We, two couples, just spent time at Kaley's Cottage and it was amazing. Truly like having our own slice of paradise. PERFECT location too! How often is a place even nicer than the pictures?? This one is! The living room was updated from the pics and wow! The pool was an oasis and a delight to do morning yoga and to cool down after a day out before getting ready to go out for dinner. The kitchen was fully equipped with upscale appliances and accessories - even a wine refrigerator! The place had so many extras, books, cd's, music system.... The owners were delightful - they booked our excursion and gave us great discounts to local places!! Location, location, location that was a place with more than one would expect. Thanks for sharing your paradise with us!!!
I responded to this VRBO listing (252753) for "Kaley's Cottage" and booked based on the amenities listed. I realize now that the cottage that Peggy Newberry (owner of Mango Tree Inn, as well) placed me in, while similar, is not the same. (Address in photo above appears to read 712, and I stayed at 615. I can not find a listing for 615; go figure??)
Because Peggy did not offer a rental contract, I advise potential vacationers to ask the following questions:
1.) Is there parking? (Our rental had no parking. We had to park a few blocks away and walk.)
2.) What is the bedroom configuration? (The listing above indicates two bedrooms, each with a queen bed. Our rental had one queen bed, and another bedroom with two twin beds. Since we were asked on multiple occasions to confirm that we were not bringing children, I'm not sure why the house would be configured with children's beds. Deciding which of our vacationing couples would get stuck with the "kids" room was not a fun experience.)
3.) What is expected of me upon departure? (After we loaded out, locked up, checked out, and gave Peggy the keys, Peggy wanted me to account for how many dishes might be in the sink or dishwasher, and asked me to go back to the rental and make sure the dishwasher was started. I did not.)
Again, the house itself (at 615 Southard) is beautiful, the backyard and pool an oasis, and the location supreme. After 6 other highly positive VRBO experiences under my belt, I feel that the primary problem with Kaley's Cottage is that it's management doesn't provide a contract which outlines what both renter and rentee should expect. Therefore, make a list of questions before you book, lest you be suprised with something unexpected upon arrival.
