tub on the deck with two separate sitting areas. We have a professional gas grill that is hooked up to our large propane tank so you will never have to worry about bringing your own propane. There are also BBQ utensils so you don't have to bring your own. The backyard and upper deck are fully fenced for the safe containment of your pets and younger children.
We have a working farm in the foothills of the Cherokee National Forest. Our farm is 100+ years old (it was originally a dairy farm back in 1900) and has an extensive history. The cabin was originally the hired man's house (although it has been totally renovated) and the 100+ farmhouse across the street is where we live. A road divides the cabin and the farmhouse which allows everyone to have their privacy. We will welcome our guests when they first check in to make sure everything is okay at the cabin. We are out and about twice a day to feed the Llamas and horses; if our guests have questions about the Llamas/horses or need our assistance at the cabin then we are available. Otherwise, we try and stay invisible so our guests have their privacy.
Our six equines (including a miniature mule and two miniature donkeys) will often come up to the back fence to welcome the “newcomers.” It’s amazing how many dogs have never been “up close and personal” with a horse! It will be like a dude ranch for you and your dogs!
Near sundown, our guests find it very entertaining to watch the donkeys at play. They will run and chase each other while kicking their hooves in the air. Most of our equines are rescued animals, so it’s especially heartwarming to see them enjoying life.
Bring Your Horse(s): For our guests who would like to bring their own horse, we offer a 2.5 acre guest pasture with a three-sided walk-in that can easily protect two horses. We even provide an electric fan in the shed when it’s hot!
You can park your horse trailer right next to the pasture. The guest pasture is very close to the cabin, maybe a one-minute walk. Once you have your horse(s) saddled, you ride down the pathway directly in front of the cabin which will take you toward the many horse/hiking trails that are offered in this area, within minutes you’ll be heading up to the Cherokee National Forest.
The Llamas: For those who may like more exotic animals, we have a working llama farm. Presently, we have 9 gelded males (3 are trained to pack); 10 breeding females; and 2 sires.
Take a look at the amenities area on our page to get an idea of other things that we have to offer. Included is an entertainment guide that will give you ideas of the entertainment available in this area. We have an entertainment notebook at the cabin that includes some additional ideas on some interesting things to check-out while you are here!
To get sense of what others think about our cabin, you may want to read our reviews. These will help you to determine if our cabin would fit your needs.
With all the farm animals and things to do in this area, we have never had anyone complain that they were bored staying at Autumn Dancer Llama Farm and Cabin Rental. We hope to see you soon!
We are Ginny & Ed Miller. I'm a native Texan (with roots in Tennessee) while Ed is from Upstate New York. We lived in the Clear Lake City, Texas area for 21 years where we worked for NASA/Johnson Space Center. From Houston, we moved to Colorado Springs for a year and then Washington, DC for 17 years. Ed worked for the Department of Defense while I worked in the human resources field in several different industries.
Ed or Ginny Miller purchased this cabin in 2000
Ed's brother moved to Parrottsville and was married here. The reception was held at a local resort within walking distance of our cabin. Family members stayed at the cabin prior to us purchasing it from the resort, less than 6 months later. We fell in love with the quiet beauty of this area. It took us almost 4 years before we were able to move to Parrottsville and enjoy this 'little piece of heaven' on a full-time basis.
The peace and quiet are something that can't be described. For people who live "life in the fast lane" the peacefulness of our farm can help our guests to become back "in balance." At night we don't have "light pollution" so the evening sky is beyond description. Many nights, we can see the Milky Way. Again, it's difficult to describe the beauty of walking outside and seeing a sky full of planets/stars with meteorites trailing across in the distance.
We just returned from our fifth stay at the Autumn Dancer Llama farm. Ginny and Ed have become our friends, not just people we rent a cabin from, This is perfectly maintained cabin and property. Ginny and Ed are happy to assist with any questions or issues. It is difficult to imagine a better family and pet friendly vacation destination than the Autumn Dancer Llama Farm. We are planning our sixth trip.
