There are miles of hiking trails in the woods on this 50-acre property, from moderate to strenuous. An additional highlight is that this is a small working farm, with various crops growing in season and a small French Alpine dairy goat herd. Two of our five does had 5 kids in late March (19th and 20th), the other 3 does will kid in early May and early June.
Located in Fairview, only 11 miles southeast of Downtown Asheville (6 miles from city limits) and 6 miles from I-40 and the Blue Ridge Parkway, this private residence is in the country, yet very convenient to the many attractions of the area, including the Biltmore Estate, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock State Park, and (of course) the mountains with their spectacular views, waterfalls, and tourist attractions. Every season has its gifts, from summer festivals and craft fairs to fall color, winter holidays at the Biltmore House, and spring blossoms. There is an Amish Market (bakery, fresh eggs, and other goodies) next door...across the pasture.

Chuck C Campbell and Sarah York purchased this house in 2006
The mountains of Western North Carolina, near Asheville, are one of most beautiful and relaxing places in the world, if you exclude pulling weeds.
The views from the 50+ acre property and lake are wonderful. The birds, horses, goats and other animals are a joy to behold.
Our stay was very nice. The house was very cozy and clean. The 4 of us ladies went to Asheville so we could go to the Biltmore House. The house is very conveniently located, about 5-6 miles to Asheville and about 10 miles to Biltmore.
Grocery stores are very close by. Definately a place to visit again.
We came for a conference with a 3 year old and 1 year old. The house had a fully furnished kitchen so I could make my kids breakfast and myself coffee with ought the ordeal of having to get up get dressed and go find somewhere to eat. It was too cold to go out much so we didn't get to pet the llamas but we enjoyed seeing them from afar.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Moores Pond Farm rental house 39. House was right next to owner's main house, but it was VERY private. Chuck and Sarah were so nice meeting us the first night we arrived to make sure we had everything we need. Amish market within walking distance was too convenient. Farms animals were friendly. Beautiful property and great experience. Close to downtown and easily accessible to major highways and Blue Ridge Parkway. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in staying here.
Asheville is our favorite city for all the nice outdoor activities Smokey's have in store . Moores pond is a beautiful countryside like farm and not too far from Asheville. House was nice, cozy, well maintained with all the amenities and the owners ( Sarah and Chuck) were super nice. We had a marvelous time and are looking forward to going back again
The area has a lot of fun things to do nearby. The cabin is nice and includes Netflix.
Unfortunately, we had planned on fishing in the pond, but the owners won't allow it. We had also planned on enjoying walking around with our dogs, but were told that we couldn't take them in a number of areas due to livestock. The main hiking trail is poorly marked.
We enjoyed our vacation, but just be aware of these facts and decide for yourselves.
Stayed at 43 Moores Pond with family and the three of us had a marvelous relaxing 4nights/5 day stay. Due to the drought, the pond had shrunk from the shoreline about 2 feet, but we met the goats and llamas, although not too close! The kitchen pantries are well stocked with all types of spices and cooking oils, enough pots and pans to fulfill our cooking needs, but note that the refrigerator is not stocked but empty. This prevents perishables from going bad and spoiling and smelling up the fridge. Groceries are available 10 minutes away at Food Lion. Hot water was adequate for 3 adults to take showers one after the other without it getting cold. Tap water comes from a well so it has that "well" odor. Bring bottled water if you don't like well water. Washer and dryer were downstairs with very eco-friendly organic soap - soap nuts inside a muslin bag that you just toss inside the washing machine. Sheets were soft, pillows snuggable, blankets warm, and house cozy. Asheville and Black Mountain provided several days of exploring, and of course we had to visit Biltmore which was less than a 15 minute drive from the house (less than 10 minutes to Asheville and Black Mountain). As suggested by the owners, we also walked to the quaint Amish store enjoying the gardens, small windmill, and fell in love with the baby llama. All in all, a wonderful vacation and would not hesitate to book again!