My 2 teenagers were not very excited when I told them that our family vacation was going to be in Tennessee, and that we were staying on a llama and horse farm. They wanted to go on a cruise, but we needed a vacation destination that would allow us to bring our 3 pups with us. Two pups are elderly and would not do well in a kennel. My teenagers soon changed their minds! They loved being able to watch the horses and llamas. Ginny was wonderful and even introduced them to the llamas. They both loved one of the llamas named Crystal. That was one of the highlights of our trip for sure! The cabin was so clean and had everything we possibly needed. We loved sitting out on the porch relaxing and my kids loved the hot tub. We spent a lot of time bonding as a family playing games and cards. My dogs were very comfortable and safe in the yard and the house. The yard is fenced and very large. My dogs were able to interact with one of the mules. Very fun to watch! They had never seen horses before, let alone meet one nose to nose. The cabin had everything we needed. We will definitely return there in the future! There was so much to do around there. My kids enjoyed zip lines, water parks, caves, and dinner shows. We ran out of time to do everything they wanted to do. They were both very happy we stayed there and would love to go back. I would definitely recommend this rental!
We lacked for absolutely nothing during our stay at Autumn Dancer Llama farm. It was a totally unique vacation experience. My husband and I were there with our adult son, daughter, son in law and grand baby. No one wanted to leave. The cabin was extremely clean and quaint with a kitchen stocked with anything and everything you could possibly need, except your groceries, which Ginny will happily pick up for you in advance and have them ready when you arrive. Awesome service which we so appreciated. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were clean, and there were plenty of towels. The hot tub on the deck was clean and roomy. The llamas were so amazing .... we all fell in love with them and just wanted to watch them all day. Very interesting, gentle and curious animals. We spent one day at Douglas Lake which was only about 30 minutes away. Rented a pontoon boat and had a lovely day on this beautiful lake. I cannot fail to mention how amazing it is to be able to rent a cabin where they not only allowed our 3 dogs to be there, but they had secure fencing so they were able to run and play, and we did not have to worry about them at all. Book a visit to this wonderful place. You will be so glad you did.
These people truly care about your experience & want you to feel at home. You WILL relax here. The kitchen is well stocked-just add your own groceries-it has all of the dishes/appliances/pots/pans/mixing bowls/cutlery/utensils-you could cook & bake & grill-whatever you want to do-everything is there. The cabin is just cute & comfy. Bathrooms clean, water pressure good, everything works. Nice cotton quilts & bedding, an abundance of thick cotton towels, plenty of pillows.
The deck is WONDERFUL, the hot tub is great, the fenced yard is SECURE-5 foot wire fence with bottom boards so small pooches don't escape. Follow the directions given & you will have no issues. My only problem is that my stay was too short. I only had 4 nights. Beware-the deck is addictive-you will easily loose your entire morning just having coffee on the deck. Then there's afternoons & evenings on the deck...You may have to motivate yourself to venture out. I can not wait to go back!
My how time flies when you're having fun. If you like hiking, you can just start down the road and pickup lots of trails as well as close by trails. You can count on being greeted by the llamas near the front doors when you enter and leave as well as the horses and donkeys off the back yard. We really enjoyed just relaxing on the back porch and the view from there goes on forever. There are national forests near by as well as local shopping. Our dog just enjoyed running around the big fenced in back yard. We can't wait to book our next stay there.
We would highly recommend this cabin for tranquil beauty. It is a gorgeous tight knit community with plenty to see by foot being in the foothills of the Cherokee National Forest. The farm and fenced in yard are a plus for your children and/or pets. Ed and Ginny are excellent hosts with genuine concern for any needs you may have.
The nearby Meadow Creek Mountain Café has excellent food and service. We spent most of our time on the porch regenerating our souls. The clean cabin is well stocked and the hot tub was well liked by us. This was one of our more enjoyable stays at a VRBO. The llama's are neat and in the evening are close to the cabin and hear you when you walk out the front door and take a peek at you and then prance along the fence and get a dust bath. Very unique and very quaint. Thank you for everything Ed and Ginny!
